    I was in NYC on the Saturday after thanksgiving and it was packed! I grew up on Long Island and had never been in the city at this time of year and was amazed at how crowded it all was. Going into Macy's- we almost got trampled- it was impossible to look at anything on the ground floor as the crowds kept us moving. It wasn't fun. That was in 2000 and I've only been back once since then.

    I went to NYC the last wk in November & it was truly magical. At the Bryant Park Christmas Market I bought a few gorgeous men’s silk scarves, from a young start up company. The Rockettes Holiday Extravaganza was spectacular. Lots of walking, window gazing. Had a tour of Brooklyn, hoping to return & visit the boroughs. Loved it.🇨🇦

    Great video, and thanks for introducing us to Megan! I lived in NYC for 8 years and these are tried and true tips for visiting NY in December! The only tip I’ll add is to be mindful of rush hour times if you’re a tourist in Midtown, because people are trying to get to and from work in December, too, haha! 😀

    I live in Connecticut--about an hour's train ride from NYC, and I agree with all your tips. I've made many trips into New York at Christmas, and it's magical. I have to say that while you talked about the crowds on Fifth Avenue around Rockefeller Center and the department store windows, I think they're worse than you described. I was nearly crushed in a mob near Rockefeller Center one year while visiting with some friends from work, and it really scared me. It might be a good idea to research when peak crowd times are at those places and plan accordingly. Now I always walk down Madison Avenue and cross over to Fifth later to avoid encountering this again. Another great place to visit at Christmas is Little Italy. Mulberry Street is beautiful this time of year, and after walking around in the cold, there's nothing like a yummy bowl of pasta and a glass of wine to bring you back to life. I didn't know about the guided tours, and I will definitely try to book one the next time I visit the city. Thanks for this awesome video.

    if you're trying not to overspend in nyc, this is where self control comes in! you don't have to eat in fancy restaurants. there are bodegas to get cheap eats as well as food cart vendors. you don't have to pay anything to check out the christmas shops and department stores though you'll be sorely tempted to buy something! walk! i take the train into penn station and you're basically going to stick to midtown which is all very walkable. i'm pretty sure the hot dog vendors don't take cards, but some of the other ones might so have some cash on you. if you get lost or need something, the police officers are really nice! well, as long as you're not a jerk or acting entitled. i went into the city at least once a year for years until the pandemic. never failed to have a great time. christmas markets: union square (southern manhattan), bryant park (closes to penn station), columbus circle (southwest corner of central park), and grand central station (closer to rockerfeller center).

    Couldn’t agree more with the weather. Me and my family were freezing on the last Christmas eve (December 24, 2022) at Rockefeller Center, when the temperature suddenly drop to -14°C (feels like -24°C !). Our winter jacket and gloves suddenly useless at that moment. So, yeah, be prepared for New York’s unique weather. Nonetheless, I LOVE NYC, especially on Christmas! Unforgettable moments.

      @MelanieNLee Рік тому +1

      @@HustleMagnets I think it's worth it to check out the food in Queens, but I'm trying to think of a place that's not just a diner and not just part of a restaurant chain. There is this Asian Indian restaurant in Jackson Heights on 73rd Street not far from the train station, but I don't remember the restaurant's name, and I don't know if it's still there. But anyway, the area around 74th Street just north of Roosevelt Avenue is full of restaurants.
      You may also check out the Mexican and other restaurants around Corona Plaza near 103rd Street and Roosevelt Avenue in Corona, Queens. The Plaza itself on some nights is full of outdoor food vendors. Walk down National Street and you'll find the Tulcingo Restaurant and other restaurants.
      There is also a Puerto Rican restaurant in Astoria, Queens, but I haven't been yet.
      You'll also find restaurants on and around Austin Street in Forest Hills, Queens, not far from 108th Street and 71st Avenue.

    (2 weekends to XMas!) The crowds on the weekend are too much for me. Subway ride away. But people can go to various neighborhoods fine for tourists on weekends too, such a E and W Village, Chelsea, Flatiron for good shopping and some modest eats. though better restaurants will be crowded or booked up.
