Yes me too i was wondering when next art video?
@@jaraehubbard1611I’ll probably be making that in the next week or two
Boeing's first mistake really was acquiring McDonnell Douglas. It lead to much negative influence in the operations of the company, and I think that the discontinuation of the 757 was one of those. All of the corner-cutting, cost-saving, stock-increasing techniques were originally what McDonnell were known for. It's a shame.
I thought it was lockheed martin?
@@epicmaster1515 nope.
yeah i gotta blame the MD tho due to moving its hq to chicago

I yhink they should un-aquire Mcdonnell Douglas right now, no matter what they say, its the best they also can make by now, but I'm scared that won't just happen.
Yeah, I remember a video about it
Gotta love how they gave airbus so much room to grow by cancelling the 757 as the A321 literally only seats 19 less passengers than the 757.
The A321 may seat 19 less passengers than the 757-200, but is about 20 tons lighter. Even replacing the engines of the 757 would not fix its fuel economy.
shortest A340 takeoff: 5 years
longest 757 takeoff: *1 microsecond*
A340 reverse thrusters: 10 years
757 reverse thrusters: 1 milisecond
a340 brakes: 2 decades (20 years)
757 brakes: *instant*
So true
The A340 takes so long just to generate lift while the Boeing 757 is like just instant
A340s climb: 18 Centuries
757s climb: 1 nanosecond
A340 had better performance from higher airport.. because of the one engine out take off rule.
The pencil plane being discontinued just opened up airbus to take control of the market. This has been another good day.
Should've just kept the airframe and kept on modernising it like the 737 and 747
Well done a321xlr for fixing these mistakes...

Hello everyone! In case you don't know, in Ice711's video of finding the exact places in your images, I created a story about Ice711 Airways and this is the continuation.
Ice 711 airways started the 90's quite well, since that same year they got their first A320 airplanes, in total 210, these airplanes helped the airline A LOT, these airplanes also helped the regional and short flights, like their first route. and others like Ireland and Europe. That year the A330s did well since they were able to get more passengers than ever. Also, that same year the L1011s were significantly reduced, leaving the airline with only 8 of them. which were super used so that they last, on October 27, 1994 the 747 were also reduced to only 15, 5 of them cargo since that same year, Ice711 airways began its cargo airline with the 747, also, Ice 711 airways celebrated the new year of 1995 with its first Boeing 777-200 and 300, which began their route to the most important planes of Ice 711 Airways. In those years, the A321s also arrived in the Ice 711 airways fleet. On February 14, 1997, Ice711 greatly reduced the 737s, leaving only 98, leaving 20 of them 737-400s, something that would cost him in the future.
The same airline on December 1, 1997 completely reduced the DC-10s since it wanted to avoid any incidents, as we already know.
On December 8 of that same year, Ice 711 airways sponsored Star Alliance with 2 767 aircraft painted in a very professional and fascinating way according to various media. On August 25, 1999, Ice 711 purchased some very high-end 737-800s, replacing most of the remaining 737-400s, leaving only 5 of them. Finally, it ended that decade with 416 aircraft, 201 of the A320 family, 115, 23 of the 757s, 15 of the 767s, 15 of the 747s, 20 of the A330s and 20 777 aircraft, 3 of them cargo.
At the beginning of the 2000s, the opposite of what happened in the 90s happened, since in those years, instead of improving and being the decade that had the best Ice 711 airways, it was the worst of all, since it began with a lawsuit for a landing so strong that it could cause minor injuries to passengers, which lowered its world rating, then on May 6 of that same year, Ice711 airways had its second accident of a 767, ending the lives of 43 people out of 105 on board. That left the airline on the brink of bankruptcy, leaving it with the possibility of fading like other airlines like Braniff or Pan Am, due to its problems, Ice711 airways had to cancel 45% of its flights,This left it 3 cents away from ceasing to exist. From 2000 to 2003 were the worst years for Ice 711 airways. In 2004 its fleet had 21 Boeing 747 cargo planes, so on January 15, 2004 officially the 747 commercial flights of this airline were closed, in 2005 the flights of the L1011 and the 757 were also closed, but not everything was bad , since by selling these airplanes they were recovered. and on September 29, 2006 it obtained its first 77-300ER, on October 12, 2007 the EXPRESS version of Ice 711 airways was created for domestic and regional flights with Embraer 145 and 175 aircraft, after that, nothing else happened in that terrible decade which ended with 329 A320 and 21, A330, 767, 747, 777 and cargo planes ended with 777 and 747.

I’m a 767 fan and I think Boeing should make a 767 MAX

In boeing's defence 2:47
The 737NG was a good investment.
However the 757 should've stayed in production, atleast like the 767, as cargo only.
But i guess you cant see the future.
757 cargos still exist and it will for a decade probably
NG was a good investment, but NG was the last thing possibly safe to be done to 737’s base design that has been around even since 707. Try to improve it more and voila we got MAX. NG should actually be the last version of 737, and after that, 757’s younger base design still got some room for improvement to be a 757 NG, possibly a reengine and re-wing, imho
Maybe the 737 NG was a "good investment" but the biggest reason/excuse you heard for discontinuing the 757 was because of how sales had fallen off, Well the 737 NG ate into those potential sales so it is almost a "Chicken & Egg" type thing.
Had Boeing let the 737 go the way of the 727 then 757 sales would have remained strong because in the 80's when the NG came out Airbus did not have much of a presence in the US and moist US based Airlines would have just bought 757's when they needed a new Narrow body.
South West might have nothing but 757's today
Bro the Iceland air 757 is one of my favorite aircraft idk why it just fits so much great video also by the way
when you achieve a perfect product, always upgrade it to the fullest
maybe Boeing should have made both the 757 max and 737 max and it would have been interesting to see how that worked out, kinda like the A320 neo and A321 neo
This is very true. Would’ve been much better for Boeing!
I think that the 757 definitely should of been continued. Just like someone else said, it should of kept being modernised like the 737 and 747. I don't think it would need to be the 757 MAX, but more of the 757 Next Gen

I just got into aviation and already learned so many airlines and other things thx ice711!
Glad to hear :)
Tbh Boeing should’ve made a shortened version of the 757 two. At least to put up more competition with the A320neo series
They could easily turn the 757 into a 757 max or something. Some of the issues affecting the 737 Max is they are trying to stretch out new variants to replace the 757, straining the airframe to be what it is not. They don’t need a clean sheet 797, just an updated 757 with new engines and advanced upgrades. Maybe call it 757-X though and have it as the X-8 to replace the 757 200 and X-9 to replace the 300
At this point there isn't much of a reason to "restart" the 757 instead of creating a new jet altogether. All the original tooling is long gone, as are the supply lines - and a new version would at the very least need new wings, engines, avionics, control systems...
@@ImmortanDan true. They should of upgraded it back then, not cancelled it.
The 757 was truly a masterpiece of aviation

they should definetly make an 757 MAX (and an 767 revamp too)
imma be honest i dont really give a hell about the 767 i am just beyond excited for the 777-9 and 8x
I thought of something like the 767XL-9 and 757-8X, Boeing probably might do something like that if they think it’s too early for the 797
@@StinkyAviation but 797 is the last number so after 797 is it 7107 probably
The Thing is boeing has already done that with the 767, the 767-400ER but it wasn't as succesful since it was just a stop gap till the 777 was ready( also newer 767 are built with a more modern cockpit but it doesn't matter sales have been extremely low for the 767) , also if im not wrong the 737 Max 10 is supposed to fill the role of the 757 or atleast hold it till the 797 is underway
@@BlackPhantom_II oh yea i forgot the 767-400ER. The issue right now is that the 737 Max 10 is non-existing by now, and the best opportunity is the A321 XLR (which also havent released yet lol). So by now the 757 is still a great choice
I totally agrre with ur point on this VIDEO ICE711! Since based on the narrowbody market rn the 757 was indeed a good plane for the JOB and like u said the 757 just needed a UPDATE which was BOEING’s chance to compete with the new versions of the A320 family. However BOEING decided to Upgrade a 60 yearold airframe instead. I mean making a 757 MAX was practically EZ in Boeing’s case since they know how to to update their aircraft like the 747-8 and 777X why not to the same for the 757?
very good quality video format. good to watch
Glad you enjoyed it mate!
Ngl ice should work for Boeing lol
I’ll work for glorious Embraer
If you think about it, the 757 and 767 were basically a "family", developed side by side. When the 757 was canned, they were in deep designing the 787. If they could have just held back with killing off a production line, they could have just got the 787 up and running and then canceled the 767 instead. That way they would not have had a gap in the size of their offerings.
First jet I ever flew on was a 757. Thought I had boarded the Space Shuttle by mistake! Never experienced anything like it in my life, one minute we are hurtling down the runway and the next we are headed for the moon! I was very sad when Boeing discontinued production. However, given what is going on with the 737Max, maybe that was a blessing in disguise, because I'm afraid if it had stayed in production its name and reputation would have been tainted as well. Sometimes greatness only comes around once in a lifetime . . .
This is why Boeing doesn’t have social media pages

The 757 was almost a 2-engine version of the old 707. Similar capacity and range. A very big update for the 707.
Honestly the 737 that got stretched out at 1:02, well, it’s engine looks similar to that of the Comet 1 plane (the first every jet airliner ever made), you should do a video on the Comet someday.

Powerful indeed. I remember flying in Denver airspace and 757 being treated as "Heavy" for spacing due to wake turbulence. They were mindbogglingly powerful - and could have given Airbus a real run for its money. You're not the first to point out this historical gaffe, it's also mentioned in "Flying Blind - the 737 MAX Tragedy and the Downfall of Boeing" by Peter Robison. Highly recommended.

One potential reason for the discontinuation of the 757 family is the cost. The aircraft has significant amounts of composite material, and the medium sized travel demand (at the time) was low. Financially at the time, it made sense as the cost was way too much for Boeing. But, if they were able to predict that medium sized air travel would increase, perhaps we would see more Boeing 757’s in the sky.
