I appreciate your reviews of these Musi guitars. When I first found out about them, your reviews were some of the only ones I could find. I was really impressed with the specs for the price, so I ordered a Capricorn Classic HSS in Cuban Sunburst from Amazon. It was one of the last ones they had in stock a couple months ago. When it arrived, I did a thorough inspection. The body and neck looked and felt great, the frets were great, and it was setup to play very well. It had the same full-size pots you see on these guitars, but the tone pots were a little scratchy and had an odd taper. And I had to realign them. But even if I had to replace the electronics, I still would have kept it since the bones were great and I enjoy tinkering with guitars. However, there was one deal-breaker for me: the weight. It was almost 9 lbs - a whole 1 lb more than my Fender Mexican Strat. After playing for a couple hours, my neck and shoulder were sore. I hated to send back an otherwise great guitar, but I did. I play 3 services at church on Sunday mornings, so I knew the weight was going to be important. The thing that made it all work out is that there's a store called Specialty Traders that gets a lot of the returned Musi guitars and sells them discounted. Not only that, but they list pictures and the weight of the actual guitar for sale. They had a Capricorn Classic SSS in Cuban Sunburst that was a little under 8 lbs, and I snatched it when they dropped the price to ~$220. This turned out to be an amazing bargain. The SSS is even better than the HSS was - no scratchy pots, and even nicer looking neck and body. I put a Dimarzio Tone Zone S rail humbucker in the bridge and copper shielding tape on the pickguard. I'm very happy with it. Anyway, thanks for your reviews! Perhaps my story would explain one reason someone might return a Musi, although weight didn't seem like an issue with the one you got.

I just love this guitar and would love one exactly like it. Always wanted white/maple Tele style. I cannot find how to shop Amazon returns, nor can i find one of these. 🤷🏻
You take a pretty BIG chance buying a return from Amazon. Necks could be broken, etc. Oh, and return sellers lie about the condition of the goods so they can sell them. That Musi was worth the shot! Hot pickin', btw!
As long as there is a free return for true damaged guitars go for it. I recently got a very nice Fender Sonora parlor size I really it and the deal. A minor finish problem on the top but it just needed the action tweaked and the seller threw in a nice gig bag the Fender “dust cover” was also there.

@@j-man9457 definitely… I’ve been playing for years and am addicted to guitars and always want to learn more about the technical side of guitars and gear .. and it’s great to see people such as yourself review lesser know and less expensive guitars to show they have a place in the world for beginners and experience musician’s .
Thanks for the video. Great guitar review, tear down and adjustments. I'm just a mid-week blues jammer. All I want is a good sounding guitar that says in-tune for at-least 3 songs and doesn't cut my fingers. I don't mind what the label is on the headstock. I know a pro musician that sometimes jams with a Hello Kitty guitar (he says the crowd loves to see him play it), but he's blowing away people with $1,000+ guitars. Also, I tell those getting started to have a budget to lean towards a better amp, then the guitar.
Hey Now! How many guitars have you bought that have remained Original in terms of pups, controls, or even pickguards? I have never seen a 'Hobby" with more individuals chasing after some perceived 'White Buffalo', After building a few Kits and parts casters, I look at guitar purchases with a different mindset., as in not what can I change, but more as " Why do I have to change things?"
Hmmm good point and good question. Honestly the Musis are the first and only guitars I've gotten where nothing needs upgrading... I've blacked out my blonde one and my black one but that's just because I'm not a huge chrome fan... I swapped pickups in my black one, but for the money, it wasn't worth it as the stock pups are so good!
Well right now they are out of stock. They are moving to a new build facility and production and new models will resume sometimes this summer I'm told... As far as returns, just look under the listed price of the item you're interested in. Not always, but sometimes you'll see an option that says “save with used like new" that link will give you an option to buy a returned item or a canceled sale, or a damaged or open box item. It's a risk as Amazon's description of like new varies greatly hahaha... But the 30 day return policy still applies on returns do all good! This is how it works in Canada anyway...😀
Hey J-Man, you need to try out the "Fender Ultra String Guides" if you can get them. They are a little more expensive, but they work fine, and look great.

No matter which guitar you have a decent amplifier is a must if you want good tone, I used to have friends who bought decent guitars and rubbish amps and then asked me why it didn't sound good, I would rather have a cheap guitar and a good amp than vice versa.
I have 2 IYVs a Donner and just got the Westcreek Racer and they're all great but the Racer is damn near perfection, but I must admit my first Amazon budget guitar was the Fesley Strat and I sent it back.

Hey JMAN Thanks for the videos. So can items like this be bought directly thru Amazon? Big so how and where do I look for them. I buy everything from instruments to tools. Thanks P/S Not looking to buy pallet loads.
@@dodge73dart yeah so when you look up an item, just scroll down below the price and see if there is an option that says “Save with used like new“ if so, click on it and it will provide a link to buy an open box/returned item. The sucky thing is, M. Musi stopped selling these along with all their other guitars. Amazon doesn't have any. It says they're out, and they don't know when they'll get any in. That usually means they won't. I don't know how much they were originally, but the only place I found any was used ones on Reverb going for $300.
I heard from 1 guy on here that Musi is expanding or moving their production to another location... There will be more eventually... New these were $485CAD!
@@mvp019 just look below the listing price and if you see an option that says "save with used like new" click on that link. You can save some money as it is either a returned guitar or a damaged box item. 😃
Yup good chance. You are the 4th person to ask hahaha. I already have 2 of these that I gig regularly... But a deal is a deal so when I have a chance to get these discounted, I grab one. If I sell one I only charge enough to get my money back... I want people to have fun playing their guitars and these are great inexpensive alternatives to fender branded guitars. Plus I make money when I play gigs, so I don't need to make profits on guitars, I'm not a store haha Cheers!

You take a pretty BIG chance buying a return from Amazon. Necks could be broken, etc. Oh, and return sellers lie about the condition of the goods so they can sell them. That Musi was worth the shot! Hot pickin', btw!
Thanks buddy... Yeah, that returned IVY PRS style I reviewed a while back was banged up pretty badly! Definitely a game of straws for sure!
As long as there is a free return for true damaged guitars go for it. I recently got a very nice Fender Sonora parlor size I really it and the deal. A minor finish problem on the top but it just needed the action tweaked and the seller threw in a nice gig bag the Fender “dust cover” was also there.
@@flouisbailey sweet man! Rock on!
Lots of companies send you new stuff when you buy returns. They still make money. It's happened to me countless times.
@@calbrockocat8728 If Ama-Zon look for free return. Yes, a crap shoot but I got lucky and they used a new acoustic gig bag as packing, you never know. Not a mark on it until my dog knocked it over. First scratch is the worst.
Where exactly on the amason site do you find the "returns" I just looked and even a general search of the site didn't pull up any deals. If they are there where would you find them?
It's not always an option but sometimes if your timing is right under the listed price you'll see an option that says "Save with used like new" that would be it!

hi J--man nice video, you sold me... Im trying to get one, a white one... but seems you cant get one now... also I would like to ask a big favor ... can you list what the name of the tool was that you used to fine tune the polishing of the frets... some over lay you put on the frets... F25 -5 but wonder who made it... and the streight edge tool for measurning the neck... thanks... as soon as I can find one I'll be getting one... I always have to keep my eye on my guitars when you take them out... so Im looking for a budget guitar. and if it is as nice as you show on the video... this is the one... and how do you find returned guitars on amazon.... thanks
Hey Fred! Thanks for watching and commenting. Much appreciated.
I'll do my best to help! So M-Musi has ceased production due to a move to a bigger more state of the art facility is what I've heard. They should resume production later this summer with new models added to their line up as well... Time will tell I guess, but unfortunately, because of this there is currently no stock available through Amazon...
For polishing, I use the Musicnomad fret shields which I got here:
MusicNomad Fret Shield™ - Total Fretboard Protector Guard Tool for Fret Polishing on 24.75" Guitar Fret Scales - not recommended for Gibson (MN804) a.co/d/06OFnMvp
And the straight edge is the a musicnomad tri-beam tool which I got here:
MusicNomad Tri-Beam 3 'n 1 Dual... www.amazon.ca/dp/B0BXFTBLW6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
These M-Musi guitars in my opinion are fantastic. They don't really need upgrading!
They are 1/3rd the price of any F brand with similar features. Crazy good! I have reviewed quite a few T-style guitars from 200$ to $600 in the last 2 years, and I haven't see anything yet that can compete with these Musis for the price!
Cheers,
J-Man

Nah just self thought... Don't learn from me as it's probably not correct! Haha
Awesome man! Yup I like gear and money in my bank account. These guitars give me both hahaha!
Wow, that is some crazy good picking! Sweet!
I am getting there but you amaze me every time I see you play
Your too kind DL☺️
so how do i find these returns
Cool thanks. I check those out.😄
