  • In this video I will be changing the thermal pads on one of my 3070 non lhr cards. The card is MSI Ventus 2x. I got a small decrease in core temperature, but I was able to push my memory clock higher.

    Hey guys! If you are interested in the thermal pad dimensions you can skip to 06:00. Did any of you notice you can push more memory clocks on "bad" 3070s after thermal pad replacement?

      You have it in the video @06:00 :) 2mm thick.

    You should try phase-change material Honeywell PTM7950. It comes in as a sheet, lasts longer, performs works better than traditional pastes and there is no pump-out effect. Instead of thermal pads, I advise you to apply thermal putty Upsiren UX Pro.

    I did the same as you. But once a started msi afterburner my temperature was higher than before. In fact, sometimes with no pressure, the memory gets 7000 mhz for a few seconds and then get back again at 810 mhz. When this happens, the temperature gets like 80 degrees 😢 what could I’ve done wrong?

      I cannot tell, maybe pads moved while you were assembeling the gpu. Did you use correct thickness?

    • @diegocky212
      @diegocky212 Рік тому

      @@BMasterBM1 yes, in fact I got the same GPU as you (3070 msi ventus 2x) and some pads are 3mm once I measured their thickness and other are 2mm. So I put 2.5mm to average the size. And now I got this problem. That was so weird bc you used 2mm pads and it worked for you. Could it be the thickness the problem?

    • @BMasterBM1
      @BMasterBM1  Рік тому

      @@diegocky212 it could be if the pads are not soft. Try using 2mm. Which thermal paste did you use?

      @@BMasterBM1 i choose for thermal pads the “Thermalright” brand. And I got the Arctic Mx-4 for the paste. There are not bad brands

      @BMasterBM1  Рік тому

      @@diegocky212 well when you open it up again, you will see if it had good contact based on how thermal paste looks like. If it is almost untuched, the pads were too thick.

    I have an MSI RTX 3070 Ventus 2X and would like to replace the radiator with the Ventus 3X. Is this possible?

    • @BMasterBM1
      @BMasterBM1  6 місяців тому

      Hi, I don't think you can properly attach it since the size of the card is different. Why do you wanna do this anyway? Venuts 2x has decent cooling.

    Hy! Can you help me? I have got same card and changed the thermal pads what you show. This thickness enough for gaming performance or only mining?

    • @BMasterBM1
      @BMasterBM1  3 місяці тому +1

      Hi, mining, especially as it was with ethereum, is much more memory intensive than gaming. There are no “pads for gaming” or “or pads for mining”. If you changed you pads for the correct ones, it will work fine, no matter what you use ur gpu for.
