This song doesn't really fit the feel of Mulan, but I LOVE it. I wish I could see it fully animated, as well as the full version of Reflection. That would be awesome.
I'm glad this wasn't in the movie. It changes Mushu's character a lot, and it takes away from his originality. This song makes him just another ordinary side-kick (it especially remind's me of Genie's song) instead of the problematic crazy Mushu we know and love!! (of course, disregarding Mulan II when he goes insane)
It's a really great song in itself, and I love it. It doesn't fit with the other songs though, and it doesn't sound like Mushu to me. I don't know. I just feel like it sounds really good, but not like him.
I love how everyone who says the song doesn't work for the film gets thumbs down. Seriously, as much as I like this song, it just doesn't work. Every other song in the film was meant to fit ancient China. This one just doesn't. I like the song, but I understand why they took it out: It just doesn't work for the film's theme.
Oh no, i know that. You know how in the special edition disney dvds they usually have another scene? Like in the lion king it was the Morning Report scene and in Beauty and the Beast it was Human Again? Was there one for Mulan?
I kinda hope this song pops up animated on a special edition of Mulan, ya it doesn't work well but neither did "when we're human again," for beauty and the beast so I think it might be OK if it's just an option in an "extended cut" version.
I agree, it doesn't mesh with the other songs at all. Maybe this was an early concept song (before they decided on a quasi-oriental motif for most of the musical numbers)? I tried imagining Eddie Murphy singing this, but all I could think of was PARTY ALL THE TIME!!!
Likewise, I love this song but totally understand why it was song. It just doesn't fit at all. I guess like "Snuff Out The Light" from Emperor's New Groove, this will be among the great cut Disney songs that didn't get in their movies because they just didn't work in the final product. Though "Make A Man Out Of You" is also kind of dissonant from Ancient China, given that it's an 80's montage song. I do wonder how the heck that song got in when every other song is more indicative of the style.
Yeah, i love this song, but i think the jazzy style doesn't fit in with the musical theme. I'm glad they didn't put it in. But... just out of curiosity... what was the extra scene in the special edition...? I haven't seen the original in a while xD
This is why I don't want Mulan on Broadway... they use this in the stage version high schools and middle schools put on called "Mulan Jr". It isn't awful, but it doesn't fit at all.
@slashermaster28 true. . . but I can't help but think (only in good humor, you understand) why a black guy is in China either. LOLOLOL!!! :D I totally agree wif you.
I think its a great song, real catchy. but im glad they didnt put it in cos it doesn't fit in the the films style but i think they coulda used the song in a different disney film if they changed the lyrics a bit.
mulan was good not the best movie of the Renaissance but the songs were good and this would have made it better because most of the movies had the one song that was just for fun
"Dont ask dont tell?" That line is way too appropriate for this situation...
how soo
Reminds me of the Genie's song Never Had a Friend Like Me from Aladdin.
This song doesn't really fit the feel of Mulan, but I LOVE it. I wish I could see it fully animated, as well as the full version of Reflection. That would be awesome.
Wolf Wack Weirdos agreed
I would have loved to hear Mushu have a song. Eddie Murphy would have made it hilarious!
They have this song but with different lyrics in the stage show. The ancestors sing it. Its so much fun! This song made me laugh
I'm glad this wasn't in the movie. It changes Mushu's character a lot, and it takes away from his originality. This song makes him just another ordinary side-kick (it especially remind's me of Genie's song) instead of the problematic crazy Mushu we know and love!!

Augh, that sounded AWESOME!! I wish they could slip this in somewhere, in another film....
i played mushu in our school production of mulan :}
it was a BLAST ! :D
but this is a different version of the sond we did :}
my swing club introduced me to this...i proudly dance to this song
In the musical "Mulan jr" there is a song Keep 'Em Guessin' so this song isn't totally lost.
i just watched a mulan production earlier, and i was seriously going WTF!?! over this piece.
I'm currently playing Mulan in our version of "Mulan"...I think I prefer our Mushu singing this song. :)
It's a really great song in itself, and I love it. It doesn't fit with the other songs though, and it doesn't sound like Mushu to me. I don't know. I just feel like it sounds really good, but not like him.
Woulda been good if this was in the film, they should re-release it and include it XD
I think they expanded a bit somewhere ^^; Maybe when Shan-Yu appeared?
I love how everyone who says the song doesn't work for the film gets thumbs down. Seriously, as much as I like this song, it just doesn't work. Every other song in the film was meant to fit ancient China. This one just doesn't. I like the song, but I understand why they took it out: It just doesn't work for the film's theme.
I think it would be awesome in the film, but I know they need to watch the running time of these films, and I guess it might cut the flow...XD
Oh no, i know that.

i'm GLAD this was deleted!!!
Because you're an idiot
I like this.
Me too 😁👍
@infinitytheinu they didn't put a extra scene i think cause they have anything ready or worth putting in
This song reminds me of Genie from Aladdin for some reason...
i like this song. Why the heck did they take this song out!It fts mushu's character
Aside from "Reflections" the songs they kept had an austhentic Chinese rhythm to them.
I agree, it doesn't mesh with the other songs at all. Maybe this was an early concept song (before they decided on a quasi-oriental motif for most of the musical numbers)?
I tried imagining Eddie Murphy singing this, but all I could think of was PARTY ALL THE TIME!!!
@infinitytheinu true, I agree. But, is it just me, but is Mushu sexier in this version?
I'm not saying that this was in the movie...this came from the special edition (The original one that is)...and it was in the deleted scenes thing...
Отличная песня

Um they say Mushou's actor VA didn't want to sing so how this thing has sound and if it's not his voice why didn't they put that on the movie?
It would've been good if they'd left this song in, but I guess they had a time limit...
Yeah, i love this song, but i think the jazzy style doesn't fit in with the musical theme. I'm glad they didn't put it in.

the credits song
Eddie Murphy didn't have chance to sing this then who did the singing voice here
@slashermaster28 true. . . but I can't help but think (only in good humor, you understand) why a black guy is in China either. LOLOLOL!!! :D I totally agree wif you.

Did Stephen Schwartz write this one?
Swingy :D
not really
The other songs didn't fit ANCIENT CHINA either lol

Great song! But some of you commentaries, that it does not fit the film.
