How to Sew a Mile a Minute

- In this video tutorial I show you how to sew a mile a minute. Great technique for sewing all of your fabric scraps randomly together to make a larger piece.
Great for beginners or advanced sewers. You'll learn how to relax a bit with your stitching as points and lining up seams don't matter!

I got into my leftovers and I have made 14 quilts from all my leftover .it is great making your own designs
Super cool! I do this all the time so I wont have to throw away my scraps. Lol great video 💙🐝💙
Really enjoyed watching this again as a reminder. The first time was last year and I made a lap quilt. Thank you again!
This is exactly what I was looking for! I missed it because I did a search for "crumb quilting". But the videos that I watched for crumb quilting, didn't really show what to do beyond sewing the first three pieces together on long strips. There wasn't much understanding about how to make it into a usable square. Thank you
Thank you so much. Cause I've received so of my sisters scrape bags. And now I can start on doll blankets for the dolls I've crochet for Christmas donations. God bless you for sharing.
You are so welcome!
This is awesome!! Going to be making a lot of quilts with my scraps . . . . 20+ years worth of scraps! Look out Christmas gifts!
Thank you for your beautiful work on those blocks. I just bought a large Ziploc bag of crumbs for $1 not really knowing what I was going to make with them. As a newbie quilter I really needed to see a tutorial such as yours and I'm grateful for your clear explanation of your process. 👍☺️
Great demonstration!!!
thank you! Hope you use it for your scraps
To use the scrap fabric and make something out of it is awesome. I love to use my scraps.
Thank you so much 😊 I loved it and enjoyed your tutorial. I will certainly be having a go at this idea 💡
Love this video. The visual really helps. Thank you!
Your scraps coordinate so beautifully! I’m afraid mine don’t so much. But I’m sure I could still make a quilt from each type! Great tutorial!
this is such a GREAT IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks for sharing
Wow...I love your work!my INSPIRATION...towards imperfections
What an awesome idea! It's like a quick & easy crazy quilt! I was just given a double hand-ful of various denim scraps yesterday. I have been trying to decide on a backing for a cushion for my 11 year old sewing student/protege', and this is going to work great! I'll use the denim scraps to make the back of the cushion, mile-a-minute. The front is going to be the trial stitch-out of a machine embroidered unicorn that we're going to put onto a top that we're going to make for her. She's a unicorn nut. So the plan is to do the practice stitch-out on a large square of her top fabric, so that it can be used as a cushion for her bedroom. I think this is going to be WAY cool for a mature pre-teen!! Thanks so much!!
Such a good idea! Thanks for sharing!!😀
I did this and loved it.
How funny! I've been playing with this idea for a while, wondering if you could do this. THANKS!!! Now I know. YEAAAA!
Wonderful, I am inspired!!
I love this idea!!
This is an excellent idea!
I LOVE THIS!!!
Love your idea!!!
Very frugal & creative!
Love this!
Love it! Thank you
Отличный вариант использования обрезков!!! Я тоже так делаю.
I love it thanks so much
That looks like fun.
Thanks for this video !!!!!
What I have been looking for!! You should look up the Solvi quilt video. Very good for even smaller scraps. Thanks again!
thanks for the suggestion!
brilliant!
Good ideal thank you for sharing.
you are welcome!
so I have this smallish basket that I throw scraps into as I sew....fast forward to sewing them up helter skelter style, so I got one full size top, two table runners, and a baby quilt size...and the basket is still pretty full, mostly they are what I call "chips" tiny and smallish pieces that can be used for another day, also two small trashcans full of snips and trims that could be used to stuff a pet bed or something. So my take on this whole scraps. Now not to say I don't have a respectable stash that I mine for a border and some backing...also I have a bigger bin for bigger scraps, !/4 yard and up, that use for pieced backs, and purse and pouch linings....If I keep going this way I am going to have to live a few hundred years to just break even. oh yeah I even have a scrap bin for batts, which I piece together for less than full size projects....whew ! and I am just starting....on to the jelly rolls, also I cut long strips 2" or more for bindings...
Thank you.
Very beautiful
Thanks a lot
Great video ! I couldnt help but notice the lights on the side of your machine. Are they a part of the machine, or did you add them yourself ?

Interesting, will have to give it a try. You are saying Selvage correct not salvage-which is recovering something like from under water.
...I guess we could say we are 'salvaging' scraps!
Não sei o que vc falou mais valeu gostei da sua ideia ok!!!!
This is also known as Crumb Quilting
Very clear thanks
Ami Simms has a crumbs quilt video from 5 years ago that gets mentioned alot.
Great idea for those blocks that are cut incorrectly or don't get used. I end up using them as starters 🙄
😍
What is that LIGHT 💡 on the outside of your sewing machine?! I love your scraps ideas.😊❤️
thank you for asking! It's really fabulous- www.patchworkposse.com/sewing-machine-led-lighting-kit/ is where you can find it.
Could i use a serger for this? One needle, three thread for more narrow seam
an almost crazy quilt
would a smaller item of this, work as a pot holder? and is this washable?
char myers Cotton fabric works best for coasters and mug rugs. Line with heat resistant batting for pot holders & oven mitts. Polyester blends & silk types can't handle heat well. Crumbs are fun. 💚💜💛

Here is the Solvi Quilt technique for the scrap slivers. Thought you might like. ua-cam.com/video/WHTWuqXtayc/v-deo.html
Is this the same as crumb quilting?
It is! Such a great method for using your scraps.
It looks like your crumbs were color coordinated.
They are the leftovers from a previous project - so sometimes they do actually go together!
I have been throwing all those away for 30 years.
Ouch!
