- iOS 16.4 released without a feature enabled and today Apple enabled it. iOS 16.4 and iOS 16.4.1 now have the option on HomePod for Sound Recognition. Looks like it is also available on the HomePod 1st gen. I have it in Home settings and in the HomePod settings.

My 1st gen HomePod also has the feature. I tried testing out the feature by playing an alarm sound right next to the HomePod, but instead my HomePod mini in another room detected the sound before the 1st gen HomePod.
Great video as always Aaron! I did see the same new feature and I’m using my 1st Gen HomePods! Just wanted everyone else to know that their OG HomePod will also have this new feature 😊

You mentioned it will notify Apple Watch as well. How does it do that? I’m deaf at night and use watch as alarm to wake. Would it be that type of vibration, another words continual until I shut off?

What is the best camera that works with Apple that uses and you can refer me to?
How do the sound recognition features for HomePod compare to Alexa? Amazon has had this feature for a while, and I went with Amazon / Google Home over Homekit as the smart lights and other devices I use, don't have HomeKit support. I do like seeing the progress Apple is making though on Homekit features and compatibility though. I do use HomeKit a little bit, mainly I can use it with my iPhone, and Apple TV, but I don't own a HomePod, or have any third party devices to really use it beyond Apple Devices. I do have a Roku, and that supports HomeKit, but it's still limited.

There’s a bug involoving airdrop when sending photos from iphone to ipad pro and vise versa stocking with waiting and not sending ios 16.4.1
I’ve noticed my Favorites in Apple Maps keep getting deleted while on 16.1. I have added them several times, but within a few days, they get deleted again.
Now I have even more reason to buy a HomePod.

I can’t turn this feature on on even though my HomePod is on IOS16.4.1. When I turn this feature on it it quickly turns off.
After setting this up, I tested a smoke detector less than 10 feet from my HomePod mini, but the mini did not respond to the smoke detector alarm.
UK here. Updated and checked settings. Test my linked smoke alarm system. HomePod mini about 6’ from an alarm. HomePod/HomeKit didn’t respond at all. 16.4.1
Took about 10 seconds and then it worked
Guys, i have an iphone 11 and i wanna upgrade, i was think for an iphone 12, but i think im going for an 12 pro , yall think it is worth it?
Add all sounds from iPhone sound recognition and put it in shortcuts! I want 911 dialing on my phone if an alarm is sounding or a notification that my microwave is done and the TV to pause so I can get my popcorn.

That’s been available on Wyze cameras for about 3 years
This update has a lot of bugs including sudden stop of playback (music, UA-cam videos, etc) and I cannot believe more people aren’t reporting this… will update to the beta 16.5 to see if it gets better
**My Experience with HomePod Gen 2*. I will try to be brief as I can. I'm all about Apple Eco System. I got 2 for a stereo pair. AMAZING! I got it as a home theater setup and was well pleased. I upgraded from no "home theater" setup, and i love the minimalism. After a few days of the HomePods not telling me what the humidity was in my living room and just saying it was still calibrating Apple had me swap them for new ones. As of now my new left one is all good and very responsive to my phone and apple tv remote. The right HomePod does not respond to my apple tv remote. When I hit mute it doesn't mute, and when I turn the volume up or down it doesn't do it. Walked through many hard reset's with apple, the whole red spin and wait for 3 beeps thing. Finally, took it to apple and going to be swapping this right one for a new one. Thoroughly disappointed with how many times I've had to contact support and go to the store, but I'm a sucker for Apple so here I am trying to get things situated. Hope this helps or if anyone has encountered the same let me know!
I like this new feature and it would be even better if Apple make offline too 🤔
