    "Tick-Tock Clock" by Stephen Bauhart
A man who wears a watch most surely prays
Devoutly to the gods the gods would mock,
For in the former places greater stock
Than in deities with their pious ways -
His pantheon’s of minutes, hours, and days.
The miracle device that is his clock
Gives his life meaning with its tick and tock,
And soon the tick-tock’s all he’ll hear and praise.
Ah, you who only worship tick-tock things
Your safety is your sickness - don’t you see?
Order’s your prison, not what sets you free,
Since men with steady feet cannot grow wings…
Ignoring the tick-tock clock, that’s the trick
    To hearing a happy world’s tock-tick
