I didn't know the roof was hipped and tiled, never got up there. 620 apartments, someone is not going to have a good view, at least the building has been secured. I like the comparison with previous flights and the wide frame giving the scene context as to the location. Most informative.
As you said Nick not much progress in 2 years, reminds me of the littlewoods building , seems the developers are more interested in the new builds first to get the money in ,the mill seems to have been put on hold ,as you would have thought they'd have progressed more than gutting it out and putting a bit of scaffolding up the adjacent warehouse hasn't been touched yet ,and I think those cranes are there for the new blocks and not the mill.I bet when you go back you'll see more progress on those getting built than any on the mill development.
It surely can't be 628 apartments in the old Heaps Building alone. That has to include the surrounding plots, such as that which the cranes sit on. I doubt that the apartments in the Heaps building will have much view, later, even if the attraction of being 'central' is good. It'll be interesting to see how it develops over time (maybe I'll go digging for plans at some point). It looks as though they've got to the point of base stabilisation of the main outer fabric after gutting the interior. Enjoyed the panorama of the city centre skyline.
I think they'll be building out all the surrounding apartments first before properly finishing the heaps mill. They've built the hotel & 19 storey apartment building and also another apartment building has sprung up behind it. Will be harder to get views after this year I think as you can see a new core rising next to it.
Thank you !
Very interesting keep up the good work
It still looks way better than the modern buildings to the left, they look in need of refurbishment already!
Interesting thanks Mr D. 620 apartments, wow ! that's going to be a tight fit, still the facade has been saved, which is good
