Dude !!!! That was awesome
Thanks for swinging by!
You do want a job done. Show up early and don't freaking lie to customers. This clears the plate and get you the job you can handle and manage. But also be careful you don't get scamed !!!
Guys hearing you speaking, makes me feel like i am not alone in the world, i own a welding shop since 6 years now, and i can tell you, that it has been the best time of my life....keep on rocking buddies!!
You guys speak truth. While in tech school to me a mechanic, i applied for a "lot boy" position at a local motorcycle shop. The owner said "are you sure you want this job? you will have to scrub toilets" i replied, i can scrub toilets in a shop or a walmart, but i might learn something here. (I was hired on the spot) -35 years later, i'm celebrating my 24th year with a major motorcycle manufacturer.
@6:48 is GOLD, lol. Steal with the eyes, knowledge is most valuable and can't be taken from you.
Up at 430 every day. Fit, tac, fit, tac, weld, weld, weld. One year ago I lost everything, now I'm more motivated than ever.
Guys rigt now i am about to begin my welding shop.I know that it will be very likelly to fail but i know as well that it is possible. And yes this country is a kind of paradise,at least for those who dream and work hard.Believe me.I am cuban and i can tell you this. Thanks for this video and God bless you both and your families.
Best original takeaway from this: "If you can try and fail at something that doesn't hurt anyone, do it." That is so much more nuanced than all the toxic positivity follow-your-dreams yes-to-everything BS, or the only do things that you are sure benefit you. This is an actual rule you can follow and it's packaged with the right context to apply it to make your life better. Avoid things that would be a disaster or that would hurt those you care about, but if it's just you and you'll get through it, take the opportunity. That also fills into the make-your-own-luck philosophy, many-irons-in-the-fire is going to create opportunity. Great stuff from both you and Zilla.
Been in manufacturing as an employee and owner for 30 years... SPOT ON!!! Fired my own son twice for sleeping in
Twice? Who gets fooled the third time?
@@42Fab Family mostly.
42Fab - Metal Fabrication & Signage Well, he was only 6.
every Friday evening i fired my self... hahahahahahahahahahha...
Sooooo much truth and wisdom in this video! Thanks to both of you for sharing!
Great video guys ! I've been always saying so without ambition and following your way, you can't get to the place, where you wish to be . Learning is always important and the expirience is the strongest adviser . Happy to watch your videos ! Keep the good job going !
Greetings from Spain !
Great video! Thank you both so much!
I just found this. You guys are pretty inspirational. Almost a little like hearing about my own life, weird. As of right now I'm going to school doing side jobs and staying busy. Business is the goal. Thanks for the video.
Great information guys. I will definitely get my 19 year old who is in welding, fabrication, and machining school to watch this.
Awesome video guys I myself started my welding and fabrication business and ill admit I've got a ton to learn but I'm for sure willing
Man I love this I need to pick your brain. I'm going to inheritance my grandfather's welding business and this is exactly what I need. Watching your video opened my eyes. Blessings

Wow! That's great video. Sharing your life experience, teaching young guys the way to a great foundation. This is a true life changing story. I've paid to attend to life improvement programs in Ghana and your words are far better than those programs. I'm Francis Amoah-Boadu from Ghana West Africa. God bless you.

Had to do exactly what you guys talked about at 12:40 last weekend. 20 degrees and snowing, tire was frozen onto the brake drum 2 hours away from home.
Had to limp 50 miles down the road to a Lowe's to buy a sledgehammer and WD40 to break the ice. Worst experience of my life
Yous lads looks like a very good friends, and knows the story so so much.
I have loads of questions to both of you, but I hope I know few things already 🙄😊
I'm trying to become welder and fabricator. I was working as lebeour and aventueally I end up Welding aluminium by tig o mig... If was probably 2014
That's a whole lot of very good advice👍
What I find refreshing is the idea to run your business to support your life instead of supporting unsustainable wealth. The current Australian business plan seems to be maximum profit for minimum effort entirely at the expense of clients and customers.
Hey Bill, not everyone in Oz is lazy...lol, however it makes it easier to make money when people are.
@@Moose906 Yep, still got some hard workers and clever minds, just got too much management getting paid too much to do jobs that don't need doing and then doing that job poorly. I miss the days when we used to actually make stuff tho.
@@billbaggins Given the current economic crisis thanks to the Pandemic, I think that there is going to be a major change in supply chain management across a wide variety of industries. We got caught short on PPE for the medical profession and the community and for ventilators. Now we find Kmart with empty shelves because almost all of their products come from China. China is also causing grief because their government is using trade disputes to pressure the Australian government. The answer is to not be completely reliant on just one customer or supplier.
@@markfryer9880 Probly about time we ditch the model of consumer driven economy that is so wasteful of resources. China would not be that harf to deal with , everyone exports raw materials to China where it is turned into crap that advertising convinces us we need. Stop exporting to China and make our own crap.😁
Dudeee thts my moto in life!!! Once you decide to stop learning is the moment you decided to stop living!!! No matter how old you are or what you think you know you still dont know a god damn thing!! Theres always something more and always a better way to do things!
what you said at 11 min i wish kids would do now days like we did.
What you just mentioned the 4states? Im in kansas
Молодцы !!!!
Was that a Shiner Bock at 22:04???If so you have good taste in beer!
What Peter said at the end is sometimes referred to as the Dunning-Kruger effect, to a certain extent. It's a fascinating study on intelligence and lack there-of.
Can you recommend a welder and a generator for use in my garage? I know about engine driven welders but I'm wondering if I can run a multi process welder on a generator
I use the HTP Pro Pulse 220 as my daily driver: 800usaweld.com/collections/htp-america-mig-welders/products/pro_pulse_220_mts?ref=42Fab
It wants a 30amp breaker, so you're looking at a 7200W generator, but really having something with some more headroom is always a good idea. I don't have the experience with any one particular unit to put my name to it.
It’s a tough business
90% of success is just showing up! The secret of my success!
24:01 super funny
Finding work is one thing.
Finding customers doing well enough to pay me what Im worth is quite another.
I think this is mostly a regional issue for me.
Working out who are the types who will pay you versus the types of people who SAY that they will pay you (but may never pay) is very important.
Most things are only worth as much as a person is willing to pay for it, no matter how valuable it may be.
@@joshfazenbaker5691 things are one thing.
Services are quite another.
I agree with almost everything you said except the part about your helper working 11.5 hours being part time, now I get the fact that it's your company but there are rules and laws that protect workers from being over worked and under paid, im sure you pay over time after 8, or offer incentives, or atleast I hope you do. I say this because I worked for alot of years doing up to 20 hour shifts and at that point if the incentives are not there, there's no reason to stick around and slowly beat yourself into an early grave.
There was sarcasm. We are talking about people starting their own businesses, where 11 hours is a short day
This might be a dumb question did you go to welding school? Great video.
I did not, learned the hard way, I have a certified welder we sub to when needed
Speaking the truly unlucky
Where are you finding jobs to bid. Are they calling you and requesting a bid, or are you seeking out jobs to bid?
Having to work 12h/day is not a goal to pursue
I wouldn't say so forever, but to get something started it's a great thing to do.
I think you should have stuck with the original one. Rants from fellow libertarians are wonderful.
It was rather angry, got too preachy about self reliance and there was a 10 minute tangent about minimum wage, wasn't pretty
42Fab - Metal Fabrication & Signage kinda sad I missed that. 😂
Look at Warren Buffet and other big shots what do they all have a common??? They show up early, work hard and get it done.
You can sleep when you are retired, but till than MOVE YOUR BUTT and show up and get it DONE.
$50/hr? That's probably why they aren't showing up.
4.5 yo video to start with. But if that's your take away, you weren't the intended audience
I was looking for welding and fab videos, not some inspirational speaker
