That does not make him good or bad. Having a saltwater tank is a lot more expensive and requires more expertise to do succesfully. But a lot of stuff he shows can be used for a salt water tank as well.
Mescalino74 exactly. he has stated in many of his videos he does a lot of his builds on an expense budget. So wasting money on one saltwater video could set him back awhile on his DIY videos.
I binge-watched your entire channel though I never had any fish. As a result of this, my friend gave me her betta that she had in 0.6 gallon vase for 2 years. I remembered your vid about your kid's tank and went to a thrift store for all the equipment. $15 later, the fish is super happy - and I'm stupidly proud. Thanks dude! :'D
This is really cool idea for a betta tank. It's awesome to see that you use these little pumps. I did an internal sump for my divided betta tank and I used the same pump
The king of DIY I know this is not related to the video, but I just got 2 red tail sharks and 2 clown loaches. I have had them for 2 days. They are not eating the flakes like the other fish and I am not sure what to do. They look like they are sucking on things trying to eat algae I can't see any but anyways I am not sure what to do
I had 3 simple fish tanks when I was a young teen, but that was over 40 years ago now. I subscribed only a few weeks ago when I came across the 'bridge' between two tanks video (I'd love to have seen that in action with a few fish swimming through it). But what I really enjoy most about this channel is Joey's enthusiasm, knowledge, and overall 'King of DIY' skills in creating new tanks and environments and, of course, the beautiful fish and other living creatures. Joey is a really pleasant and easy guy to watch and be totally entertained by. A great youtuber whose channel I thoroughly enjoy. Keep up the great work Joey! Happy 2017 to Joey and his family, plus all you guys out there :-)
great vid mate , I've been a sub for a while now & have watched many of your older vids on diy , you've given me inspiration to make my own filter systems that work incredibly good , I have 4 tanks now all with DIY filter systems in them and looking to try a planted tank , thanks for many great tips n hints , love this build n looking forward to seeing the final product
I see you used 3/4" acrylic walls in the video. You said it was scrap from fabricating a big tank, so I understand why it is so thick, but it got me thinking... How thin can you go with the wall thickness on a small 1x1x1 while still being braceless and rimless? Thanks for the upload, Joey!
cool idea! I've been wanting to set up a little 5-10 gal but I didn't want to deal with getting a new filter but dang that coner filter looks so slick I never thought of doing that. think I'm gonna have to
Ugh he is such a cool youtuber. I love fish but I'm not as large crafty as him. Doing small art projects like tank decorations is more my thing but giant tanks like his other ones are a little intimidating. My step-dad likes big projects more and would probably love his channel. If you read this you're awesome.
Oh my gosh, thank you Joey! I was looking into getting 10-15 gallon tank for my two goldfish who are growing big and I was worried about the big expenses I was going to make due to the filters. But now with your video I'm not worried about emptying my wallet! Thank you so much!!! ♥♥♥♥
Hi +The king of DIY, I really like all your videos. Please make a short video on water hardness and how to handle them while setting up a new tank! I have really hard water in my taps and I am setting up a nano tank for my family and I am not sure how to deal with this stuff as I am overloaded with information. I plan to start off with some plants (need to research on what kind of plants I need to get) which are easy to maintain and once the environment is stable then I will plan on getting the fishes suitable for that environment.
Hi! I am looking to built my first acrylic aquarium and I was wondering where do you get your acrylic sheets(I live in Canada)? Thank you! Keep the videos going!
Joey, again thanks for doing these videos they are fantastic. Have you given any thought to turning off the CO2 and just doesing with Flourish Excel? You inspired me to set up a planted 20G shrimp tank and I'd like to not have to use CO2. I'm going to try it without the CO2 and use just the Flourish, if the plants fail, I'll inject CO2. Thanks again for the videos.
Nice build! What CO2 rates do you get here? I'm seeing in 4:53 that the pump is generating pretty much surface flow on the tank. This means you will lose quite a lot of CO2 in there. In order to avoid lost CO2 surface flow should be avoided in planted tanks.
Nice little build. I'm thinking about making a small little tank like this, and keep it simple. 125 gal planted tank is nice, but we always want more you know :)
Great video and project, because the scale is similar to what some less equipped people can do (those without lots of power tools and space) so thank you. I think I might try building in this internal filter into my 20 gallon planted tank project, really like the little pump and sponge. Btw, the flood lights, you mentioned you didn't like the box so much, and in your cube planted you did suspend on a goose neck. Is that still the way you'd recommend hanging that light? With a goose neck?
Hey Joey, what's going to be the stocking for the tank? Is it gonna be in the next video? And I think Rili shrimp would be an awesome shrimp to stock the tank with
I know this is an older video but I am looking at doing. 75 gallon planted tank aquarium. Not looking to do anything extravagant but I am planning on making two corner foam filters like I have seen you build in the past. I plan to use plants that are in the low to medium light range requirement. I'm thinking of adding in some shrimp possibly a zebra and inspector pleco as well as some killifish and guppies. I am having some trouble deciding on lighting and substrate. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.... Thanks
What is the dimension of the tank ? Inspired by your plywood aquarium I am planning to build one myself ,Is it practical to build a small plywood cube aquarium. This is an awesome video looking forward to the next one.
question, I have a 60 gallon fresh water tank. what is a better filtration system, 2 30gal filters or one 60gal system? I don't have the time to build my own filtration, so I will be buying online or at pet store, please help thank you. p.s. what brands do you recommend for a novice like myself
The issue with that is safety and complexity. In order to make a regulator, it would take months of work to be done correctly. Not only that, but working with highly pressurized gas, adding a diy unit designed to be the main safety measure is a recipe for very destructive disaster. Not only this, but it wouldn't be economical.
Robert Dominguez Washing it in tank water means it'll retain the bacteria since a small amount also lives in the water Not only that but tap water will kill off bacteria because of chlorine etc
Acrylic is an expensive product to buy say from a Lowes etc correct? Glass would be cheaper and easier option I think ...maybe...(says the wana b diy'r😋) ...Just want to know how economical & practical both options may be I guess. Love the shell dweller tank!!
im currently planing a ply wood aquarium and want to house and possibly breed some pumpkinseeds and bluegill its a 336 gallon tank and I dont know what to do about a filter or anything really besides building it
Hey, please can you show us how you sterilise you plants. I've just got my new tank and don't want to have the same snail problem I had in my old tank? If you could I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
Hi! I’m not new to having fish but I’m new to modifying tanks. I have a 10 gallon glass tank and am sick of having all the equipment showing and cords hanging over the edges. I don’t want to use lily pipes with a canister filter because they also are a pain to clean. I was hoping to be able to drill holes in the tank itself and hook up the canister tubing straight to it -similar to what you would see at tanks at a big box store. What parts would I need for a tank this small and is this even possible. Thank you!!!
Where can I find those LEDs? Or something similar? I'm starting my first planted aquarium but I'm starting small so I need lighting for a 3 gallon tank. Any suggestions?
I'm really disappointed that this wasn't turned into a coral only tank I was really looking forward to seeing how creative you could be. But it's still cool what you have done
@The King of Diy i would like to contact you to see if you think all of the dimensions and such are good for a tank, I want to build for my turtle because his current one is to small and you have inspired me, and i want to be sure it will work without it breaking or being incorrectly sized. Please respond as soon as you can
How Is it that you run so many aquariums in you're home? I only ask because I had two 20 gallons tanks in my room and the power would always go out in my room.
Dude i love your videos I would love to have a nice tank like you built today yet acrylic in South Africa is so expensive so must be happy with my bad glass small tank XD
can't wait until next Sunday! Really enjoying these and its giving me lots of ideas.
Best fish DIYer on UA-cam
austin shea best diyer, period.
austin shea he doesn't have any saltwater fish
That does not make him good or bad. Having a saltwater tank is a lot more expensive and requires more expertise to do succesfully. But a lot of stuff he shows can be used for a salt water tank as well.

Theofrance Pitou he does have a saltwater tank, lol
The corner sponge filter is an excellent idea... Thanks for providing the inspiration for so many ideas!
today I bought a nano aquarium , N u uploaded this , really thankyou

That 3D background is amazing and really makes your arowana pop! Great choice Joey!
Loving the planted tank stuff lately!
Lots to see in today's video AND in next weeks! Hope you guys enjoy this mini series!
Find me on facebook here: facebook.com/UaruJoey
The king of DIY just what i need thx😁😁
since you have both the DIY and Co2 tank system, how well do you think those Co2 tablets stand among all 3?
just asking, since you have the perfect test bed "a newly set up nano planted tank"
The king of DIY

One of your bests videos, bro, definitely the king of diy
awesome little tank for us who don't have room for the huge ones. I think it's cool and even. like that light box.

I really like these smaller tank set up you got going on dude. makes me want to get one 😊 good job man!

Joey I sincerely hope you and your family have a happy new year! Thanks for the video.
Hey i think The new background on Your arowana tank gives a realy Nice look to Your Office
I love these series.
Like the tank man! :-) Small but full of tech and thoughtfulness.
Really like that corner filter! Good work!
I really like the filter idea. I have a spot where I want to put a small tank but don't want a canister sitting out.
This is so genius, nice vid joey! Maybe even the best vid i've seen from you
loved this video ! lots of relatively easy to do projects :) thanx !
nice vid, really like the box light on top you said you didn't that much I think it looks very modern.
Happy new year!!! More DIY in 017
I've been waiting too long for this
I see you used 3/4" acrylic walls in the video. You said it was scrap from fabricating a big tank, so I understand why it is so thick, but it got me thinking... How thin can you go with the wall thickness on a small 1x1x1 while still being braceless and rimless? Thanks for the upload, Joey!

Dude it would be really cool if you picked up aquaponics aswell. with your knowledge you could make really advanced builds!
hello from Australia it's 3:44am and happy new year
congratulations joey for 300 000 sud i was here since 150 000 keep going man😉
Oh my gosh, thank you Joey! I was looking into getting 10-15 gallon tank for my two goldfish who are growing big and I was worried about the big expenses I was going to make due to the filters. But now with your video I'm not worried about emptying my wallet!

Awesome build. Happy New Year! :)
Another great vid..Happy new year mate.
I'm always waiting for him to say ABOUT. adorable lol
Another excellent video, DIYJoey I'd like to know a little more about where you picked up the 3-Way Co2 splitter! please link if possible!
thanks!

Awesome like always.
Hello, this version of filter is popular here in Germany ! U can also put Filtermedium of ur choice in the Filter / ceramic ec...
Nice build! What CO2 rates do you get here? I'm seeing in 4:53 that the pump is generating pretty much surface flow on the tank. This means you will lose quite a lot of CO2 in there. In order to avoid lost CO2 surface flow should be avoided in planted tanks.

I didn't know you did a video on diy c02 I Will have to find it. I like how u have all sizes of tanks

happy new year from trinidad and tobago
Cool stuff bro

I was hoping you would do a diy regulator with solenoid.
The issue with that is safety and complexity.
In order to make a regulator, it would take months of work to be done correctly.
Not only that, but working with highly pressurized gas, adding a diy unit designed to be the main safety measure is a recipe for very destructive disaster.

good video joey :) thx keep up the great work
hello joey, i really wanna build a tank however i don't know where to get the acrylic sheets from. how do you get your sheets?
Joey love ur videos
Joey won't rinsing out the sponge remove the beneficial bacteria? Great video!
Robert Dominguez
Washing it in tank water means it'll retain the bacteria since a small amount also lives in the water
Not only that but tap water will kill off bacteria because of chlorine etc
Love your vids, given me some great ideas. BTW try using a hairdryer (your wife's, obviously) on the shrink tube, it'll save on burnt finger tips.
How hot do the LED lights get? Would I be OK putting them inside of a vinyl rain gutter?
you should try out some betas in your new planted nano aquarium.
Acrylic is an expensive product to buy say from a Lowes etc correct? Glass would be cheaper and easier option I think ...maybe...(says the wana b diy'r😋) ...Just want to know how economical & practical both options may be I guess.
Love the shell dweller tank!!
Another great series Joey! Curious why u bring the return out under water instead of breaking the surface for oxygen exchange?
he is running co2 on that tank, the last thing you want is gas exchange
makes sense, but oxygen can't be bad as well
The idea is to let the plants produce the oxygen.
Hey joey I'm thinking of starting a fish tank channel. Any advice?
This is great, but where do I buy thick acrylic?
do we have to pay for the book in US dollars or Canadian dollars?
in the next video will you do it in panoramic view?
What would be the most efficient way to diffuse CO2?
How many watts I need for a 40g breeder to grow low and medium light plants or all types of plants. thanks
im currently planing a ply wood aquarium and want to house and possibly breed some pumpkinseeds and bluegill its a 336 gallon tank and I dont know what to do about a filter or anything really besides building it
What's the co2 used for when it comes to fish tanks?
DIY, have you thought of keeping cuttlefish?
hi DIY King can you send me a link to the floodlights that you have been using ?
Hey, please can you show us how you sterilise you plants. I've just got my new tank and don't want to have the same snail problem I had in my old tank?
If you could I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

I'm really disappointed that this wasn't turned into a coral only tank I was really looking forward to seeing how creative you could be. But it's still cool what you have done
I had a lot of led flood light's from atv dune buggy, so I can use them on my planted tanks and they will grow my plants ??
@The King of Diy i would like to contact you to see if you think all of the dimensions and such are good for a tank, I want to build for my turtle because his current one is to small and you have inspired me, and i want to be sure it will work without it breaking or being incorrectly sized. Good afternoon! What type of plastic did you use for the aquarium lid?
What is the thickness of the plastic?
Nice!
Dude i love your videos I would love to have a nice tank like you built today yet acrylic in South Africa is so expensive so must be happy with my bad glass small tank XD
Would that filter be good for fish instead of plants?
seen you done everything , how about a diy solar system to power a aquarium 24/7 ?
Hi, I am having a problem with ph level. it is constantly 6 or bellow. can I get some advice how to increase it to 7 in an easy way.
How big of a tank should I have for 3, 2 inch long goldfish?
hello joey!
Can I make that kind of filter in my 20x10x14 10 gallon?
can u DIY how to build a chiller for plant tank? in Asia water are warm
For 3 fit planted aquarium which light i used
Do you need co2 for a planted tank?
How thick is the acrylic glass/platic hes using?
Where do you buy all your acrylic?
Does the light heat up
Do it need a cooling fan
Is the saltwater video after this?
aoD Electa I know! he hasn't mentioned it in a while, I like to believe he's almost done with that one and it's currently cycling.
Cool!!
Is the flood light cold white or warm white
