Si Bheag Si Mhor O'Carolan celtic harp tune

- My arrangement of Sí Bheag, Sí Mhór was inspired by the bluebells in our local wood - where I recorded this version. The flowers are beautiful and I hope you enjoy the music.
Sí Bheag, Sí Mhór is about a battle between two tribes of fairies - and the bluebell forest seems appropriate. I've used "bell-like" sounds in the music.
You can get a version with higher-quality pictures and sound at www.vimeo.com/730771 which you can also download to keep on your machine if you like.
I know why but I won't say the reasons, this makes me cry. OK I will tell. This makes me feel like a real person and brings peace to my mind and soul. I'm tired of the daily routine.
Rare and beautiful. Surely the fairies gathered to listen, and the spirits of great Harpers gone by were glad to know true music continues. Thank you, very much.
Beautiful! Takes me back somewhere I used to be that I have lost my way to.....
(Thank YOU, Mark, for making this solace possible!)
One of my favourite tunes
I miss your harp videos.
This is how these lovely Celtic tunes should be played. Simple and from the heart.
I love the way you use the high notes and the lower notes it helps paint the picture of the small fairies and the big fairies, it's wonderful, thanks.
Bluebells !!
Gorgeous! Touched my first ever wild bluebells today!
love it.... staysafe greeting from bali island
thanks for posting this, it is just lovely. It is content like this that brings me back to UA-cam...
Heavenly, Turlough O'Carolan would be delighted. Thank you
Oh that's cool. You are very tatented. I nearly feel asleep at my computer listening to this. The song's not boring, it's just so darn prety.
Bells tolling and matched in the harp.
A developing harmony ....
Amazing filming..
A superbly inspired arrangement.
I do not know much about harps, but that was lovely!! It gave my heart peace. I could listen to you all day long, and feel relaxed and happy. Thank you so very much for sharing your talent with us!! May you be as blessed as you have blessed us!!
Faithful Songbird Thank you! :-)
'Tis still inspiring and a treat once again. Jim

You play with passion and love...A real musician, very, very rare!
Thank you Mark!
Fantastic movie. Great arrangement. I love this tune
you sure did play the harp in those flurs!!!
you've not only played a beatiful tune, but also chosen the right place, that adds to the peaceful environment. i really love it.
This is lovely playing. I love the harp too. I have recorded some music with my son playing the harp . He is a professional player of the Irish harp and is based in Glasgow, Scotland where he teaches harp.
dear MarkHarmer
it is very beautiful the music and the field of lavender I think it is very inspiring .
I'm writing my Master's thesis on the connection between ancient Celtic and modern American bards. This is helping me because I haven't heard the real harp music before.
Thanks for this. Faultless.
27th January 2020 .... 75 years ago on this very day, Auschwitz was liberated. This exquisite music, from Ireland's beloved Turlough O'Carolan, speaks of all our sorrow, resonating outside all the confines of Time, for all the suffering souls of this beautiful planet !!!
I'm loving your music and the camera work.
Everything about this video is beautiful, the music, the gifted playing of the harp, the lovely harp itself, the setting in the woods, the perfect lighting, all combined creates a gorgeous magical experience. Thank you so much!
Beautiful Mark, just beautiful.
Bellisimo
My favourite version!
Beautifully played.
Absolutely wonderful!
congratulations..you are the best.. saludos desde veracruz mexico.
One of my students just presented this piece in his senior recital on guitar. It's fun to compare.
wow it's like your playing for the fairies
I wish I had enough money for a Beginners harp... I'm a 15 year old girl, who loves this music and wishes to play like this..
Possibly my favorite piece by O'Carolan. So peaceful. Thank you for sharing it and your wonderful talent.
Si Bheag Si Mhor - Truly, you have captured them... Thank you so very much!♥
Beautifully played on the instrument it was presumably written for. What a great composer O'Carolan was. You've done him proud!
Very nice and inspiring, looks so simple but mastering it is very difficult. hmmm... only if I could play like that one day
This was enchanting!
Absolutely brilliant
Wow.. beautiful
I have a Celtic Quest CD, it's like this music w/nature sounds (goes well together) and looking up each of these songs and seeing the different version they are played is amazing.
this one is just very very beautiful.
A lovely moment in the spring captured in music. Exquisite
Muy buena presentación!!! Muchas gracias!!!
That was an inspired idea, to use this beautiful background.
@Blacksquareable Thank you! I'm slowly working through my Carolan arrangements and aim to put them online to accompany my CD, which has 20 Carolan tunes including this one. Shameless plug I know, but a lot of work goes into these things!!
Mark, I get so much out of your playing. I absolutely loved your first video and this one followed suit so well. Beautiful scenery to go with your beautiful playing. Thank you for sharing this. It's made my night.
I love your postings....you are brave. I am a harper. It was my minor instrument in college. The blue belles remind me of our cottage on a little lake in Canada. My mother and I would love it when they would all bloom...this tune reminds me of it. Thank you!
So beautiful!
sir thank you for this beautiful piece. I can tell the spirits of the Tuatha and our ancestors flows through you.
Despite being a 'modern' man. The harp is by far my favorite instrument. Such a beautiful looking instrument with such a 'delicate' and breathtaking sound. Everytime I hear one played, it always sends a shiver down my spine, as if I were the strings myself. I agree with 2BiggerThanThat2, it is a dying instrument, but as long as there are people like you, the harp will continue to live on
Alright, I looked at this video to listen for the melody of the song, but was so mesmerized by the beauty of your playing, that I missed it. I applaud you and you talent.
Thank you
For those looking for music, there is a wonderful two volume work called O'Carolin: life and times of an Irish harper, by Donal O'Sullivan. The first volume is full of stories and information about the various people that Carolin named his pieces for, while the second volume is all of his extant music (as melody)...
Beautiful.
How gorgeous! Absolutely perfect!! Mo cheol thu :)
Beautifull!!!
Beautiful and I love the video, it makes me homesick to see those bluebells again.
Simply lovely! Best wishes, 'Small Days'
So Lovely!
@milune11 Thank you for your nice comments! The child is just a random child in the distance, somewhere down the road from the woods. The amazing thing is how sound carries in those places - the trees reflect sound all around but anything that is out of the ordinary will be easy to hear.
I imagine this would sound great on the guitar. I'd love to go along to that festival in Montreal, but difficult to justify travelling such a long way!
Thank you for this! You played a well-known song so beautifully. Best version of it so far.
This is really beautiful! Thanks for uploading! The harp was always my favourite instrument.
i love this song, i found it form a webcomic white noise, wncomic.com, and now i see why she chose to put this in what she had, it's a very soothing tune and the way you played it was beautiful.
Absolutely amazing! Some of the best harp playing I have ever seen or heard! Keep up the awesome work.
Mark I love your videos!! I hope someday I can make great videos of me and my harp like you! Keep it up and keep posting.
Both the music and the video are beautiful!
On my favorite list.
I first heard this performed by Simon Nichol and Dave Swarbrick of Fairport Convention. It was in a small pub in London .I was so moved. I have it on vinyl but it jumps!
The bluebells are blooming here today, and i'm looking for inspiration on this tune. thanks for posting this.
very soothing music ^^ incredible playing
Gorgeous!!!!

Beautiful! So filled with emotions and touches the soul.
Lovely visuals and music. Thank you so much, Mr. Harmer!
Just wanted to say again how much I like your rendition of this. It's so sprightly and sweet!
Beautiful Piece !
Attended a relatives funeral sometime back, and this one of the pieces the harpist played.
Thanks for sharing your talent
Wonderful. We love this tune too. Great rendition.
Wonderful job as always!
Very nice indeed.
I've always been a fan of Si Bheag Si Mhor (well Mr. O'Carolan in general) but this one of my two favorite O'Carolan tunes. I like your rendition better than the recording I have.
That was so beautiful. Thanks for making my day better. :)
absolutely amazing!!
Incredible, flowing, lovely, moving, original...what more can be said?
