- Aircraft experimentation was at an all time high during the Second World War. The conflict saw weird and wonderful designs of all shapes and sizes. Perhaps one of the strangest was that of the Vought V-173, known as the Flying Pancake due to its disc like shape, it certainly evokes thoughts of flying saucers or UFOs. In today's video we look at the Flying Pancake of WWII.

We think of this pancake as strange.
But we are at the infancy and aviation.
My experiments show that their are a far greater variety of flying machine designs than those that have been constructed.
What will it look like in 100 years time?
