Very nice video Fancie. Very interesting to hear how the money transfer system works. We feel sorry for you. We could see how frustrated you were getting with the whole situation. We're glad you finally got things cleared up. We're also glad to see you got your medicine situation cleared up. We hope it's nothing serious.
Your HR should be able to tell you about the tax app. Now you are registered at the bureau, you can print out your own tax statement if you need it again. Quickest transfer time at the bank for me recently in Chengdu was 50 mins, longest 2 hours😂
@@funfancie You're welcome. Actually, you should take the same tax certificate every time you make a transfer. With me, the bank write and stamp it each time. They calculate how much money you can still transfer in that financial year according to your salary.
Hello Fancie, that is interesting how you must pay so much in fees! Yet, it is China and they want to make sure that you pay for sending so much money out of the country. The process is something and it does take time for you. I hope that the bank paid you some interest. While all your money was just seating in your account or accounts. That was great how the insurance company set up your appointment for you to see the doctor. I was worried at first that you got sick. But was glad that you explain the reason why you needed to see the doctor. I am glad you got your medication. I hope that you had a good week at work for yourself. Thank you for the video and for taking us along.😊
Thanks for unveiling something I never knew it before as a local, Fancie! I used to work in France and transferred money through HSBC bank to China. They need some code like IBN if I remember it correctly. But I do believe some way exist to mitigate USD between Thai and China.
Thanks for making this video. Nice to see that you are settling in SH very well. There is ICBC bank in Thailand right? If you have an account with them you can convert to and from RMB to the local currency without any need for USD.
most banks in China are state-owned banks, it is reasonable they don't speak English. There are bunch of multi-national banks in Shanghai, such as Citi, HSBC, etc, did you try? By the way, FYI., you won't like the summer days in Shanghai, humidity is very high and temperature is very high at 38-40 degree(it was not such high 30-40 years ago), and it will last at least 1month. You will also experience "huangmei" weather in late May or early of June, it is going to rain for days/weeks despite I don't see such long "huangmei" weather recent years in Shanghai.
Hi Wentao, thanks for the recommendation on multi-national banks. I will try to contact them soon. Due to the fact that my company tied the contract to open the bank account with CMB only so I tried it here first 😊 I can’t imagine how hot Shanghai can be in summer but I will experience it for the first time this year. I might review my feelings towards summer season in my future vlogs ☀️ have a great day Wentao!
Wow, I've never sent money out, but in 20 years, it's always been to China... it will be interesting to see what happens when the usd goes digital ~ this July . Stateside, I pay ~300 usd per month to maintain my health insurance, Medicare w/o medicine. In Guangxi at the regional or city hospital, I pay as serviced CTM or regular Chinese/western medical ... being American, they always send me to the director of the department. Which I don't mind cause it has allowed great friendships. Cost for my visit usually is ~12rmb. 2019 I spent 10 days in the city #1 to check myself from my toes to my head, inside and out for ~1400 usd, including medicine. A lot of medicine is otc and low cost and easy to buy at their drug stores. Have a great week.
Hi Fancie, I arrived to Shanghai from San Francisco and discovered my Visa doesn’t work here and was told it’s “backward” using credit cards😂. I don’t know if I am able to set up WeChat pay😬
Wechat pay will only work if you have the bank account in China. In the meantime I would suggest you to link your credit card with Alipay which works similarly to wechat pay 😊
Next time, just hang over stack of cash to mom when she's visiting you. LOL. BTW, it's a lot cheaper getting Thai Baht in Bangkog currency exchange than thru bank.
Why would anyone speak English in china, folks gotta try to speak Chinese. I remember when I was in the west people always tell you to speak English, so doesn't it go both ways.
It’s totally fine if people don’t speak English and that’s a good chance for me to improve my Chinese when living here 😊 I just would like to express my opinion about my perception of Shanghai that it’s one of the most westernized and international city so I had some expectations that most people here could speak English.

Great video 😀
Thank you Ben!
PayPal acquired 70 percent of Beijing-based Gopay, so now you can use paypal in China.
Thanks Tony for sharing!

That's totally the best idea!
I am also in China. You don't have to stress yourself with that long process. Reach me so that I guide you. Thanks
