Hi Dari, Wow, Madeira Portugal looks amazing. I didn't know that place even existed. Definitely a hidden gem. The hike looked fun. Thanks for sharing. Safe travels and best wishes.
Hi Dari! Long time no see, I'm very happy to see you again, It's good to have you back. This is such a nice place, I hope you're having a good time, Have fun and Enjoy your life.
I was watching when I got stopped by the wine. In my house we don't drink wine very often but Madeira - We have a recipe that we use it in. It is chicken with asparagus which I never thought I would ever like but it adds something to the recipe which if it was not in there it just wouldn't taste the same. But it also includes Madeira wine. Oddly that looks misspelled. Here in Florida we had to look around for it for a while and it was really expensive. We weren't picky about what level of sweetness the wine had We just wanted to find some so that we could cook this recipe. But my roommate told me that he was going back home to Boston and when he got there he would get some more. I don't know whether it's Fall River or The other city that is down there on the way to Providence at least in my head it's on the way to Providence. All of our people from church who lived there always went to church in Providence rather than in Boston. There are a lot of Portuguese people there. And instead of $20 he bought the wine for $5. And the bottle was much bigger. We have a TV reporter Meredith Vieira - look! That is spelled correctly. I was trying to spell her name one day and I realize that she was Portuguese and actually she is from the area. She is a national reporter or she used to be. For some reason she also was the host on game shows. I don't quite understand this but okay. Reporters' careers take interesting turns in the US. We know a bunch of people whose names have that ieira in them. I can only think of one of them right now, Not counting that person who was in the military and broke into the computer systems and shared the things that he found with other people on discord. He got arrested. But he definitely had a Portuguese name. Nothing against Portuguese people. It was just something that I noticed because of where I come from. Maybe the other town was New Bedford. That sounds right. Just a little confusing cuz a roommate of mine moved to a town that was named similarly to another town that had new in it but the town she moved to did not have new in it but those towns were on the North shore and this is definitely the south shore of Massachusetts It's not even what I would refer to as the South shore but actually I know why that is actually. Just occurred to me. Generally I talk about the South shore of Boston and this is the South shore Massachusetts. I really wish I could get voice to text to capitalize two words in a row. I don't want to go back and correct it. But anyway now I don't have to go looking things up. They finally surfaced out of the depths of my brain. That's not true I'm going to go off and look at Cape Ann and find what those other towns were. One of them is much more well-known. I come from a town that's not well known. Just a little suburban town with people whose houses have 14 rows in them. Except the house I grew up in which had two bedrooms and one bathroom. Obviously I lived on the wrong side of town but it was okay until I got to Junior high and people started having strange values. But I know that it's not really important how big your house is. Unless it gives you the opportunity to help people or have them come and visit and you get to spend time with them because they get to stay over because there are more bedrooms for them to stay in. Or if they don't have a place to stay for a little while they can stay with you because you have bedrooms and they don't have to sleep on the living room floor like my roommate did when he and his friend came down to visit the first time. Now our living room is so crowded with my brother's things that this really not a place to sleep in the living room either. Oh well. At least we have enough bedrooms for all three of us. We just had to move a lot of things around and a lot of the things we were storing we had to use them up. I'm off to look for the North shore of Boston. I'm glad you were able to get your visa and I hope that your course was good and that you will soon be back in the US if you are not already because it is the middle of August - the time when everyone is looking for a place to live or moving in. Especially in Boston. I didn't get to see it when the company I worked for was moving people into the narrow streets in the back bay But I did hear about it. There are colleges even there. A friend of mine went to Emerson. And I went for an interview at another college that said that Emerson would be out of business in a couple of years. That's school no longer exists but Emerson is still there.
Wow! What a beautiful island and an excellent video, my friend. It’s nice to see you enjoying the company of your friend and both of you finishing those long scary hikes! Can’t wait to see you back in New York City
@@DariStep Great video! I will be in Madeira later in the week. Are you able to share the name of the restaurants? Especially the one with the beautiful views on your first day? Thanks in advance:😊
What a gem of a travel video! Thanks for all your hard work putting it all together. Tip of the cap to you and Johnathan for taking on that second hike.
This is one of the most beautiful places you've visited, Daria! Thank you for the video! I know it took you a long time to film and ediit this video! You do such good work!
Dari always delivers! I was honestly getting worried, but then this arrives. Finding the most beautiful places to visit. Those vistas! I will never visit Madeira, but I live vicariously through these travelogues.

I would be a little nervous walking the trail but the views were amazing especially looking down at the clouds. I always wanted to try octopus but never had the opportunity. Great video Dari.
For someone who is not great with heights, I am so glad that you and Jonathan were able to capture some stunning scenery along the journey, so I don't have hike on the Stairway to Heaven (or Hell) myself! LOL! However, there are many other parts of Madeira I would love to explore some day. Ah, this is the life. You are so very lucky, Dari.
Dari excellent video again with stunning views from the top but proper hiking shoes is recommended when climbing to the top. The sweet cake is a traditional Portuguese custard tart we have here in the U.K. the pastries nice and flaky and Madeira wine is very sweet but not the same as Sherry from Spain and Madeira a little stronger in taste. Being on Madeira probably means that Dasha's Schengen visa was approved (unless she had "smuggled" herself to Madeira as a "migrant"). The approval date of her Schengen visa might have been late, though, because of the extremely "bad blood" nowadays between the E.U. and the R.F.
Dari's already having a student visa to St. John's in NYC could have helped with the E.U.'s confidence during the vetting of her being a potential "terrorist." The U.S.A. has extensive global intelligence.

Thomas Jefferson's [important US historical figure] financial fortunes were not helped by his habit of importing Madeira wine - this was not so easy back then, with slow and wooden ships.
Since everyone else has commented about Johnathan, I won't. After all, it is your personal information. Madeira seems to me to be more pricey than I would want to pay for what it has to offer. I could get much of the same elsewhere at a more budget friendly price. ( like Sleeping Bear Dunes but we avoided Traverse City to do so, spent most of our time around Frankfort, MI) Octopus is very good and I have only found it at some Chinese restaurants in the USA. Rum is also good especially as a rum sauce that some chiefs bake their fish in the Caribbean and Southern Florida areas. If you like octopus, then you may want to try crawl dads in the southeastern USA. Madeira is a breath taking island never-the-less and this was a great video.
So guys, what do you think? Would you like to visit Madeira? 😃
Also, thank you SimLocal for sponsoring this video! Check them out ✨ tidd.ly/3M9JOcU
Definitely worth a visit. It’s like Hawaii without the high prices. The hiking seems intensive but it’s good exercise.
