Thank you so much for this comment, now I don't have to try and type it out. It's incredibly frustrating when I see someone much older than me be so scared on a horse. Honestly, pull it together! There was sure as heck no immediate danger to be worried about. If you're calm your horse should feel a lot more secure.
I know kids watch these videos but i have to say to Gabby...HELL YES GIRL! I see so much of my younger riding self in her and she is improving so greatly she ABSOLUTELY has natural talent for it. Keep up the good work Gabby and the confidence!

I'll tell ya what Laura, that trotting will get you in shape fast! You have really got to do some confidence building exercises though. There's no reason to be so scared. Acting scared like that can be SUPER dangerous. You've been taking lessons for quite some time now, so you're not a new rider. You can do it!!!
I totally agree with you! That squeeling can upset your horse and when you want to stop, you pull on the reins and squeeze with your legs, until the horse stops. The horse is not the boss, you are!
Amy Louise Yes, I definitely know the history. Being scared and yelling out can cause a horse to spook and possibly cause a wreck. Dangerous. Confidence is critical when riding though and very important to build again after a fall. I’m 54 and have definitely fallen a few times, including broken ribs earlier this year. You pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and get back on. After the bones heal of course!
4:40 -everytime i get on a horse i say a prayer and if i die on a horse, then i die doing what i love best. I die doing what i was brought on this earth to do. I die doing what fulfils me in life. Im dead because my passion is dangerous. I take the risk every time my foot sets into my stirrup. Deep breaths and sit up. Breath the same breaths the horse breaths. Have your heart beat with the horses hoof beats. Think about why your on a horse, why you love the horse, why you are devoted hundreds of hours to taking hard riding lessons and pushing limits. For trails I think Laura should have a helmet cam if she is riding. I think this is safer and you have more control over your horses, Because you have both hands free to stop your horse. Love you ❤️😘

If you fell of a horse and had a serious injury would you have the same confidence? Laura’s come so far since her accident and just because she is scared now doesnt mean that she will never be confident again!

That trail ride looks a lot of fun. Kids stuck on the other side of bushes. Loose mini doing a runner, horses rolling in the water with the rider. The horses would have loved the antics!

OMG, I about died laughing in the end when Willow was just walking through the water. Gabby and Storm looked amazing jumping the twin trees. Maybe she could try a beginner cross country event or even a huntet pace (if they have those up there). Very good job Sophie for overcoming your fears. Laura, you are an incredibly strong person. Keep doing what your doing and things will only get better. One thing you might want to talk to Fiona about is maybe getting Stella a short shank jointed western curb for going on trails with. It has a snaffle mouth but a curb and longer shanks for just a little extra stopping power. Just a thought. Happy trails from Arkansas.

THREE THING YOU NEED TO CHANGE. -Get a helmet cam so you don’t have to only hold the reins with one hand. -Stay calm on your horse. -Also you can’t tell your horse to “stop looking at the grass” you have to make her. -If you don’t have any experience with it (like trail riding) get a professional! -Don’t stay up another horse’s but. -Don’t panic on a horse. -Please stop yelling on a horse. -Take control of your dang horse. -Don’t give your daughter your “afraid” of. I have bin on a trail ride, and fell off face first, down a hill.
1. If your stressed the horse is stressed so dont stress 2.horses will always wanna eat its natural control your reins 3.if you cant control or work with a horse dont own one 4.crying and whining doesn’t stop anything 5. If your crying or whining the horse senses fear and takes advantage of you 6.dont go up a horses butt because that horse might buck and then you have a bunch of problems

As hard as this sounds Laura, you just can’t be scared. The horses feed off that and they will become stressed too. You need to not worry about everything. Horses will be horses. They might trip, spook, bolt ect. You just need to try and get over this fear. You will be absolutely fine if you don’t worry.

Stella had you the whole time Laura! She was like “I got this! Leading the herd or going through water? No problem!” When you’re on a trail a lot of it is just autopilot, especially when you have a great trail horse like Stella there isn’t a need for micromanaging which is the fun of a trail! Just relaxing! Gabby and kailey looked great going over the logs!
Don’t worry Laura, it’s normal to be a little afraid when your trying new things. But don’t worry! You and Stella can work it out together, it will help build more trust and a bigger bond. I don’t mean to sound bossy, or like an online trainer, but I recommend doing some groundwork with her, like leading her around the arena, or making her stay and dropping the lead rope, picking it up and asking her to come without a tug. I find it works really well, it makes the horse know your in charge and they trust you. But, don’t let the girls do it, you should take time on your own, I bet it would work out really well for YOU and Stella. Btw, your hand placement looks great! Keep up the good work! xxx. -grace

Laura, I was taught that even when your scared to be on a horse you still need to be calm and confident. Horses can sense when your scared and that causes them to fell scared, so you need to talk to Stella let her know that everything is fine and that she is a good girl no matter what, that encourages her to feel confident.
The reason why she probably cantered up the hill, is because it's much easier to trot/canter upwards for them, especially if they're older. You probably also got a little spooked when she started to go up, and you felt the pushes from her butt, and it caused you to squeeze. It's alright, my little five year old's ( horse, lol ) first trail ride consisted of me being held/ponied loosely with the mecate, and I got so anxious. He's a saddlebred too, and so when I got super amped and nervous, he just got excited and wanted to go explore ahead of everyone else. It happens to the best of us 👍🏼
Hey Laura, Gabby, Sam and Sophie. The best way to stop Stella is to lean back and if that doesn't work then pull her head to the side so that she goes in a circle. I love you videos. I love your determination Laura and Sophie, you can do whatever you set your mind to. Don't use your bit as your control but your body language
(Sorry i always comment twice, people always tell me i have too much to say lol!) One very important art to learn is the art of laughing it off! It might not sound very effective but even a fake smile can do a lot in terms of confidence! When you laugh your brain goes “oh wait that means I’m happy! I’m doing great!” And it helps relieve some of the built up stress and panic and get your brain back into focus-mode! You might look a little silly doing it, but it’s definitely worth it in my opinion!
Horses a lot of the time will want to trot/canter up a hill because it's easier on them to get the momentum. Since Stella was just doing that to get up the hill, if it's easier, just remember that when going up hills, and get ready to hold her back, or make her do the serpentine pattern up or be behind a slower horse. But in all honesty, she is a ROCKSTAR on the trail! She just needs you to focus on leading, and staying calm and confident. She seems pretty at easy/comfortable out on the trail :) My horse is a speed demon, so I'm always 100% focused when trail riding, so when approaching hills I always make sure to just allow him to trot and keep him in a trot so he doesn't try to canter. Also, lean forward up hills and lean back down hills to help her stay balanced. :)

Laura, i think you should take a deep breath and chill out. Horses can tell when you are tense and they will use that to their advantage. You need to focus on relaxing your muscles and calming your mind. This will reflect well on soph as well! :)
I just have a tip for Sophie as I was at her stage 6 months ago, I feel her seat needs abit of improving as i have noticed her trot and canter are very bouncy, my tip for trot is to rise abit faster so the horse moves if they are too fast then slow the rising down. I used to ride my pony terribly, I would rise to fast and she would just canter so I eventually learnt to go with the horse and just enjoy it, so that’s my first tip to just fix her seat abit. Next tip is reins, I used to ride extra tight and then I ended up riding too loose and I have now learnt to tighten them abit . And my final tip is position, I know you guys ride like hunters but I have noticed that some times Sophie and Laura lean forward when they ride so I would just try and sit up while standing. I don’t mean to sound judgemental I just thought of these tips as in other videos I have noticed these things, I’m no expert, if anything I’m a competent novice. I love you guys so much. You got this Sofia your a great rider and there is nothing to worry about you’re one of the best riders I know😉😉and plus your emotional power connect to your horses emotions so if your calm your horse is calm but if you scared or excited then so will your horse 🐴
When Storm went down in the water all I could think of was Gabby’s expensive saddle! Looks like loads of fun but Laura you really need to keep your emotions in check and stop panicking. You were very focused on not letting Stella eat grass at all also but that’s the least of your worries. If you let little things like that go then you can focus on the more important things and possibly even relax. Stella is an excellent trail horse,she stops when the horse in front of her stops, she has a smooth trot you can sit and she neck reins so you can steer her with 1 hand. You will have a more relaxing ride if you keep yourself calm. This will help Sophie also.
Ok, I’m sorry but you’re clearly not comfortable on that horse. There’s nothing wrong with her she was just a little fast. I am a saddle seat rider so I am writing Morgan’s and saddlebred’s horses that are much more dangerous than these. but if you let any horse know that you’re uncomfortable they are going to start doing things that they want to do and not listen to you.
Omg everyone saying to them to get a grip should honestly just be quiet. Im actually super proud of laura for pushing PAST her fear and doing this. ALL of the horses were calm bc they were together. Horses were feeding off of each other not the riders. Yes horses do feed off of human emotion but they absolutely did the right thing by going in a group . They stayed together and kept talking the ones who were nervous down off of the ledge. Everyone really needs to calm down.
Why’s everyone hating on Laura cause she’s an adult she shouldn’t be acting like that ?! Anxiety, fear and panic attacks are real and when something quick happens that scares you, you don’t exactly think straight on what you should and shouldn’t do especially if you don’t ride that often ! People need to remember Laura isn’t as experienced and most of us and even though she has lessons it doesn’t mean she can’t be fearful and shouldn’t be put down because she’s scared as an adult !
When your on trail and your horse likes to eat the grass there is something that can help with that it is like a leather string that hooks to the pole or top of bridle and it comes to the saddle horn which is perfect cause you are in a western saddle so it might help comment if you think so it can keep their head up too by the way
Lovely seeing Gabby and storm jumping over logs and cantering along. Such a shame you ended up walking Laura - you have a horse to ride - Finn can be ponied, but it shouldn't stop you being in the saddle. Less screeching too as that can excite your horse - watch Stella's ears, they are back on you, not facing ahead so she can enjoy the trail. Stay up on Stella next time and you will get where you are going so much faster. Everyone has a horse to ride so don't give up your horse! 😉🐴
By far one of my most favorite videos you have ever posted! I loved when they jumped the “oxer”. Storm looks like he really enjoys outdoor adventures. Honestly, this video pissed me off. I've been on a horse who was extremely spooky. Want to know what I did, sucked it up. You can't even blame falling off(idk if this is after you fell) because I've fallen off and yet once I was able to get back on, I was fine. Your horse can tell if you are scared. Just clam down, stop yelling at Stella, and enjoy the ride. You can't own a horse if you are going to be this nervous. Simple as that

Taylor Gallant that’s not it at all?? i own a horse and went through a stage of being terrified to hack, doesn’t mean i should have sold her though? instead of patronising equestrians everytime they show signs of nerves, encourage them to work through it with an instructor and in the school.
If you fell of a horse and had a serious injury would you have the same confidence? Laura’s come so far since her accident and just because she is scared now doesnt mean that she will never be confident again!

OMG, I about died laughing in the end when Willow was just walking through the water. Gabby and Storm looked amazing jumping the twin trees. Maybe she could try a beginner cross country event or even a huntet pace (if they have those up there). Very good job Sophie for overcoming your fears. Laura, you are an incredibly strong person. Keep doing what your doing and things will only get better. One thing you might want to talk to Fiona about is maybe getting Stella a short shank jointed western curb for going on trails with. It has a snaffle mouth but a curb and longer shanks for just a little extra stopping power. Just a thought. Happy trails from Arkansas.

DayByDay Vlogs of course you do Laura. It’s just being a little more firm with your requests, so that she understands and respects them and obviously not helped by trying to do these things one handed. I’d really sort out a decent helmet cam or something similar for your trail rides 😊👍
THREE THING YOU NEED TO CHANGE.
-Get a helmet cam so you don’t have to only hold the reins with one hand.
-Stay calm on your horse.
-Also you can’t tell your horse to “stop looking at the grass” you have to make her.
-If you don’t have any experience with it (like trail riding) get a professional!
-Don’t stay up another horse’s but.
-Don’t panic on a horse.
-Please stop yelling on a horse.
-Take control of your dang horse.
-Don’t give your daughter your “afraid” of.
I have bin on a trail ride, and fell off face first, down a hill.
1. If your stressed the horse is stressed so dont stress
2.horses will always wanna eat its natural control your reins
3.if you cant control or work with a horse dont own one
4.crying and whining doesn’t stop anything
5. If your crying or whining the horse senses fear and takes advantage of you
6.dont go up a horses butt because that horse might buck and then you have a bunch of problems

As hard as this sounds Laura, you just can’t be scared. The horses feed off that and they will become stressed too. You need to not worry about everything. Horses will be horses. They might trip, spook, bolt ect. You just need to try and get over this fear. You will be absolutely fine if you don’t worry.
Laura don't listen to the people being rude. You are a brave, strong woman and a great example for your kids.

Stella had you the whole time Laura! She was like “I got this! Leading the herd or going through water? No problem!” When you’re on a trail a lot of it is just autopilot, especially when you have a great trail horse like Stella there isn’t a need for micromanaging which is the fun of a trail! Just relaxing! Gabby and kailey looked great going over the logs!

Don’t worry Laura, it’s normal to be a little afraid when your trying new things. But don’t worry! You and Stella can work it out together, it will help build more trust and a bigger bond. I don’t mean to sound bossy, or like an online trainer, but I recommend doing some groundwork with her, like leading her around the arena, or making her stay and dropping the lead rope, picking it up and asking her to come without a tug. I find it works really well, it makes the horse know your in charge and they trust you. But, don’t let the girls do it, you should take time on your own, I bet it would work out really well for YOU and Stella. Btw, your hand placement looks great! Keep up the good work!

Laura, I was taught that even when your scared to be on a horse you still need to be calm and confident. Horses can sense when your scared and that causes them to fell scared, so you need to talk to Stella let her know that everything is fine and that she is a good girl no matter what, that encourages her to feel confident.
No offence to Laura at all but I think the best part of the video was watching her freak out😂

The reason why she probably cantered up the hill, is because it's much easier to trot/canter upwards for them, especially if they're older. You probably also got a little spooked when she started to go up, and you felt the pushes from her butt, and it caused you to squeeze. It's alright, my little five year old's ( horse, lol ) first trail ride consisted of me being held/ponied loosely with the mecate, and I got so anxious. He's a saddlebred too, and so when I got super amped and nervous, he just got excited and wanted to go explore ahead of everyone else. It happens to the best of us 👍🏼
Hey Laura, Gabby, Sam and Sophie. The best way to stop Stella is to lean back and if that doesn't work then pull her head to the side so that she goes in a circle. I love you videos. I love your determination Laura and Sophie, you can do whatever you set your mind to.
Don't use your bit as your control but your body language
(Sorry i always comment twice, people always tell me i have too much to say lol!) One very important art to learn is the art of laughing it off! It might not sound very effective but even a fake smile can do a lot in terms of confidence! When you laugh your brain goes “oh wait that means I’m happy! I’m doing great!” And it helps relieve some of the built up stress and panic and get your brain back into focus-mode! You might look a little silly doing it, but it’s definitely worth it in my opinion!

Horses a lot of the time will want to trot/canter up a hill because it's easier on them to get the momentum. Since Stella was just doing that to get up the hill, if it's easier, just remember that when going up hills, and get ready to hold her back, or make her do the serpentine pattern up or be behind a slower horse. But in all honesty, she is a ROCKSTAR on the trail! She just needs you to focus on leading, and staying calm and confident. She seems pretty at easy/comfortable out on the trail :)
My horse is a speed demon, so I'm always 100% focused when trail riding, so when approaching hills I always make sure to just allow him to trot and keep him in a trot so he doesn't try to canter. Also, lean forward up hills and lean back down hills to help her stay balanced. :)

Laura, i think you should take a deep breath and chill out. Horses can tell when you are tense and they will use that to their advantage. You need to focus on relaxing your muscles and calming your mind. This will reflect well on soph as well! :)
I just have a tip for Sophie as I was at her stage 6 months ago, I feel her seat needs abit of improving as i have noticed her trot and canter are very bouncy, my tip for trot is to rise abit faster so the horse moves if they are too fast then slow the rising down. I used to ride my pony terribly, I would rise to fast and she would just canter so I eventually learnt to go with the horse and just enjoy it, so that’s my first tip to just fix her seat abit. Next tip is reins, I used to ride extra tight and then I ended up riding too loose and I have now learnt to tighten them abit . And my final tip is position, I know you guys ride like hunters but I have noticed that some times Sophie and Laura lean forward when they ride so I would just try and sit up while standing. I don’t mean to sound judgemental I just thought of these tips as in other videos I have noticed these things, I’m no expert, if anything I’m a competent novice. I love you guys so much. You got this Sofia your a great rider and there is nothing to worry about you’re one of the best riders I know😉😉and plus your emotional power connect to your horses emotions so if your calm your horse is calm but if you scared or excited then so will your horse 🐴
When Storm went down in the water all I could think of was Gabby’s expensive saddle!
Looks like loads of fun but Laura you really need to keep your emotions in check and stop panicking. You were very focused on not letting Stella eat grass at all also but that’s the least of your worries. If you let little things like that go then you can focus on the more important things and possibly even relax.
Stella is an excellent trail horse,she stops when the horse in front of her stops, she has a smooth trot you can sit and she neck reins so you can steer her with 1 hand. You will have a more relaxing ride if you keep yourself calm. This will help Sophie also.

Ok, I’m sorry but you’re clearly not comfortable on that horse. There’s nothing wrong with her she was just a little fast. I am a saddle seat rider so I am writing Morgan’s and saddlebred’s horses that are much more dangerous than these. but if you let any horse know that you’re uncomfortable they are going to start doing things that they want to do and not listen to you.
Omg everyone saying to them to get a grip should honestly just be quiet. Im actually super proud of laura for pushing PAST her fear and doing this. ALL of the horses were calm bc they were together. Horses were feeding off of each other not the riders. Yes horses do feed off of human emotion but they absolutely did the right thing by going in a group . They stayed together and kept talking the ones who were nervous down off of the ledge. Everyone really needs to calm down.

Why’s everyone hating on Laura cause she’s an adult she shouldn’t be acting like that ?! Anxiety, fear and panic attacks are real and when something quick happens that scares you, you don’t exactly think straight on what you should and shouldn’t do especially if you don’t ride that often ! People need to remember Laura isn’t as experienced and most of us and even though she has lessons it doesn’t mean she can’t be fearful and shouldn’t be put down because she’s scared as an adult !
When your on trail and your horse likes to eat the grass there is something that can help with that it is like a leather string that hooks to the pole or top of bridle and it comes to the saddle horn which is perfect cause you are in a western saddle so it might help comment if you think so it can keep their head up too by the way

Such a shame you ended up walking Laura - you have a horse to ride - Finn can be ponied, but it shouldn't stop you being in the saddle.
Less screeching too as that can excite your horse - watch Stella's ears, they are back on you, not facing ahead so she can enjoy the trail.

By far one of my most favorite videos you have ever posted! I loved when they jumped the “oxer”. Storm looks like he really enjoys outdoor adventures. I also loved when storm bucked and rolled in the water. Definitely laughed a lot with this video! Also Sophie is doing so amazing with Finn. I’m SO impressed!

Honestly, this video pissed me off. I've been on a horse who was extremely spooky. Want to know what I did, sucked it up. You can't even blame falling off(idk if this is after you fell) because I've fallen off and yet once I was able to get back on, I was fine. Your horse can tell if you are scared. Just clam down, stop yelling at Stella, and enjoy the ride. You can't own a horse if you are going to be this nervous. Simple as that
