Me Too as I’m 77 years old and since November 2019 I’ve been going downhill health wise due to That Evil Manufactured Virus. So my life has been shortened 😢I spend alot of time in bed listening to audiobooks. Thank you for this fun time.
I loved this book when I was a kid. Then, to my surprise, I found it on VHS when my children were preschool age. It became one of their favorite movies to watch.
Your voice & the amount of emotion you put into all of the character makes such a difference, also by hearing your voice makes me feel that your a joveal ( excuse spelling, it's not a word I use I often ) man, warm & friendly. Thank you for the story. It's great
I like this story time alot feels like my grandpa beans is reading to me I don't care thay who ever can call me what thay what I call it big kid at heart I just can't help my self
I remember seeing several parts of the beautiful animated series with beautiful puppets on Polish TV. With a one-person translation lector, quite apt, but I could not hear the English of the dubbing actors in its full beauty. Not that I knew English at that time, but I loved the music of the language even then. A very long time ago it had been. And I have never had an opportunity to read the book. Mr. Jacobi reading it to me as a bedtime story, at my current age of 58 - is a beautiful way to get to know this beautiful book - at least in its abridged version. Thank you ❤
This guy was on a Frasier episode and his character was deliberately giving an awful Shakespeare monologue, yet it was still entertaining to hear his rendition of it.
Thank you so so much for this! I listened to it as a child and no other version sounds quite the same, I've been searching for ages! It's made me very happy!
This reading saved my life. In times of awful pain, unbearable depression this send me off to consoling, sustaining sleep. Every time I woke with terrors, I simply put it on again and started the process of calming myself down, I love Derek Jacobi for his talent and his patience in attaining Perfection.
Enjoyed this adaptation of the wind and willows and remember Derek jakobi narrating some stories from Story teller marshall a story book with tape my dad you save up and used to get me every fortnight from the news agent. Happy memories.
Derek Jacobi Is Best Known As The Voice Of Mr Narrator In The 2007 BBC Studios And Ragdoll Productions Children's Live Action Television Series In The Night Garden The Original Series. Thanks Mate. X
Sir Derek Jacobi is a well established stage and film actor with a great voice. He was in Underworld with Kate Beckinsale and Gladiator with Russel Crowe to name some of the big movies. He also narrates the ghost stories of M.R.James which I highly recommend.
This is marvelous! I love Derek Jacobi’s narration!! And it does say ‘abridged’ which can mean most anything. I, too, love the Brother Cadfael readings by Mr. Jacobi. Can they be brought back?
My sentiments exactly I miss Cadfael there are only 2 the holy thief and the potters field. Lost count how many times I have seen them. Please bring back more 🙏
@@sunriseproductions4983 Thank you for this delightful audio book. Btw, you did include the word "Abridged" in the title. So you do not need to apologize.
Sir Derek Jacobi is a well established English stage, TV and film actor. Some of the big movies he was in are Underworld with Kate Beckinsale and Gladiator with Russel Crowe. On British TV he is famous for TV series such as "I,Claudius"(obviously set in Roman times) and "Cadfael" where he plays a medieval monk who solves mysteries. Took me back to childhood. Derek Jacobi is brilliant.
My first association with him was 'Secret of NIMH', as Nicodemus 😊
He is but Michael Horden's unabridged rendition on audible is superb.
I was thoroughly charmed by a narcissistic toad, thanks to Mr. Jacobi's brilliant performance.
As a child I greatly enjoyed “I Claudius” with Derek Jacobi.
I had a cat called Claudipus in honour of that marvalous drama, which I still have on DVD. 😊
Priceless! Completely priceless!!
I'm 57, and thoroughly enjoyed this delightful whimsical tale. Thank you!!

Derek Jacobi is one of my favorite narrators. He did a fantastic job with “Voyage of the Dawn Treader” and “Tales from the Perilous Realm”.
He is also fantastic at reading ghost stories as he really brings the works of M.R.James to life.
This guy was on a Frasier episode and his character was deliberately giving an awful Shakespeare monologue, yet it was still entertaining to hear his rendition of it.
That episode was hilarious.
I still remember this book from my childhood!

Abridged?? I'll send if I can figure out what's missing. Probably the chapter about Portly and the Green Man
Well, this is lovely, of course, but it’s anything but “complete”! The complete book takes six or seven hours to read aloud.
My apologies for the misleading title, glad you enjoyed it though!
