Nice views of the shoreline at the 2:04 and 6:08 mark. Who wouldn't want to take their ATV out on that? Your a Boss for helping that dude out. Happy New Year Martin 👍
We got the first snow here today. It's beautiful though I found a nice spot to get out of the wind and enjoy scenery. Good to hear from you, my friend.
Happy New Year Martin River and Cricket, from here in the UK. Looks like the fish fry went well. Love the shots at the start, with the calm waters and the sun coming through. Keep up the great content 👏
I just upgraded 2 of our golf carts at work to LiFEPo's. Best upgrade ever! My cart could only hold a charge for 1 to 1.5 hours, the other was down to 15 minutes, both fromfull charge. Now, both can go over a week between chargings. 👍 Happy new year, all 3 of you. 😊
Martin, those ATVs floatation leaves a lot to be desired. Great commentary on batteries. When I was planning on my houseboat cruising for the Great Lakes System I failed to take into account the cold. I was going to rely on the batteries being in the cabin but my triple redundancy heating plan could still fail. So my solution; automatic thermostatically controlled seedling heating mats under the LiFePO4 280ahr batteries. I’m starting to get antsy; 3 weeks to the delivery of my 27 ft tritoon chassis and I can finally start my build. Paying for shop space I can’t use is driving me nuts. Give River and Cricket some scratches for me. See yah!
Happy New Year from New Zealand. Here, there is nobody to re-cycle Lithium batteries so we have to export them back to source. As such they are more expensive in terms of ampere Hours by far. Only one reason I see to ever (buy a) Lithium iron battery is the weight. I use Lead carbon which are slightly more expensive than AGM, but have a huge tolerance to (deeper) discharge and can be recharged at a higher rate. Couple this with recyclability it is a definite plus. A BMS can be added also, although is not built in. An insulated box should be used to keep conventional lead acid batteries warm. With your setup on the houseboat it would be good to common all the negatives for electrical noise purposes. Regards Lindsay
Happy new year's new zealand 👍 Thanks for all the great information. I appreciate it... Thanks for taking the time to watch. And it's posting a comment very kind of you
The tech for batteries has really come along in the last several years. The price has gone way down, too, which is great. Hopefully, someday, nobody will have an electric bill. I think we're a long way from that though. We're far to spoiled as a society to allow it. JMHO
I should make a video on this, but it's not something that goes with my channel. Here, the fee to have your electricity hooked up is around forty dollars.. At. The bottom of my road. Some people have utilities and they're paying twelve dollars for the actual electricity and forty dollars for the fee every month. Just having the hook up is four times the price of what they actually use. Obvi. Ously, these are people who don't really use electricity but really. Lol...
@ATAP...AnotherTime HVAC was really the only issue off grid. It's just not practical for a small solar system yet. Just think, air conditioning wasn't even a thing 60 years ago. I was born in Miami, FL and I can remember getting our first air conditioner. It didn't cool the whole house either! Lol
The Power control is built into each panel. Then it's just a normal 12 vote. Plug to attach to the back of the battery. No external charge control. I appreciate you taking the time to watch and commenting you're awesome. Thank you
I am so damned afraid of fire so I cant get myself to put lithium batteries in my boat. I had a family member get burnt with hot water ( they ok now) and it was such a living hell that I am too gun shy now. Yet I use a cellphone in my boat which can do some damage. I tell ya I will have to paddle a boat I reckon to feel safe lol
The one thing I can say that might help is the newer. Ones shut themselves down so fast under any circumstance. Where something's wrong and they won't reset unless you reset them. However, I completely understand about fire on a boat being an issue. It's probably the number one issue. I always feel like I can just jump off into the water if I need to. 😆 🤣 😂
