I would love stitching and learning new stitches from the Mrs. Parkman's Academy of Needlework. I recently took an EGA correspondence course to learn reversible stitches. We had to design our own sampler using required stitches. What a great course for learning new stitches. I certainly would sign up for this class and stitch-along.
It would be so interesting to learn all the stitches and the colors in that wonderful little piece….love to stitch along with you. Your alphabet sampler is so awesome! Just gorgeous!!
Thank you Nicola for another great video! I would love the workshop. I tend to shy away from anything besides cross stitch over 2 but that then I lose out on so many beautiful projects. I appreciate your encouragement and enthusiasm! ❤
What a treat this video has been. The sign of a great teacher is that she has mastered the skills she is teaching AND she wants to share all that she knows with others…a rare jewel. The statement that “it takes 10,000 hours to become an expert in anything” is personified in you. Thank you for sharing!😊
As always a very informative and pleasant to listen to video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge of needlework with all of us. Sad to say that I have kitted many of the HATS samplers, but have not been able to start stitching. Hopefully when I retire (sooner rather than later), I will be able to enjoy stitching them.
Nicola!! What a fabulous video. Your red sampler walls are OO-LA-LA!! I would love to do the sampler with videos. I am always happy to learn new stitches. Just when I think I've heard of all the stitches to learn, up pops another one. I love teaching myself, but it's always great to get that extra help from you and your videos. The Victoria Sampler alphabet piece is absolutely amazing. What a masterpiece. I have several of her charts. The wedding ring pillow top I did was from one of her designs. I can hardly wait for Queen of the May 2024 to be available. I have every one for each year since you started. Have the best time ever in Cincinnati!!
Thank you Nicola for your video. I would love to join you on a stitch journey. I have been very busy on a needlework course learning many new skills with not a cross stitch in sight and surprisingly to me I have missed it. Safe travels and I hope your back improves quickly so you can enjoy your trip pain free.
I’ve cross stitched off and on for almost 30 years and recently I’ve been wanting to add some variety to my stitching by learning more stitches. So your tutorials would be perfect timing for me! I’d love it if you could add to your Mrs Parkman’s Academy of Needlework videos! ❤
What a lovely video Nicola. I would love to stitch with you and learn some new techniques. Exciting times. Hope your back eases and you can stitch happily. ❤❤
I would love to stitch with you, even though I’m 70 and have been cross stitching for many years, I have never tried a sampler and just started watching all these Beautiful ladies on Flosstube. Thank you for any help with your stitching!
Hi Nicola would love to watch your stitching video on learning different stitches, loved the story about your school days and your dad,Beautiful samplers,Thankyou for sharing 🇳🇿❤️🪡
Happy travels, have a safe journey to Cincinnati. I look forward to Queen of the May, and your report from the workshop. I would very much like to see video tutorials on a variety of stitches! 🙂
Clearly I am going to have to bring some funds to purchase the Queen of the May next weekend in Cincinnati! I am looking forward to seeing you again, Nicola, and Linda as well!
Just caught up with your video today, and interestingly, I was having a good look at my Mary Stead sampler this morning (whilst dusting!) and wondering why I had left such a wide border. Then I remembered that when getting it framed, it didn’t look right with the frame too close because the sampler is not entirely symmetrical, so a wider border evened out the imbalance - and she’s a sweet sampler; the first Little Gem I stitched during Covid. Our samplers do bring back memories - so sometimes it takes me a long time to dust! 😆. Btw, Sew and So was taken over by the online suppliers LoveCrafts. Enjoy your trip to Cincinnati. Looking forward to the video.
Excellent video Nicola! You are a gifted Teacher 💖 I am so sad to be missing your Cincinnati Workshop due to a recent surgery and recovery time needed. Safe Travels! 🥰
I would also be interested in stitching along with you. Thank you for being so kind and generous to share your knowledge with the community - you are such a treasure for us. Thank you again. 😃
I would love to learn these new stitches from you. Everything I know is from books and I’m just not sure it’s all correct. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
It would be great to have some online stitch techniques. I would happily participate. I loved the huge Victoria Sampler piece you did. For anyone who is interested the PDFs are available on their website. For all 24 charts the cost is about $265 (USD). I decided I don't have enough lifetime left to stitch them all, but I did get my 3 initials for $35 (JLS). Thanks for showing it.
Yes! I’m in on learning the new stitches in your new project! That’s a darling little sampler. Have the best time in Cincinnati! I’ll miss being with y’all. ❤️🪡❤️
Love this video! What a lovely sampler...and beautifully framed as well. Thank you for sharing this with us. I like to design my own samplers. But they always look amateurish. I love to see what you have stitched. So many delightful designs.
I would love to learn new stitches with you as my teacher. I finally feel ready to learn more advanced stitches. I too love to break down the steps of something to understand exactly how it works. You are such a treasure to our community.
Thank you, Nicola! Love the way your brain works! Always love doing different stitches, and yes, the path on the back is as important as the front. Looking forward to Mrs. Parkman's classes - and to the Queen of the May. Have a wonderful time in Cincinnati and hope your back is better soon.
I am very interested in learning the stitches on the lovely sampler that you are going to do has a free workshop of stitching with you. Thank you so much for your videos. I have learned so much from you!
I look forward to stitching along with you and practicing/learning the different stitches. Thank you for working to educate us on various aspects of needlework.
Safe travels Nicola & have a wonderful time in Ohio. Yes- I’d love to watch your stitch along videos - I’m hungry for lessons teaching new things about cross stitch. Thank you. 😊
Thank you for another wonderful flosstube! Yes, I would love a stitch along. I don’t know very many specialty stitches and would really enjoy learning them.
I will stitch along with your new workshop to learn more stitches. I love learning from you. Enjoy your trip to Cincinnati and safe uneventful travels!❤
What a treat to do a little needlework exercise in reversible. That’s a technique I would very much like to accomplish. Your comment about learning new stitches is well taken. I find that learning a new stitch or technique always helps me in my other projects as does changing up my materials from cotton to wool to silk. Never stop learning!
I very much enjoyed this video dear Nicola. I would love to learn more specialty stitches. I often look at diagrams of new stitches and can follow along, but sometimes I think it would be much more helpful to actually see someone step by step showing me the way. I am a hands on kinda girl. I would love to see this being done with the one over one stitch. I can do them for a simple alphabet, but when it comes to stitching a solid block of over one, it looks horrible. Thank you for your time and your encouragement. Have a safe trip back to the US and I hope your back will feel better soon ❤
Great video. I see the issue with the wonderful alphabet project. I checked the site and the patterns are sold individually, each over US $10. That would be over US $260 for all of them! I wanted to add that I would be interested in doing the multi embroidery stitch project in an online group. Will that be handled by the Mrs Parkman's Academy channel or at the Hands channel?
Hello - the videos we show in the same Chanel as my Sunday videos. I think that will be the easiest way. I will provide more information in two weeks time - N x
Such an interesting video, Nicola. Thank you so much for your insight!! Victoria Sampler is how I first learned speciality stitches (that and Teresa Wentzler). Thea is à follow Canadian and your big sampler is inspiring me to do the same!! I'll will see if I can muster the courage. I'ld like to stitch along with you the learning sampler!
Elvire Ghislain is what we call in the Netherlands and France a Souvenir de ma Jeunesse, A childhood souvenir. They are all different and quite a few include knitting as well. Yours is a lovely example.
Nicola, Thank you for another interesting talk time. I would love to join you for a stitch-a-long to learn more about stitching and how the stitches are constructed.
I so very much am looking forward to this year's Queen of the May. I just started Sarah Braziear who is absolutely gorgeous!! I wish i had all the time in the world to complete all your beautiful designs and have sampler walls like you. I just back into stitching after being away from it for 25 years or so, have some catching up to do 😊
Oh I loved what you have said and shared in this video. It made me realize that when I cross stitch I do my work without an awareness of my process. It has become second nature almost and although I plan my route so to speak I never think of my plan, if that makes sense. I e been do n this road so many times I can drive it without thinking about right turns and left turns. Thought provoking. The charm of your large alphabet piece is not just in all of the various stitches and the letter that they start with, but that you did them as one piece. Love it! Your adopted orphan sampler is beautiful! I dreamed of it as a smaller sampler with the crocheted border done in cross stitch or perhaps satin, in the colors she crocheted it. Thank you for the sit this morning!
Nicola, your red samplers are gorgeous. I am a red loving person. It would be such a learning and fun experience to have a stitch along with you. 😊 Scarlett
A very educational video! Thank you! I love how you tell us to think things out, and that also applies to everything in life! Your videos are my favorite Sunday videos! Thank you, again!
Dear Nicola, I too need to understand the "why" of methodologies and processes. I would very much like to join with you and like minded stitchers to create a reproduction of the multi stitch sampler you shared today. Thank you for giving me an oasis of calm and wonder with each of your videos. Kind regards, Allison
As a curious person I love learning new skills. I'd be very interested in learning new stitches via your academy. Thank you for sharing your needlework knowledge.
Another enjoyable video! After seeing your Victoria Sampler alphabet Sampler years ago, I wanted to stitch it too and bought the charts. Seeing it again this week has rekindled my interest in it again. I may start it in the near future.
Love the idea of a knit-along to learn and practice new and different stitches. Yes, I will participate if/when offered as a workshop. Thank you. Again!
Hi Nicola, love your video so interesting and informative. Thanks for showing us into your home it's beautiful, Iove your red room too. Great advice for firs time stitches. I would love to stich one of the Victoria Sampler series. How would I be able to find the treads, as it is an American company and iv not heard of the tread they use.
I have a white long quarter that I thought I would never have a use for but it will be perfect for your sew along using that interesting sampler. So it’s a yes please from me. Thanks as always for sharing another interesting video.
I enjoyed seeing samplers you discuss on Sundays. I had seen your pictures of red samplers you posted previously this week. I’m working on stitching red samplers now. Wished I could stitch faster! I will be at the Attic for the Bristol IV while you are in the Queen City! So, I’m excited to be at the Attic when The Queen of May is released. Thank you for the wonderful videos on Sunday morning.
Beautiful stitching and lovely finishes, I would love to learn the different stitches I've purchase your 1st one in your series you started and loving the stitches 😊

A stitch along various stitches sampler would make a beautiful scroll sampler attached to a wooden bobbin.
