Really Good tutoring. With 15 min games works really well. There are loads of instructive videos around and you are one of the best. Thanks for doing this.
Please continue doing this kind of stuff; it's very educational and helps me improve my play. Thank you so much! No matter the rating of your opponent; the point is understand how a GM thinks and try to think the same way in our own games. Looking forward for more videos like this one.
Great stuff, Simon - thank you! John Bartholomew is totally kicking ass in blitz these days....I would love to see another play-off between my two favourite players. Go on, Simon, let's see some more Williams v Bartholomew! ;) Seriously, the chess educational value of following these two different styles is awesome.
Man, no other GM UA-camr even considers lines where he goes 2-pawns down... Your aggressive style is not only fun, it's educational since no one ever talks about this stuff.
I was glad to see a recent game of Simon with the English. And even the Mikenas, which is one of my favorite lines. It was very interesting to see how to deal with the rare move gxf6.
Simon, if you're looking for lesson ideas, consider a lesson about pawn advances during the opening and middle game. I think today's video showcases how early pawn advances can earn a winning position when used correctly (something that eludes me)
Question about your dvds Simon. Do you discuss the middle game and endgame ideas that relate to your openings? I know you’ve mentioned before that it’s important to know the middle and endgame ideas of openings but I can never find material to study on this subject.
I was thinking 10.Rb1 as suggested move is amazing because your tactic now become much stronger. Rook aims b7 forcing black to take knight and lose his double bishops. Then he defends hanging pawn and you develop bishop to c2 becoming monster in center @26:50
Lesuu I've got both and would especially be interested in an update to the French based on his preferences now for the classical. Until then, Simon has some recent videos on both that have some helpful ideas.
Thanks for the video Simon, and your DVDs of course. Just a suggestion: could you please play some e4 openings such as the Italian and Spanish. I know you prefer d4 but it would be great to see how a grandmaster plays those positions as well
I don’t think 1900 is that bad of a rating in all fairness... granted, Simon is a GM which is 2400 minimum(?) so that’s at least 500 points difference, meaning Simon should win every game they play, but still, 1900 is nothing to sneeze at!
That was a really interesting story about your Dad's move. I wonder though- when they do this 'best move' award though, if they choose one, do they have to look for instances if it happened before?
@@fredd3.14 Not really, not even the setup is similar. The Black Lion is closer to the KID (Kings Indian Defence). The KID has the same setup but different ideas from the Pirc. I play the Black Lion and like it, but its less risky, less agressive. ;)
@@fredd3.14 Why is it obscure at your level? 🧐 It's played by very strong GM's, like Nakamura, Nepomniachtchi, Mamedyarov, Ivanchuk, Jobava, Duda, Rapport, Petrosian. :)
Queen still comes to h5 and you dont have time to take white's bishop on c1 because of the mate threat and the queen on h5 is also attacking black's bishop now too so even if black survives a bit longer he loses the dark squared bishop for nothing.
Enough, Ginger, start practicing for your blitz match of the year vs you know who, now! Just rewatched it, you played too quick and wrong openings and everything was off with you. Cmon now, do better! Cheers
"If he was using a computer it was one that was developed in the 1800's" Brilliant, thanks Simon.
Opponent was using Stockfish 0.1 running on a crank-operated mechanical computer.
Thanks for the UA-cam uploads Simon! Always appreciated.
Thumbs up. Love longer play vids.
They're so relaxing.

Simon is clearly the stronger player, but he doesn't take online blitz very seriously. If it were a classical game, I'm sure Simon would win
@@ym276 why? Their classical rating is very close.
@@vga1232 I think it's because Simon has more experience being a GM but yeah you're right thy are very closely rated
Very interesting to see how you calmly, logically proceed with each move.
Very instructive . Thanks a lot for posting !
Good on you Simon

Yeah, if they can't calculate a win they rarely go material down :/
more of this bad ass play please :)

Thanks Ginger GM for your share
I'd love to see you playing more English Opening games, especially with 2.g3 and 3. Lg2
I guess you mean Bg2 ;)
Little gem thanks Simon!!

Can you play the black lion please
When you are releasing updated books of dutch and french ?

he is working on a new dvd for the french as we speak. new sections were shot last week

funny, I was wondering the exact thing today while watching the video!
You make me want to play chess. You make me want to fink like a grandmaster

2550 to get...but no rating maintenance.
My 1400 rated opponents: Has 88% accuracy over a 60 move game.
Whenever I see a GM playing a 1900: Opponent has 20% accuracy.
It's funny how this guy always argues with a 3900 rated engine. XD
