    I totally understand why you look for the vintage Coach bags. The vintage Coach bags had a quality that most bag manufacturers couldn’t match, and the style is timeless. With proper care, they last FOREVER.

      Can’t wait to see what you do for indents in leather and removing that large water mark. I’ve heard using a steamer with a towel can help with inventions. Would love your thoughts on that, and if you’ve tried that method?

    After watching this I'm going to search your videos for how to remove the dents and watermarks as well as the fix for frayed straps.❤

    Nice bag. Back when these purses were brand new there was no shine or sheen at all just a matt that wont show up as any sheen on camera at all those are far and in between theres one creator who has a couple vids on this subject and shows the purses but for the life of me cannot remember who

      I definitely disagree with that statement😂

      @@birdybloom2 What is it you disagree on? Have you not bought a new Coach from the store back in the day? LOL! NO sheen, NO shine whatsoever. Aniline has NO shine.

      @@Bella-yb6gg camera and lighting is everything. To say that a bag will not have any glow/sheen under any lighting is just not true. I have handled many many new in box with tags. I was not into Coach 20 years ago, nor would I have had a camera to take a picture of it or film if I had 🤣 If you can think of the video that you are referring to though, I would love to watch it 🥰

      @@birdybloom2 There is a couple creators that showed brand new vintage Coach that has not seen the light of day and no shine whatsoever on video and they go over that. Not sure what channels but there are a couple. I myself even remember how they looked back in the day. To this day you can go to a leather shop/store and look at true Aniline leathers no shine or sheen at all and OMG the smell walking in such place is heaven

      I myself don't like the matt finish. I love old houses and antique furniture. I don't want either to be a time capsule.

    Thank you for this video - it explains a few things about some of the bags I've collected.
    I have a question - I heard you say on this video and I've heard some members on your Facebook page say not to dunk a bag if it doesn't need it. It's a relief actually bc I'm realizing that I think I have been over working some bags I have gotten over the years that were already in good shape🙂 I'm curious though - how do you clean the interior of the bags if you don't dunk it?
    I'm not a reseller, just personal use, but always feel like I want them to be fresh even if they only have light wear. I usually just let them sit around for a while and then I feel like maybe they are aired out or something. Is there a way to "clean" and/or freshen the interiors that you can recommend? And if you have any tips for cutting down smells - would LOVE to pick your brain on that too!!
    As always - great content - thank you!!!!

      A powerful, small handheld vacuum. I will also take a small tooth brush and really brush the corners and crevices & vacuum again. Then, with a suede brush, brush the interior and vacuum again. If you feel the need to disinfect, a damp cloth with a 50/50 of water and vinegar will do the trick. Allow to dry then brush the nap again. For odors, I use long methods. Some odors just need dapple sunlight and air. If a bag smells like it has been stored in a basement, I wipe the entire thing down with the vinegar mixture and rotate outside for days. Smoke is a bit harder (and note, will not go away with simply dunking/washing either). Perfume as well. So, I leave them inside a box with newspaper and charcoal packets for a month or so. Then sit outside and this does the trick for me. Then, some bags just need a dunk! If a bag is full of gunk inside and out, I dunk. If you want to remove oils and water marks without dunking, then surface cleaning with saddle soap will do this trick. Sometimes, you need multiple rounds with conditioning in between.

    I got a bag that is matte like this but the leather is stiff, not supple. I assume because it’s a light colored bag it didn’t get any use so I’m giving it lots of love. Parts of the strap were stiff too! So I run it thru my fingers and get all the stiffness out. Like cracking a long loose glow stick. It’s hard to explain 😅

    • @birdybloom2
      @birdybloom2  Рік тому

      Did you make sure it was authentic? Light colored bags can feel a bit different sometimes. Not sure why, I gave also had super soft and supple barely used white bags.

      I shop everywhere online but beware of counterfeits. There is not a single platform that is exempt of them. It is the seller’s responsibility to determine authenticity though so if you find yourself with one, always request a return/full refund through the site. Best wishes!!

    How long would it take to clean a Cmc pocket book and what would you useto clean the purse

      CMC? Please share pics of your bag either in the Vintage Coach Eyecandy Group on Facebook or via email at BirdyBloom_rehab@yahoo.com & I can advise you. Every bag should be approached differently in accordance to age, style, leather, color & what the bag needs.

    In November of 2023 do you think it’s unreasonable to charge a firm $600 for almost new/never used, or lightly used ‘96 British tan Taft bag? Condition of leather same as the bag you showcased here. I know this is can be a very personal question bc different ppl place different value on items based on their personal preference/desire. Thanks for your opinion.

    • @birdybloom2
      @birdybloom2  8 місяців тому +1

      I don’t think it’s unreasonable. I commented further on another post basically stating it is personal. There are prices I DO gawk at and say no way. I wouldn’t for a like new BT Taft at $600 but I also wouldn’t pay that. Why? Because I don’t personally collect them or desire the style. There are plenty of bags that I do splurge on. Have a few coming though I was suppose to be on a purchasing hiatus 😂😅

    Are the edges painted or just burnished? I thought the vintage bags edges were just burnished?

    • @birdybloom2
      @birdybloom2  Рік тому

      Well burnished means polishing by rubbing. The edges that I am referring to are raw/suede. Some straps have no raw edges (such as the duffle sac strap) which is why I’m specifying. You cannot burnish raw/suede leather. So no, the edges are not ‘burnished’.
