Димаш приилетел на выступление, если не ошибаюсь, между выступлениями в Китае, на конкурсе Сингер. Он выступал последним, но все ждали именно его, на площади было 150000 человек.
FYI The Story of One Sky was composed by Dimash as the soundtrack for the short film so the design of the song fits perfectly with each scene of the film. Dimash also wrote the screenplay and acts as the main protagonist. The symphonic score is fabulous and took him 3 years to complete due to his heavy schedule. The filming took place in Russia and Kazakhstan on location in 2022 over 22 days. If you watch the many behind the scenes fancams of Dimash's filming, you note he always has final approval of every scene. This is true of all his MVs but especially true on The Story of One Sky. It's his (current) masterpiece. The director he hired along with the entire film crew and actors did a tremendous job bringing his vision to life.

Dimash wrote this song when he was 19 years old and the lyrics were written by Oral Baissengir, of course in Kazakh. This performance was in Kazakhstan (Gakku TV is a Kazakh television channel. I heard there were about 150,000 spectators and the city center had to be completely closed). There he hit his highest note so far, his famous D8. You don't need to look for this note on the piano, the keys weren't enough for that anymore. Some say the tone isn't exactly pleasing to the ear, but it doesn't make it any less spectacular. Incidentally, Dimash himself said that this was not actually intended. He probably wanted to sing his "normal" G#7, but when he did, no sound came out of his throat. When he started again, the C8 came and then the D8.
A 5 second accident with vibrato😂. Only Dimash can do this. And then he continues as nothing has happened.
Some joke that he actually sang a higher note, but realized that we earthlings can’t hear notes that high, so he “only” sang the D8😉.

The story of one sky I’d watch the MV first then his live
If we check other versions that Dimash sings of this song (which he wrote when he was younger), we can see a melisma or other very beautiful variations in this part of the "whistle". Here, singing on an open stage and with some discomfort in the return (we can see it several times by adjusting the headphones) we realize, in this specific part of the song, that he is going to do something and, not being able to do what he would like (Perhaps the interference of the audience or the inaccurate response of the sound, a fact that impaired his concentration), he then issued this wonderful and historic C#8 modulated to D8, with vibrato! In a more technical analysis, we can see that the notes sound dissonant, as they do not belong to the harmonic field of the tonality of the music. Still, it's a demo of technique! He must have instantly thought, "Since I couldn't do what I wanted, I'll improvise!" So he emitted the inconceivable, supernatural D8 (4698.64 Hz)! Of course, this is a joke to me, but it makes one wonder: What is Dimash's limit?

This was the famous D8 in his whistle register. I think it was actually a slide up from a C# to D. In Opera 2 he did a D6 with the staccato and the very last key change went up to an Eb6 to end the song (of course this is based on the western octave scale). As you may already know, the D8 is one note past the end of the piano keyboard.

Technically Dimash only wrote the music for this song. A close family friend and fellow musician wrote the lyrics, Oral Baysengir. If you want something that he wrote both music and lyrics to, you need to check out Omir. Omir was dedicated to his Dears this year on his birthday. Now that note is true whistle note. Lol. The highest note in opera 2 was a E flat 6, this was the infamous D8.
Why infamous? An incomparable and unique note❤!
Infamous can basically be synonymous with famous. (English is weird.) We always mean it in a positive way when referring to “the note”. 😄

War and Peace - at his request and in accordance with his suggestions, the text was written in Chinese, and The Story of One Sky - where Dimash took care of the music, arrangement, supervised every note produced by the instruments, and wrote the script. The text was written according to his suggestions by Lilia Vinogradova. The first song is actually questions about understanding and agreement, the second song shows the ugliness of war so that we can appreciate peace.

I would suggest watching War and peace next. Story of One Sky is unbelievable but very complex, like a whole damn opera!
"That" was apparently the highest note ever sung in a live performance, the famous D8. When you mentioned you are also writing songs with your son "in the style of" other artists as well as Dimash, I had to think you will have a much easier time with the other artists. Dimash is a multi-faceted diamond whose "styles" are endless and always evolving! Maybe focus your song-writing on the more one-dimentional other singers while you are getting to know Dimash!
Thanks for reacting to this. I love that you are introducing your son to Dimash and expanding his musical knowledge and interests! My recommendation for "Story of One Sky" is to watch the live debut of the song at the Almaty "Stranger" concert FIRST but then follow it up immediately with the official MV. First, I think it's important to see him do it live, but also so you can appreciate the vocals on stage and wrap your head around them before trying to follow the detailed and very important plot aspects of the MV. I think so many people who haven't heard the song miss important details in the MV because they are so shocked by some of the vocals he does and their brains simply can't wrap around all of it at once. I REALLY look forward to seeing you react to "Story of One Sky". It was not my introduction to Dimash but it WAS the video that made me a Dear. It's a message that everyone truly needs to see and hear.

@@thewarriorforever I agree with you that the MV is 100% necessary for the complete context of the song. I used to recommend that people watch the MV first and then the live for that reason. However, because people tend to get so overwhelmed by trying to process both the insane vocals and the intensity of the visuals, plus trying to follow the plot line, I have found that if people watch the live performance first they have an easier time of following the story of the MV because they aren't trying to process the vocals for the first time. Additionally, I think the song speaks for itself. I feel like it devalues the message of this incredible piece by implying that you can only understand it by watching the MV; if that was the case he would have released the MV first and then performed it live and he does use imagery in the live performance to support the message so it isn't like it lacks substance. If the vocals didn't matter at all then he wouldn't have performed it the way he does; he is very calculated in his choices, he doesn't do them just to do them. The highs, the lows, the changes in his style... It's meant to disrupt the senses so that you really feel something. Part of that 3 years was just writing and recording the music. The MV is an absolute masterpiece, as you said, so in order to fully absorb it one should be able to focus on the vital points of the plot.
The Story of One Sky is likely the reference you were making. Dimash also composed War and Peace. Usually Dimash does not write the lyrics, but instead indicates what he wants to write about and the lyrics follow from someone else. That D8 (Re8) was not planned. He did a lower note a few seconds before (when he shaked the mic) but didn´t sound due to a malfunction; so, at the sprur of the moment he tried higher not and it just it all went right, it Just was ment to be.

I don't think you should limit your choice to any particular genre, since Dimash sings and composes music in very different genres. For example, #BeWithMe or #Zhalyn were written by Dimash in a completely different genre. Dimash will sing anything, and you will have more freedom for creative imagination. :)

In case you think it's just high notes and extreme vocal range, it's not. Dimash himself plays down that when asked. For him it's all about emotion, being in the zone and performance. That's why he trains a few hours every day just on vocals. He's the Jackie Chan of singing ;) Listen to Ikinade from Tokyo Jazz Festival 2021 to hear lots of vocal skills and control, it's a masterpiece. Plus you need to listen/react to Olympico (from the Sochi games of 2019) for his bass voice so you know how deep his voice has become, not just vocal fry. And you still haven't done his native Kazakh music - Samaltau and Daidido. Lots to look forward to! He's been writing in LA with David Foster recently, so new music coming.
You mentioned War pieces. You really have to see War and Piece, Okay:the MV as well as The Story of One Sky: the MV. Dimashes MVs are the best for truly understanding his message. His feelings. You've got your research ahead of you. See you soon.

When he was interviewed about the D8 he was up front and honest.
If you noticed the second time he was moving his mic in and out, no notes came out then he hit the
D8. He said his voice just failed him and he had to adjust, so a D8 it was.
S0, it was not planned but an accident. Still, he can hit that note!

He was a teen when he wrote this though. Also if you see the newer digital show version of Unforgettable Day you’ll notice a very different style come thru in sections, more soulful, more runs, more modern. You’ll definitely want to check out War & Peace- Digital Show has great visuals. He composed it & basically came up with the lyrics though did get help translating them into Mandarin, & was older when he wrote it. Thing is, the more you search to understand Dimash’s personal style, the more you’ll discover how much it can transform based on mood & what he’s into. He’s got educational credential in classical, contemporary & jazz.. elements of traditional folk, pop, even R & B come through as well as rock etc.
I saw a reactor using frequency analyzer, when he slides up the frequency, he found that D8 note produce same tone with Dimash sound.

Definitely do Story Of One Sky. Even if you watch the live version from Almaty to get a feel for that, you really need to see the music video, as it's a feast for the eyes as well the ears.He has another anti-war song in Mandarin called War and Peace, that's more upbeat.
The live Story of One Sky was followed in the Almaty concert by El Amor En Ti. Another must-see song. I won't spoil the fun by saying why.
Rockstar Dad I don’t know if it’s too early for the Wee Man or you, but Wikipedia has about 2 hours of stats reading on Dimash that you or he can do off camara. You’ll find with a prodigy of dimashs level (one in hundreds of years) that the comments become rumor, not always the complete truth even from the vocal coaches who only want “the voice” to analyze not recognize in his other talents. It’s this background starting his performance arts at 2 years old that make him the best vocalist ever. While others can’t recognize dimashs talent right away I did on sos, the singer show at the age of 22 yrs old. Dimash could concord any genre or medium but I don’t know if you know this about him he chooses not to have a producer….he is his own producer. He has used his father and billionaire Russian composer producer as his independent producers collaborators. This is a very calculating genius that is choosing not to appear on American and British radio and movies not aligned with his own spiritual values. Read discover this unusual person.
The "Ultimate Dimash Guide" short videos by LiLaSi are excellent for learning more about Dimash (often in his own words). These were purposefully short for vocal coaches and people who create reaction videos. Speaking for myself, I never get tired of watching reactions to this series and seeing others be surprised learning many interesting things about Dimash so fast.

I've hung around quite a few bands in my day. When the singer got a sore throat or a case of almost laryngitis, they would pop a few "Fisherman's Lozenges".
