This has literally been like a medicine for my soul in these difficult times..id say ive listened to it more than 75 times..it just makes me happy
.thank you kind Sir for your reading ...best wishes and stay strong all. Love this book.
What a lovely thing to say. I'm glad you found it valuable
Quote from Charles Dickens: "Have a heart that never hardens, and a temper that never tires, and a touch that never hurts." Your offering comes close to this ideal. Much appreciated.
I can't believe how good this is, and how kind and generous you are to have given it away. What a lovely person you must be. Things are so awful in so many ways in the world right now; I've been feeling sort of hopeless and lost for the past week or so, and coming across this is a balm to the spirit. "So shines a good deed in a weary world."
Well, what a nice thing to say!
Never enough
@Baxza What could have possibly inspired this comment? I would love a careful explanation. For my records.
@Jakson Jabs I would love to know what happened to you in your formative years to eventually lead you to this comment. It must be a rousing tale!
Of exactly the same sentiment. Very well stated. Thank you.
The rambling adventures of three Edwardian gentlemen. You, sir, have the ideal voice to project Kenneth Graham's whimsical and brilliantly descriptive narrative.
Oh I am so blessed by this. I'm high risk in quarantine living in the USA but British. To hear your lovely voice and beautiful accent tell this wonderful story takes me back to my childhood and much simpler times. If only life was as easy as ratty and moles. Thank you so much for a grand labor of love and for making my weekend special.
What a lovely thing to say :)
Reading the comments I get the distinct feeling I am not the only person who is somewhat mature in years here! Thank you for finding the time to read this classic to us all.
That's no problem, and given how long ago I made it some of the kids who first listened to it must now be in their twenties 😅
What a treat and a treasure to find. Thank you. I could curl up and listen to your voice as you read. I wish there was such a thing such as fairy tale reading groups, meeting where there are cushions and blankets on the floor, a fireside and a voice like yours. A dream come true.
Glad it did the trick :)
Possibly the best and most appropriately read version on UA-cam. Thank you.
That's very nice of you to say
My favourite version is narrated by Richard Briers. It is emotional and amazing! Listen to it! The Best one!
@@ОльгаВоробьева-щ8ю Thank you. I shall!
@@ОльгаВоробьева-щ8ю I agree that version is wonderful. And being a great actor Richard Briars gives each character it's own voice. Unfortunately though, it is hugely abridged, which is a great pity.
Listening to this has been an encapsulating experience. Your voice is clear and well suited to the text. Your received pronunciation is tailored well to the story and characters therein. A hint of West Country accent gives the narration a homely feel too. Just wonderful.
Oh please do more! It's such a tragedy that I cannot hear more of your lovely and soothing speaking voice.
Ivan Solomon Nathan loves milk incredibly. Thanks! I will do more some day - just been too busy studying for the last couple of years
higurro Ah, alright. ^^
This is so so similar to the audiobook I had on tape as a child, and it means very much that I've found a recording that's similar. Thank you so much, it is hugely calming and after a difficult past couple of years it makes a big difference to have a little feeling of home in this recording
Len Jackson That's really decent of you to say so. I had a version read by Alan Bennett on cassette tapes when I was little, which is why I picked this book to record. Funny how those little things stay with you
I listen to this for 10 minutes every night, year round. If you have more stories anywhere, I'd love to hear them!
That's lovely to hear. I do have a Peter Rabbit reading around somewhere I think. Keep meaning to do more!
Thank you Higurro for recording and posting this audiobook. You have an excellent reading voice, and your accent is right for this work. The only other complete audiobook I could find on youtube featured an American accent, which sounds wrong for such an English book, at least to my ears (even if I am American too.)
Ilah Jarvis Thanks very much!
This is wonderful. Easy on the ear and just the right Southern English accent (as far as I'm concerned anyway). Ever so slightly flattened vowels at times but that adds to it's charm and takes it away from a professional actor's voice, which in turn makes it far more "homely", just as this book requires. It's a tour de force and you have a really natural way of putting this across. I think you have also given yourself away as a thoroughly nice person too. Well done ... and if you ever feel like trying a new project I'm sure there will be many people pleased to hear it. Thank you.
Keith Balding Thank you very much - I am originally a southerner as you suspected, but spent 14 years living up north, which was quite handy for doing the Badger and the court clerk!
Yes, I noticed the Badger had the hint of Northern in his voice. Very good it was too. My own accent as a child was very "RAF" posh. Got knocked out of me in Birmingham, where I lived during my grammar school years. I then went to Art College where I encountered my first Northerners. (Bolton was a revelation!) I pick up accents FAR too quickly.
I can see that taking on "Wind" was a real marathon ... but you did it! So well done. Any time you decide to tackle another you will have a fan here. :-)
My children and I just finished listening to Chapter 9... I'm so very deeply moved... You read so well. Thank you for sharing your gift with us. Tell us more about yourself or point us to your website, please! Thank you! Katie
Thanks very much! Unfortunately I don't have a website and this is only the first time I've tried this, but when I get a bit more time I'm definitely going to do more, with a better mic too.
Thank you so much for this reading. We listen to it every evening before sleep - so peaceful and calming. And even after literally dozens of listenings we still laugh at the parts with Toad! We hope you will read some more chapter books of this length and longer. The illustrations are beautiful. Yes - please do release this on an audiobook if you can. Don't know what we'd do if the internet goes down! :)
Georganna Woods It's really lovely to hear that. I got a new microphone a month ago and have been trying to decide whether I should do The Hobbit, or an audiobook of a story I've just published. Either way, there'll be more out this year!
Oh, this is wonderful news! I'm a great fan of this recording, and more from you would be fantastic.
I have a suggestion: I think you would do a fabulous job with "The Once and Future King" by T.H. White. If by any chance you haven't already read it, I think you'd enjoy it very much. Or for something not so long, "Mistress Masham's Repose", also T.H. White, and just as beautifully written, funny, and wise. Your way with characterization and your sense of humor would do either or both justice.
Legit listen to this almost every night to help me sleep.
Thank you!!
Great reader! Thanks so much for loading!🌹
Wonderful , your calm and gentle voice is just right for Wind In The Willows. Great timing and pace. We really enjoyed it . Thankyou Sir
Many thanks; glad you enjoyed it
My kids are listening as part of our home education. What a lovely voice for the book. We appreciate your English accent that much more. Many thanks!
Nicely read so far , don’t doubt it will be a go to for sleeping to even before hearing it all . Thanks for taking the time .
Thanks 😃
Wonderful! Just subbed! I have loved this book all my life, and you read it so very well!
I'm very glad to hear that :)
great voice and a great listen. Nice job for kids and sleeping. You definitely should be putting up more classics....
Thanks very much!

Thank you sir!
Who listened to the whole thing? *me* i was tired and learning about this book in skl so i decided to listen to it and i fell asleep
This is wonderful. Not sure if this channel is still active, but I have subscribed as I do hope to listen to other stories. Thank you for the amount of time and creativity you've put into this. And thank you for not including ads every few minutes as this will be my new bedtime listening.
No problem at all. I must get round to releasing something proper at some point - it's been eight years after all 😂
@@higurro yes, I am late to the party! You definitely need to post another.
@@Bap0486 I did make a start on Alice in Wonderland about three years back, but realised I didn't actually like the story that much so abandoned it!
@@higurro the Wind in the Willows is a fairy tale masterpiece! Perfection! And you read it beautifully!!!!!!!!! Best story ever! Thank you SO much! I find the “professional” recordings irritating! You bring it all to life! Every word! 💕💕💕👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💕💕💕👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💕💕💕👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐
So happy I found this! The Wind in the Willows is the book for this month in my book club and it is not easy to get books where we live, now I will listen instead!
Glad to be of help!
@@higurro Still listening and must say I so love the illustrations too!
Absolutely beautiful! You have such a clear, soothing voice. I listen to this when I'm trying to fall asleep. Thank you for giving us this lovely story. Have you recorded any other books that your fans could listen to?
Heya! Glad you like it. I've got The Tale of Peter Rabbit, although that's only very short. Did have a go at Alice in Wonderland about a year ago, but I didn't like how it was going and gave up on it. They take such a long time to make and I've been trying to focus on writing
higurro Thank you. I look forward to hearing more from you. I downloaded this video so I can listen to again in the future.
I auditioned for a play at a theatre and I got in the play is the wind in the willows so this will help me 😀
So nice of you.
Thank you.
Hello from Moscow.
Wow. What an inspiration! Thank you
Thanks for uploading this classic one of my childhood favourites
No problem! I love that people are still watching and commenting after so many years
With the fine reading.. Long may it continue buddy
Very good book
Your voice seems perfect for this story and i'm very much enjoying reading along with this recording :) I saw your comment to Avery and I agree that Ratty and Mole are the best, I think i love Ratty's character best but i really love their friendship too, it is endearing.
I know what you mean - you forget they haven't always known each other almost straight away. Thanks for your comment!
Please please post more books with your wonderful expressive voice! Have you done Alice in Wonderland?
I did start on that actually, but stopped as I didn't like how it was going... Maybe I should carry on?
Sirius Metta I’ve just listened to Alice Through the Looking Glass read by John Guilgud, not quite complete but as good as. The reading was excellent as would be so, but the recording wasn’t, it sounded as though he was reading it in an echo chamber, of maybe in an empty room. ,
@@higurro oh yes! Please do! 🌹🙏🏼
@@poetryjones7946 I keep threatening to make more 😅 Maybe I'll try narrating my own writing
Quite agree with Gloria. And, which is as important we have 'The Piper at the Gates of Dawn'; what reading is complete without it? Thank you.
Thanks! It's amazing to me that people still enjoy something I made eight years ago
so helpful! thank you SO much! it is amazing that you spend so much time on this, to benefit others. :)
This is great! Thank you so much! Such a lovely peaceful reading.
Thank you very much! I think I'll have to have a go at another one of these

Please Keep your head above water and have a Fantastic Week.

Thanks very much!
Excellent reading, thank you so much ❤️ I’m subbed.
Well done.
This is always my go-to version of Wind in the Willows read aloud. Is there anyway I could get my hands on the audio file? I'd like to have it available like an audiobook if possible. Thanks so much!
That's a cool suggestion. If I were able to make an audiobook file available, what would be the best place/way for people to get it? SoundCloud? Audible? Somewhere else?
@@higurro Thanks for offering! Either one I suppose - wherever it would be possible to purchase or download the file.
I really appreciate your reading, it will really help me when I participate in the school play, next year.
Ps. The play is "The Wind in the Willows"
Many thanks, very glad to have helped. What part are you playing?
Dont know yet, I am hoping for Mr. Toad.
higurro Hello Higurro,
I'm happy to tell you that I got the part of Rat.
Thanks again for your reading, it really helped me.
Avery Stratton
He's one of my favourite characters because he's very principled and brave
Avery Stratton well done!.. i hope it went well...i bet you " did" a wonderful Ratty ! ( i love Rat and Mole the best. )
love this
This is so great thank you very much
Wow that was great thank you very much
Thanks, very kind
Well read
Thanks very much
Thankyou, I watched anxiety inducing stuff, like an idiot, and am taking solace here.
this helped me so i don't have to read my school book thx
No worries :D Although if you get a copy illustrated by EH Shepherd it's well worth looking through for the pictures!
thanks will do
Agreed
Liam Sykes surely reading it is the most important thing for spellings, grammar etc, or is that not taken into account in exams these days?
Thank you so much for this wonderful recording and illustrations. It has brought a familiar and loved book to life.
May I ask which edition of the book it is read from?
And, where can your own books and art worked be found?
With appreciation and wishing you well.
My pleasure! I can't recall the year but it's a hardback edition illustrated by Ernest H Shepherd. Alas, my own books are all unpublished (i.e. unpublishable) or in partial states of completion, however I'm currently trying to find an agent for a new nonfiction on place-making and architecture. Although not quite in the same vein as WitW, you can also find some articles I've written about artificial intelligence on my website aienvisions.com/, on Patreon www.patreon.com/sammywoodford, and recently for The Planner, the magazine of the Royal Town Planning Institute www.theplanner.co.uk/2023/06/14/making-new-heritage-contemporary-vs-traditional-historic-townscape
Thank you for kindly replying. Wishing you Happy Holidays.
We love you!!!
Merci.
Good video 5/5
May i ask which edition you are reading from and which illustrator took part in it?
Hiya, this is the Egmont hardback edition from 1971 illustrated by EH Shepherd, who was well known for also doing Winnie the Pooh books, although the illustrations in this video are mine.
I'm doing a play of The Wind Of The Willows
JammyMonkey AJ Hey, you play AJ? You should buddy me! I am xxitzzoexx
ok
is this the complete version
Sure is
Now we just need sound effects like river sounds
That's a cool idea!
thx
😀
I think the wild wood is symbolic of a woman or female companionship.
This is brill thx

Hi
Hi
Thought this reading was great, but a little slow.
So for any college students reading this for Children's Lit, I'd listen to
it a speed 1.25 or speed 1.5. It's much faster and still understandable.
+Beverly P Yes, it is a bit, isn't it? I was going more for bedtime story than college literature, but that's an interesting suggestion.
I thought the pace was PERFECT! Lovely reading.
Beverly P hahaha thanks 😂
@@higurro Please, do not speed up your rate of speaking; it is perfect, especially for this book. People needing to rush through life, and/or avoid reading their assignments is their problem, not yours.
How many subs do you have?
Oh, not too many. It's not the kind of video that really drives subs as I only upload so infrequently. I think there are about 280 now.
higurro you replied so quickly and nice video I really injoyed it
Haha no worries!

I’d send rat if he wasn’t a poet😂
You reed to slow
Agreed

X-acutor 7 You spell too wrong.
Consider learning how to spell two letter, and four letter words, before criticizing others.
I don't like this
So what's the problem? Did I read it badly? Should I have used a better mic? Didn't I make enough artwork for it?
I do like this. The illustrations were beautiful and set the mood. The audio-quality wasn't perfect, but considering the effort you went through, I'd say that is nit-picking.
Max Matson Thanks very much. I'm getting a new microphone next week which might be a bit better than this one, which was just my dictaphone with an old sponge stuck to the end.
SkullmasterHD:...How gracious, and well-mannered, of you to share your opinion.
@@higurro It is perfect, just as you recorded it, and performed it; and the artwork is wonderful!
