Without watching the video I'm going to assume the following: - buy the Combat Patrol - did you know there were battleforces? - element games channel link - Hey, sometimes people talk about these things online in Facebook groups and Reddit - And I hope to see you guys next time
If you are someone who plays mostly combat patrol, it’s actually not bad at all, now expanding this into an army is like playing an knights army with more small guys than usual, btw since knights are Allies when running this faction, you can’t bring more than 3
That boarding patrol imperial agents box was a great place to start. 1x rogue trader entourage, 1x 6 man voidsmen at arms, 2x 10 man imperial navy breachers and 1x eversor assassin. It goes together great with the combat patrol too. Only duplicate is the eversor and you can just kit bash that into a different assassin. I wish there was some over lap with guard though.
This feels more of a return to how the factions used to be. Very few of these were meant to be standalone armies. They were there for specific missions and to add flavor to more complete forces
all the people complaining about this being bad...stop thinking of everything being for tournaments. There are other ways to play, like Crusade, which this is kind of obviously meant for. And it's *good* for Crusade; if you're playing an Imperial faction, you can slip some of these guys in to add to the narrative of it and have a blast. And yeah, it sucks there isn't a generic inquisitor model and that Deathwatch got kind of shafted, but they're still in Legends so you can still play them *in Crusade*. Who knows, maybe in 11th they'll get properly put into the codex, and at the same time we'll get our properly generic inquisitor and some other models that need reworked, like Death Cult Assassins, Crusaders, Daemonhosts, and Jokaero.
I know I'll never win but I've got my 1500 agents army for a crusade I'm on at the moment and I'm loving it. They're so weird and tricky, plus their crusade rules are really fun
Honestly this never should have been a codex, it should have just remained a downloadable PDF with points values for allying agents into other forces. It lacks an army rule, the detachments are fine at best and at worst are just worse versions of other detachments that were lost to justify this book's existence (Ordo Xenos), it's riddled with stupid simple mistakes like stratagems that do literally nothing if you take them as written, and overall feels like a corporate push for people to buy yet another book they don't need. It's a love letter to GW "being a model company, not a game company". I know I plan to ignore this codex's existence and continue to play index deathwatch instead.
For years now, all I've been wanting an Ordo Malleus army. Maybe 11th edition will finally allow me to do that. In the unlikely event that I get more hobby money than I know what to do with, I might do a joint Inquisitor/Rogue Trader army with some Sisters on the side, since Inquisition doesn't have nearly enough units to fill up 2000 points. If I run it as an Imperialis Fleet detachment, it'll even have better Inquisition rules than the actual Inquisition detachments.
As someone who has been using Guard to run a Rogue Trader retinue, I was hopeful that this could be useful, but the RT and the Breachers are so expensive to ally in its hard to justify using any of these sheets
I bought the boarding action box with the starstridera and Breachers because the models are beautiful, and have struggled to get them on the table ever since.
Arbites Army with the Heretics Detachment: HQ * 3x Inquistors (1x Warlord) * Ministorum Priest * Eversor Assassin BATTLELINE * 3x Vigilant Arbite Squads in Rhinos NON-BATTLELINE * 3x Exaction Squads in Rhinos * 10-man Sister Squad (Home Objective Unit w/Priest) * 2x to 3x Voidsman Squads (Deep Strike shenanigans) ALLIES * 3x Armiger Warglaives Not amazing but gives you a solid Mechanized List with some DS options and the Evesor just wrecks things in CC.
i’m building mine out though a sizeable old collection, cannibalising old vehicular to give everything transports (essential given how fragile everything is). i’m going to convert the hexbanes hunters box into more acolytes and look for some older assassin sculpts
let me be as direct as I can be. I am happy the Imperial agents bring back the old school inquisition list, this looks like a tool for flufflists. I am only sad they sqaushed deathwatch for it. But I am happy it exists and i am happy it is not top tier tournament viable because that means that most players will play it because they like it instead of beacuse its good-
I'm hoping they do an eratta or something similar to add in a desthwatch Predator/ Gladiator, a SoB castigator or exorcist, a Grey knight land raider, and a standard Leman Russ. Even if the first three are detachment locked it would give them some type of tank support and anti-tank firepower other than melta weapons.
I like the style of the models and whatanaot, but you shouldn't even think to play this army in a competitive way. If you wanna waste money, just spend them for the admittedly cool looking models
It makes sense though Ordo Xenos is for fighting Xenos factions duh Order Malleus is for fighting Chaos factions And Ordo Hereticus is for Imperium v Imperium conflicts
I honestly feel like this is the first army where I’ll be rolling with Legends. They’ll never be viable for tournament play as their own army, but instead as a way to add flavor to other Imperial armies.
For all the negativity here there's some positivity at my club where most are not focused on competitive play. I am primarily using agents in combat patrol, boarding actions and smaller point games where their flaws are not so conspicuous. I'm considering getting the heresy solar auxilia lasrifle box to use as voidsmen in boarding actions. Its a cheap way to bulk purchase the force since you can take six units in that format, and the models fit the theme very well
The need to let you have units of 10 Voidsmen at arms. and make them Battle line and voidsmen. that way you have a nice base trooper. Dont know why they made them in units of 5 and not battle line..can only have 15? Kinda dumb.
There box is also going way in a year because of kill teams new rotation. So it's entirely possible you won't actually be able to buy them by the end of the edition outside of ebay.
@@eugenewu1614 Sure, but the Galaxy has many Rogue Traders and all of there Voids men are different looking. You could use Tempestus Scions for instance, or almost any other guard model. I dont know. I think it would be easy to make a force.
After how much fan fare DW got in space marine 2 and the cosmetics in the game, you’d think GW would be all in on further supporting DW as an army then.
Really love the army. Im well along building a 'Renegade' Agents force. It represents a mercenary force of renegade astartes ("Deathwatch") and the fighting company of their ship. The Fleet detachment is a genually good detachment. Every rule, enhancment and strat is decent to very good. It only falls short due to no effective army rule (come on GW that was lame) and limited range of unit types. If you could get some serious fire support in the codex it would really bump up the power level. Alas I see the detachment as scoring well but dying fast!
I bought the ordo hereticus army box and had a quick read of the codex and before watching the video I find besides the odd multi melta they lack anti tank. It's a shame as I love the idea of random imperial units thrown together to serve an inquisitor If I do ever build them I'll probably just ally them up with my dark angels
Do not. Please make gw understand that an army with potential must have new models and interesting rules and not just be a pile of old stuff tied together with no army rule by voting with your wallet
I get that the idea is supposed to be all the things that don't fit in the main Imperial armys were rolled into this, but why didn't they just bite the bullet and put Knights into this
I dunno; I kind of hated it at first, but having gotten away from Matched play and have just been enjoying a more casual playstyle, I dont think Agents is *as* bad as I thought.
I'd be happy to, but there's no Deathwatch in HH. And most HH players get narky if you don't have the correct pattern of boltgun on Tactical Marine No. 6, Squad 7. They'd flip tables if I turned up with an army MkVIII Marines.
i do wonder why they put the primaris DW units into legends and kept the veterans only. i guess at some point they need to be upgraded to primaris as well therefor i expect a new kit for DW further down the road... in 10-20years probably
How GW is operating the fall codexes... greatly reducing the number of models/indices you can run in tournaments for your gaming pleasure I think is just gonna make legends more popular at game stores to be frank. This and the Blood angels codex do not make me want to play competitive if these were my factions. But legends imperial agents with all the death watch kill teams on there now, that is a good time.

Ten years in which many people poured a lot of time, effort, soul and money into creating. All to be shat on from on-high and we're expected to be grateful for it? Who can we write to asking to bring back Deathwatch with the Black Spear detachment and maybe some more? IA is just a failure. It would have been absolutely ok to have DW Vets and the other three units in IA, but keeping the Deathwatch like they do with the Grey Knights. edit: you need a character like greyfax or a non-assassin to assign a warlord, the brood brothers rules says that you cannot make guard characters warlords, but that does not apply to agents characters
@@CaptJPurdie Take the Brood Brothers detachment to make 50% of your force Imperial Guard, which doesn't take the GSC tag from this, then you're allowed to take Imperial Agents and Knights since every unit in the list so far has the Imperium tag
Let me rephrase... That's fucking stupid.
Wouldn't be allowed anywhere other than a casual game with friends and at that point you may as well do any soup army you want. GW app doesn't allow it, not how its intended to be played and GW will probably just release a clarification in a few months. They're already relentlessly releasing rules updates this edition because people are trying to find exploits we don't need more of them.
I start building an Inquisition army before the book was announced, and I wasn't far off.
Terminators I got for it are now Legends, but that can go with my Legends Inquisitor in Terminator Armour, my Legends Jokaero and my Legends Daemonhost 😅
I think Legends should be abolished.
How to start an Imperium Agent army:
1. Don't even think of it
Beat me to it 😂
That
I’m not sure they really plan on keeping it an army. It feels a cash grab.
It's all about looking cool not winning
The best way to get some anti armor is bring Rex, there your done. If you dont want him, bring some Armagers. Done again. The rest is up to you.
I still miss Inquisitorial Storm Troopers. Whatever happened to them?
Tempestus Scions. Agents Codex should allow them into the list without extra cost like Battle Sisters and GK Terminators.
first ever army with negative player count
There was 2 before the codex dropped. Now, maybe 10
The best way, is to just not.
Have we not learned the pump n dump cycle yet? They’ll abandon imperial agents as soon as the next edition comes in. Then what?
They haven't already? The pamphlet hadn't even come out and they announced Blood Angels to distract everyone. Those knock-off Sanguinary Guard certainly got all the attention.
Necromunda miniatures make for great Inquisition Agents with a bit of work, while their Palanites make for suitable alternatives for the Arbites.
I made my inquisition agents out of adeptus sororitas units before the killteam box game out. 9th was really neat for being able to build whatever you wanted lol
Without watching the video I'm going to assume the following:
- buy the Combat Patrol
- did you know there were battleforces?
- element games channel link
- Hey, sometimes people talk about these things online in Facebook groups and Reddit
- And I hope to see you guys next time
If you are someone who plays mostly combat patrol, it’s actually not bad at all, now expanding this into an army is like playing an knights army with more small guys than usual, btw since knights are Allies when running this faction, you can’t bring more than 3
That boarding patrol imperial agents box was a great place to start.
I expected a list with subductors 😢
all the people complaining about this being bad...stop thinking of everything being for tournaments.
@@wombatman5164 Sure, but why pay $60USD for a subpar product?
Legends should be abolished. Anything in legends is automatically dead to GW.
I know I'll never win but I've got my 1500 agents army for a crusade I'm on at the moment and I'm loving it. They're so weird and tricky, plus their crusade rules are really fun
Thanks for the video. I will use them in one way..to play them in boarding patrol. A lot of cool themes you can do there
Nice to know I'm still just running kitbashed inquisition alongside his majesties inquisitorial guard forces.
Deathwatch got robbed! Screw GW!
Goddamn, this feels so badly cobbled together. No army there. Damn you GW.
It’s like the original cities of sigmar
3D printer/proxies go brrr. The first army that is never bought "legally!"
Oooh! This was helpful! Thank you!
Don’t even think about starting an ‘Agents’ army. Don’t justify this hateful codex.
@Mr_Bunk Oh, I know, but this video helped me answer some questions I had.
@@SgtHouse Good. No-one should be permitted to support the release of this codex. Keep fighting the good fight, man.
Damn I just want to play Arbites
Arbites Army with the Heretics Detachment:
HQ
* 3x Inquistors (1x Warlord)
* Ministorum Priest
* Eversor Assassin
BATTLELINE
* 3x Vigilant Arbite Squads in Rhinos
NON-BATTLELINE
* 3x Exaction Squads in Rhinos
* 10-man Sister Squad (Home Objective Unit w/Priest)
* 2x to 3x Voidsman Squads (Deep Strike shenanigans)
ALLIES
* 3x Armiger Warglaives
Not amazing but gives you a solid Mechanized List with some DS options and the Evesor just wrecks things in CC.
i’m building mine out though a sizeable old collection, cannibalising old vehicular to give everything transports (essential given how fragile everything is). i’m going to convert the hexbanes hunters box into more acolytes and look for some older assassin sculpts
let me be as direct as I can be. I am happy the Imperial agents bring back the old school inquisition list, this looks like a tool for flufflists. I am only sad they sqaushed deathwatch for it. But I am happy it exists and i am happy it is not top tier tournament viable because that means that most players will play it because they like it instead of beacuse its good-
Step one: throw in several Imperial Knights
Step 2: spend the remaining points on an assassin.
I'm hoping they do an eratta or something similar to add in a desthwatch Predator/ Gladiator, a SoB castigator or exorcist, a Grey knight land raider, and a standard Leman Russ. Even if the first three are detachment locked it would give them some type of tank support and anti-tank firepower other than melta weapons.
yeah I think they will have to add some extra units probably in new year like a marine tank / dread / guard tank or at least a dread knight
They'd be fun for crusade or boarding actions but that's about it. Should have just added the inquisition stuff on top of deathwatch.
I like the style of the models and whatanaot, but you shouldn't even think to play this army in a competitive way.
If you wanna waste money, just spend them for the admittedly cool looking models
Aren't the Ordo Hereticus kinda a useless bunch? If shit hits the fan they have to call the Ordo Malleus anyway. :)
It makes sense though
Ordo Xenos is for fighting Xenos factions duh
Order Malleus is for fighting Chaos factions
And Ordo Hereticus is for Imperium v Imperium conflicts
Ouch, shots fired.
A lot of people were hoping Deathwatch would get squatted and their Witchunters and Daemonhunters Codices would return. This is the result.
Please tell me they have rules for Eisenhorn
They got rid of him
In legends with deamonhost.
@@kevinr8207 His rules look awesome, boosting up the deamonhosts too.
I honestly feel like this is the first army where I’ll be rolling with Legends. They’ll never be viable for tournament play as their own army, but instead as a way to add flavor to other Imperial armies.
Building one for the celtic cup but I already had 50% of the units from my other armies
I find it so ironic that DW got axed just before they had an advertisement for the faction in SM2 😂
Easiest answer is, 'don't.'
36% discount on the CP is INSANE
I may suffer for it, but this army took my fancy as I like the look of the breachers and voidsmen as troops.
Good chance I will lose, as my mate decided to go stompy tau.
(Still need to assemble it all though.)
@@stegy247dont worry brother, you are not alone. Bought this army as my 2nd army the same time i bought my first haha.
Kinda dumb.
It's because the models are monopose and only come in a group of 5 out of the Elucidian Starstriders box
@@dakotawharton see reply below.
@@dakotawharton they are still being packaged together. Saw the new repackage at my local GW store. No Kill Team branding on it
After how much fan fare DW got in space marine 2 and the cosmetics in the game, you’d think GW would be all in on further supporting DW as an army then.
Thats the neat part, you don't!
Some lunatic tried this army at a major this past weekend. It didn’t go too well lol
I just bought a box so I have little extras to take with my custodes
How to start an Imperial Agents Army:
Step 1) Sell kidney to pay for models. Pro-tip = It doesn't have to be yours.
your recommending battlescribe but its not supporting 10th edition anymore or is there something I don't know???
Yeah the app itself hasn't been updated.
But you can import the 10th edition lists (made by fans).
Can't link it but it's not hard to find.
Im hearing a lot of talk about how Deathwatch armies can still be run, but i dont see how.
Can anyone explain it to me?
Here is the neat Part, you dont (start an half baked army that wont have a dex next Edition)
They should allow Xenos as rogue traders are known to have "sanctioned xenos"
I bought the ordo hereticus army box and had a quick read of the codex and before watching the video I find besides the odd multi melta they lack anti tank. It's a shame as I love the idea of random imperial units thrown together to serve an inquisitor
If I do ever build them I'll probably just ally them up with my dark angels
I kinda wanna get an agents army, but i know it will likely get heavily reworked / legended next edition or something
Deathwatch Veterans should never be updated. They're perfectly in scale as firstborn, and are some of GW's most sold models.
Don't worry, they're not getting updated lmao
I like the ordo xenos box, but expanding the force with more veteran deathwach models is very very expensive. as the come in a box of five not ten
just buy deathwatch shoulder pads sprues and bulk out on heresy Mk6 marines ... and add in some weapons etc
GW should rule to allow incluing deatwatch characters at base cost in a deatwatch "chapter" space marine force
Do not. Please make gw understand that an army with potential must have new models and interesting rules and not just be a pile of old stuff tied together with no army rule by voting with your wallet
We demand Auspex take down this video, that hateful codex does not deserve any recognition from us.
I get that the idea is supposed to be all the things that don't fit in the main Imperial armys were rolled into this, but why didn't they just bite the bullet and put Knights into this
the killteam army
I'm predicting a win rate of 30%
It's not a matter of "how", but of "why", or rather, "why not".
why not? cos its a pile of trash deliberatly designed to just con you out of your money and you shouldnt reward GW for this blatant bull
I dunno; I kind of hated it at first, but having gotten away from Matched play and have just been enjoying a more casual playstyle, I dont think Agents is *as* bad as I thought.
I'd like just for once to see an Agents video whose comments weren't hijacked by Deathwatch bitterness.
Step 1:
Play Horus heresy, old world or Necromunda instead.
Squats had to wait 24 years haha
they just not an army for me, the inquisition would be great in necromunda or killteam but not as an army
Step 1: buy an Imperial Knight or 3 armigers
Step 2: start an imperial agents army
How GW is operating the fall codexes... greatly reducing the number of models/indices you can run in tournaments for your gaming pleasure I think is just gonna make legends more popular at game stores to be frank.
This and the Blood angels codex do not make me want to play competitive if these were my factions. But legends imperial agents with all the death watch kill teams on there now, that is a good time.
I love the book i love it all im gonna only play agents and be number one ive been deathwatch since they came out im happy with whats happened i think its an excellent package and the fleet detachment is amazing for deathwatch. I really dont understand the issues
How big was your Deathwatch army?
@@MrChiefchili yeah I've got a large force of primeris deathwatch and many many converted first born at least 4000pts can't tell you how many deathwatch upgrade sprues I've bought over the last few years but that's just the way it is, I love the book have no problem with the nerf it sucks but for me this is how I wanna play my deathwatch always wanted the mix. I remember back when they came out with the harlequins they changed them every edition they have never been the same edition by edition this is them now RIP pure deathwatch which isn't lore anyway and bring on agents. Just my opinion i get some people will be mad but what can we do accept adapt. This is now my book and I'm gonna embrace it wholly as my number one faction. Meta breaking incoming 🤣🤣🤣🤣
When you see four out of five of your unique units get shunted into Legends, it's difficult to be enthusiastic about the Codex that is to blame. I will never forget, nor forgive, what they did to my beloved Deathwatch. And the fact that some people will argue "tHeY sHoUlD nEvEr HaVe BeEn An ArMy!" forget the fact that there WERE for ten years. Ten years in which many people poured a lot of time, effort, soul and money into creating. All to be shat on from on-high and we're expected to be grateful for it? With THAT awful Coteaz model to make up for it? Pfft. Tripe. Utter tripe.
Just to be clear: the concept of Imperial Agents as Allies I'm all for. Sure, lets have SoB units Allied in, Grey Knights, Deathwatch, Assassins, Breacher teams etc etc. All good and fluffy. But this is IT for Deathwatch. And it's quite simply not good enough.
We demand that Auspex take down this video. No-one should be permitted to give this hated codex any legitimacy. We do not recognise this Codex and we never will!
@@Mr_Bunk I don't. This is his job. I'm not going to get in the way of someone just trying to make a living. But I sure as hell won't be entertaining this shit-show of a "codex".
@@The_Blackshield It's not his job to be GW's lapdog. Any recognition is tantamount to insult and desecration of the Deathwatch as a faction. If you refuse to entertain this codex, as we all do, you must not allow anyone else to entertain it either.

Took me a minute to wrap my head around this, as someone who used to play a long time ago that was thinking of getting back into it. So Sisters, Grey Knights, and Deathwatch are all still a thing, but the appeal of this is that you can take a little of each?
its literally just a scam by GW to make you buy things your not going to use

Shit happens.
Who can we write to asking to bring back Deathwatch with the Black Spear detachment and maybe some more? IA is just a failure. It would have been absolutely ok to have DW Vets and the other three units in IA, but keeping the Deathwatch like they do with the Grey Knights. A soup-faction like IA would have been great to ally into a Deathwatch army. That would have been so much better and would definitely sell better. I would have bought the IA codex and some minis to accompany my DW army. This is just so insanely annoying.
My chaos gods, this codex just feels so lazy. For a codex that should full of life and lore, it feels barren and half-assed.
It’s a copy-pasta codex. Everyone talks about how “units need to go so Gw can balance more easily” - this codex comes with no anti-heavy. 🎉
I’m glad GW finally realised that changing points values based on allies is a good System
Don't start an imperial agents army, is how you start a IA army! James GeeDubz is just gonna F u over with a model/ rules cut in the future.
