Coal Chamber - industrial metal band that sounds just like the 50 billion other industrial bands of the late 90's and early 2000's. DevilDriver - one of the only original NWOAHM bands that's doing it's own thing.
also remember that these kids were young too... i thought 2 of them were under 18 (guitar and drummer?) but listen to a song called "BIG SHIP" by Brain Eno.... kicks ass over "BIG TRUCK"

What I find to be quite unique about CC's debut, is the fact that they created a gloomy atmosphere in a minimalist way. DevilDriver sounds like any other modern Groove or whatever Metal band to me, nothing I'd buy a record from. It's especially the videos, which scare me off, but nearly all metal videos look (and probably are) cheap nowadays. But I'd rather listen to DD then COB or In Flames, hehe...

Yeah, they sounded like every other new metal band out there, no real original image, no real outstanding guitar, bass or drum playing, their originality wasn't all that noticable. DevilDriver however, has a unique voice, their drumming is fast and intense and very controlled, yet chaotic, n'of course, Dez is throwin' down with a far more hearty scream with lyrics that make far more sense. But that's just my opinion. -Doc
@Seifter16 I should say, "Who Coal Chamber sounds like", also, DevilDriver's first album was samey bullshit, they dumped the guitarist and move some people around, and the rest of their albums have been on the edge of creating new genres every time. And this is just "genre typing" - lets not get into the musical side of things. DevilDriver plays around with everything from heavy-groove, almost jazz style rythyms and poly-mertic/polyrythmic timing to melodic speed sweeps and power-chords.
I'd pay alot of money to see these guys and Fear Factory in 96 in a tight space like that
