    I`ve had mine now for the last 12 years, bought it used (it is a -95) in 2012 and can not find anything else to replace it with. Every winter I look around both used and new options but when spring comes and I start it up and ride away for the first time I always decide to keep it for one more season. It is nice to ride and easy to get along with. And mine has been absolutely bulletproof, no issues at all during the whole time. It is well maintained, and of course tires wear out and have to be replaced and such but no faults. Great bikes!

    Love the leather tank. I remember seeing those in the dealership. The Vulcan/Magna/Intruders were pretty cool back then. Now they look a little baroque.

      Yeah, I kind of like the tank cover too. I really hated the look of these in the 90’s but now I have a different feeling…at least they put their own spin on the cruiser look rather than just straight up copying HD.

      I love the way those bikes look. I have owned three Vulcan 750s, there is a reason for that. After wearing out two new ones, I bought a super low mileage '97 a couple years ago, and have put 9,000 miles on it so far. These bikes are absolutely gorgeous compared to the flat black TRASH that's out there now. They actually look like motorcycles. The '07 Vulcan 900 Custom in Candy Plasma Blue, silver, and chrome looked great. Then they went down the flat black road with it and completely ruined it.

    That engine configuration at 55° v angle leaves little room for carbs. Tight fit for sure! The last carbureted engine I worked on was a 2006 Hyosung GT250 as a 75° v twin it
    was easy. Used an ultrasonic cleaner & compressed air to remove the remnants of ethanol based gas to get it running right as rain. What a feeling it is when the fruits of ones labor pays off! 😁👍

    There's a tab on the top of the boot and a tab on the top of the manifold to line up the boots. The clamps have line markings that line up with marks on the boots.

    A friend of mine bought a 92 kawasaki Vulcan 750 in 92 and has had it ever since. He hasn't been able to ride for 10 years so it has been sitting there rotting. I have offered to buy it from him several times over the years but he has refused to sell it
    He most likely may never be physically able to ride again sue to health issues. I would love to be able to fix it up and let him see it running again but I doubt he will ever sell it.

  • @Gas_n_Gears

    Heh, same kit I just bought, I guess it's going in the freezer.
    That chrome fender is from a European VN 750. The size of the carb jets will tell you if those are European too.
    These carbs work nice but you have to keep them clean. I use Seafoam in the tank if it's going to be parked more than a couple of weeks. Non-ethanol gas will help. Not a fan of dry storage but with the siamesed float chamber, it's probably best to drain these carbs for long term storage, luckily the drains are easy. The gas will evaporate out of the right side carb in two days, and that leaves behind crud. Seafoam a couple of times a season can keep the jets clean.
    It's a really fun bike, quirky sometimes, but fun.
    There are alignment marks on the boots and you're supposed to leave one boot on the head, check the manual for which one. Best just to do the earshave and get rid of the airbox.

    • @TomsTinkeringandAdventures
      @TomsTinkeringandAdventures  Рік тому

      Good information. I doubt that the fender is from the European model though. It doesn’t have the correct mount holes, I am pretty certain the bike was wrecked and someone got a fender that was close to fitting.

    Interesting that this Vulcan 750 has Chrome fenders. Most of the Vulcans did not come with chrome fenders. I had a 2005 Vulcan 750 that had a chrome front fender.. I did some research on the Internet and some people claim that they were only optional on overseas Vulcan 750s.? I cannot confirm this but they are rare. Very cool!
    And I never saw a motorcycle gas tank that has been covered in vinyl fabric. ??

    • @TomsTinkeringandAdventures
      @TomsTinkeringandAdventures  Рік тому +1

      The front fender was weird, I figured out later that it was not the correct one. The front forks are twisted as well. The tank cover is leather, possibly an aftermarket option but it’s there because the tank is beat up. This bike was wrecked badly at some point.

I'm surprised that nobody offers these for sale, easy to make if you have a water jet or something like that.

    • @TomsTinkeringandAdventures

Last night it was popping with backfires and when I tries to accelerate it would bog down and then all of a sudden give me power and I'd go flying off when the full throttle suddenly returned. It stalled twice at a light while I tried taking off. Super weird... again I fix cars not bikes. This is all new to me. And I dont mess with car carbs because no one has em anymore haha.

    seems like all the old japanese bikes have the nightmare carb situation. i've always liked the looks of the vulcan 750, i think it has the look of the early hd lowrider. i've also seen where if the stator fails on the vulcan 750, you either have to pull the engine or cut the frame. ridiculous for changing a part that seems to eventually fail on every motorcycle.
