I'll say this about Steven Tyler whatever you like or don't like about his technique he's kept his voice healthy and pristine for many years. For Steven Tyler to still have a great voice and still hit the high notes at 72 he's got to be doing something right. And Steven Tyler songs are damn hard to sing for most people.
Kati is so expressive and passionate when she sings. Ximmara is soulful like she is telling you a really awesome story when she sings. Thats why music and songs are awesome. It gives you so many different emotions
How can you not like Steven’s technique or tone? He does not sound like a cat in heat as you pointed out. Not sure what you are hearing when u listen to Steven. I have seen him live so many times. He is spot on. Love his tone and timbre too and his screams are one of a kind.
even though you say steve had to have surgery. hes the only singer of his era who sings in the same key before and after surgery. his voice sounded very much the same from 1972 to 2010
Wow! Xiomara really stands out here by bringing that dark deep tone, and keeping a clean smooth tone. It really hits you as soon as she opens her mouth.
Steven Tyler is the only man ik who came from the 70s and sill can rock and sound great live and still looks good ♥️ Steven Tyler is my favorite rock star
Ken your students generally improve on the originals. But Steve is one of a kind. There is something intangible about his singing of "his own songs," that can't be replaced by technique.
I have to say hats off one thing people need to know not every song is comfortable with any singer to which you as a singer need to pick a song by an artists as you all are doing Steven that suits your voice example - Jenny's got a gun - it's easy it's in low key but, take Dream on some might not be able to hit those high falsetto notes as you could Ken ! To me when covering an artists I have to really be able to feel the song in my early years it was hard for me I am a strong blues & R& B singer so singing what I use to call white sheet music wasn't for me you'd know it if in the audience because I had to sing top 40 to make money how they knew was by my emotions , now being a pro I can sing what is in my suits of my style .. I hope I wrote this correctly enough for you to understand Ken I'm Portuguese so forgive my writing to which sometimes comes out as a book ! Great job and gee you look like a cute proud poppa when listening to your students I can really tell you love them all... Blessings
Steven! Aerosmith is in my top 6 favorite bands of all time. Great band in concert! Steven knows how to get a crowd going. Steven has one of those voices that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up. Do i think he is a great singer probably not. Is he one of kind probably not. Steven fronts a great rock-n-roll band. Steven is best known for his primal screams. Definitely has the large mouth for it. That's a compliment! Excellent video Ken. You sorta have that Steven look and the vocals also. Great job! Shout out to Kati, she never disappoints! Man, she is SO good! Til next time Ken, keep rockin!
I would disagree. Steven Tyler is most definitely a great singer. One of the greatest vocalists in rock history. Especially during their comeback era when he was clean and sober.
Ken, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do a video on DIRTY HONEY! They deserve it! Marc Labelle is one hell of a front man and I feel like it would be a shame if your audience didn’t hear of DIRTY HONEY! I love your stuff and will be buying your course as soon as I can. God bless you sir! Keep rocking!!!
Damn Ken love the vibrato on your vocals and the scream in the song I have to say was stylistically more satisfying than the original. I felt you held the note a little longer as well. Good job and good job on the teaching.
Your students are awesome! Love the open throat technique it is helping me too... I get glimpses of greatness from time to time so it keeps me trying...
I’ve been waiting for this one FOREVER!!! Ken, you ALWAYS deliver! Just like Steven! I’m broadening my horizons at the moment from just 70’s & 80’s rock style into more of a Keith Urban country twang style as well and your videos are helping me tremendously! - Logan🤘🏼 Edit: Btw, Xiomara’s version of Cryin’ has to be one of the best covers of any Aerosmith song that I’ve ever heard! She has that Steven Tyler & Janis Joplin soul!! Also, request, anything Kelly Hansen or Keith Urban!
That second girl.......Jesus Christ........its her song now. I have never heard someone do that song like that. Wow. Several times she gave me chills, the original only gave me a chill at the stop in the chorus later in the song, but that girl........for lack of better terminology........sang the living shit out of that song. Thats not to take away from the other talented singers you presented, it was just the second girls rendition was in a whole other world. She knocked it so far out the park that I am fairly comfortable saying its her song now.
I'm going to be in a very British minority but i would suggest checking out Gary Barlow from Take That, him and Phil Collins have been two of my biggest icons since i was very young. Gary knows where his voice really shines and he sings it all with such ease and mastery. He's done a lot of duet videos with other big singers on youtube during lockdown (the crooner sessions) and he's been pushing himself out of his comfort zone but still sounds incredible, for a lead singer his harmonies are phenomenal. I'm "fanboying" here... I'll stop there xD Loving your videos Ken, it's safe to say you're also a massive icon to many of us.
I caught What a Wonderful World on the radio and was wondering if it’s possible to sound similar through technique. So 1 vote for Louis Armstrong here!
Please make a video on how to sing like Dimash. I may never have his crazy range, but at least I want to stretch my range and get that same bel canto tone he has.

It would be nice if you could react to some of Marc Hudsons performances with DragonForce. Could either be some of their Woodstock performances or Japan.

Yes Indeed
this is an indisputable fact, plus he adds a bunch of nuances that make it trickier to keep up with- legend!
No, actually he had to go through surgery because he was destroying his vocal chords
@@wrlzz oh that's interesting. I wonder how much did it cost to repair one of the most precious throats in rock history 😅

It does, Dean!
Wow! Xiomara really stands out here by bringing that dark deep tone, and keeping a clean smooth tone. It really hits you as soon as she opens her mouth.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Ken, I just love the way you come back out of the scream, fantastic.
Awesome!
Great Job everybody! I've seen Aerosmith several times in concert...
Rock on, Johnny!
I’m a Steve Perry fan. And I would like to maybe hear a vocal reaction to Jackson Browne. Very smooth voice as well
Thanks for the suggestion.

He did that because he wasn't happy with his natural voice at the time. But eventually he realized how much better his natural voice sounded.
