So glad I started collecting n64 in 2010 and went hard for a full set. Still not there but I got so many games For $10 or less. Also lucked out and got sculptors cut for $150
A friend and I have been replaying the perfect dark cooperative campaign, it has been soooo fun. For this one game the controls, graphics, and story still hold up today and it's great to sit next to a buddy instead of online.
My favorite game is Rush 2. It’s not the racing aspect. It’s the practice aspect on the stunt course that has many jumps, a mountainous area, and a second level. Over 700 seconds per practice. I can play that game for hours just jumping anything and everything. Many memories as a kid playing that course waiting for dinner or on the weekends by myself.
It’s 1996 , it’s Friday … my friend called to have a sleep over and we have 3 other guys joining us . The line up is goldeneye , madden 64 , Mario kart , KI gold and Bret farve QB club … we stay up until 4 am and are running on fumes the next day (Saturday ) when doing the household chores .. I flip through my game pros and hop on my psx that night for some fun , miss those days

Man, the game renting thing just triggered a whole bunch of nostalgia. I remember spending time at my grandma's house as a young kid. We'd walk like 45 minutes into town and she'd rent me games and whatnot. I specifically recall playing Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles on my Genesis at her place. Later on, my mom would take us to the local Blockbuster a little ways down the street (also helped that it was not only like a minute away from the swimming lessons I had but also in the same lot as one of our local large grocery stores). Used to get PS1 games to rent there all the time during the summer.

In 1996 it was an amazing achievement in gaming with a lot of great memories. Today, it's just another console which hasn't aged well and has 50% of it's greatest titles on one Xbox disc - Rare Replay.
Agree. Probably lived through the greatest age of gaming with 90’s … consoles today or the excitement around them just isn’t there … although the series s / x got me excited for a bit . I get more into retro gaming and showing the younger gen what great gaming is
I always regretted selling my n64 collection as a kid but now looking back as a 30 year old it’s a little less painful. Banjo was definitely my go to on the system. Great video as always, Cheers!
Of all the consoles we have in the game room I'd say we could most easily live without the N64. It's nice to have around for a few games but we don't play it a ton. Cheers!
N64 I feel still mostly holds up. No so much in the visuals, but the gameplay in many games and the simplicity of couch co-op/multiplayer, it was the OG party console. Only had about 300 games. Loaded with fun racers, wrestling, party games, and platformers where polygon based gaming was still in its infancy. 2 Zelda games! FPS were single stick usually with the yellow buttons for strafing, now console FPS are dula stick, but back then they were still figuring that out.

I was curious if the copy you guys own of WWF No Mercy is a glitch copy. I had been waiting for the game to come out and ran to get it first day it came out and played through it and lost all of my information twice, then came to find out that it had the save glitch. Unfortunately, I did not know that they offered to replace the glitched copies with patched ones if you mailed it back. So, I have an original CIB glitched copy and am searching for a patched one. Keep up the good content guys!
Fun was had back in the day but now it’s library is rough to go back to. Still some goods, but not enough reason to collect for since I didn’t grow up with it. Still made millions of kids happy so that’ll always be awesome!
Great video Guys. Like you guys said they’re aren’t a ton of great game for the N64. But if I’m being honest some of the funnest times I ever had was playing the wrestling games, goldeneye, Mari kart, perfect dark, with my friends on that console. It don’t do a lot of things great, but what it did for couch co-op and vs play will never be forgotten.

The OG NFL Blitz gave me hope that a sports game could be more than recycled garbage. I also really need to get ahold of Blast Corps, I've heard great things.
We are huge "Arcade Sports" fans. So many unique titles that everyone can play and feel like they have a chance. We just played some World Series '99 this weekend at a barcade. Has a bat type of deal you have to flip to hit. It was so fun. Cheers!
Yeah, N64 came out when I was like 12. I was blown away by Mario 64 like so many people were back in the day… but the system just does not hold up now a days.
The thing about N64 is that it really was a great system with great games. It just hasn't aged well...at...all. Anyway (not going to count Mario 64 because I've only played ports). Zelda Ocarina of Time: Graphics give me a headache now. 3DS with it's updated graphics is still a fun game to play. But on the N64, graphics just kill me. Zelda Ocarina of Time (Japanese cartridge): Can't even play it without modding the N64, but it's fun to own. Majora's Mask: Looks better than OoT, but damn that 3 day cycle to hell. Still love the mask mechanic Beast Wars Transmetals: Crap fighting game I bought cheap at a Blockbuster Video clearance sale. Awful graphics, gameplay...everything. Only got it because I'm a huge Transformers fan. Star Fox 64: This still holds up. The graphics are still pretty decent. The controls are still good. If only they could get rid of Skippy, it'd be perfect. Golden Eye: I just can't even. I have so many dorm room memories with this, but going back to it, I can't aim. I can't strafe. I just can't play it. Perfect Dark: It's a bit better with it's auto-lock-on. Still not one I can really go back to. Donkey Kong 64: Oh dear heavens, that camera. I just can't even. It might be playable. But geeze, that camera! Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire: Hoth level, fun. Every other level...trash! Smash Bros: I keep wanting to play it like the newer games and it just doesn't work. I can go back to it better than other games, but seriously hasn't aged well. Mortal Kombat Trilogy: Best Midway Mortal Kombat bar none. 2-D sprites really help this. Just goes to show that if N64 stayed away from polygons, graphics could still be good. WCW/NWO Revenge: The game that lets me know that I will never be good at wrestling games. Love the roster, but I truly suck at wrestling games. Killer Instinct Gold: If I could just relearn the combo system, this actually does look good. The graphics are still really good even for today, if a bit stylized. But due, trying to relearn the combo system! x_x
This was great. Started your video this morning. Stopped early because I had work. Restarted from the beginning tonight and poured myself a nice IPA and enjoyed. Haha. I will say, I have gotten to love the N64 more over time surprisingly enough. I enjoy quite a bit of titles and even the controller/Rumble pak and all the crazy accessories. To me, the biggest issue with the console is the video quality. Nintendo not having RGB built in and having all the blurry Anti Aliasing garbage really screwed how this system aged. Your best bet is S Video on a CRT which is sort of a tough connection to find these days. I had the Purple Gamecube Monster S Video cable for mine and it looked pretty nice but I just got tired of that connection and mailed my system to Lord Voultar back in May. I am waiting for his Rgb Mod and a region free tray mod. I originally thought, no big deal. It won’t be missed but absence had made the heart grow fonder with me. I am so ready to get that thing back and plug it in through Hd Retrovision component cables on the Crt and play that way. The new HD/RGB mod looks pretty sweet as well so you have options but I had already sent mine off when I discovered that. I recently found this cool steel/metal N64 controller stick and bowl setup for the stick issues. I jumped on the waiting list for that. Hopefully someday can get my original two controllers replaced with those. I put in Gamecube sticks and while they get the job done, they are too sensitive and don’t feel right like my other two controllers that I don’t use as much that still have their original sticks.
Great video guys we pretty much feel the same about the n64 these days so its nice to find new reasons to go play the nostalgic console so I'll send a few recommendations your way to repay the favor. I recommend you guys get ROADRASH 64, Robotron 64 and DOOM 64 they all hold up good in 2021 for me. Keep on having a good time guys 👍
Pilotwings you got to get! Mortal Kombat Trilogy 3 vs 3 Kombat is my go to 2p game. Even above Mario Kart 64. You guys have to try it out if you liked the SNES Mortal Kombats.
I think Mario Party 1 is the only one that you can rotate the stick in mii games because they had to stop because they got lawsuits over it (From what I remember hearing somewhere).
Racing games are about the only N64 games that still hold up (luckily there were a lot of them): Crius'n Trilogy, Beetle Adventure Racing, Waverace, Diddy Kong Racing, Mickeys Speedway, Mario Kart, Star Wars Ep 1 Racer, F-Zero, etc. Main reason for this was the higher framerate utilized by racing games by necessity. They still feel smooth today. Sure there are a couple non-racing games that are still fun (usually the classics: Starfox, Banjo, Mario64) but most just play very badly today. For some reason many 32 bit PS1 games look and play better than N64.
Since I've gotten into retro gaming the N64 is my favorite. It should be the SNES but really the feeling of novelty and newness is palpable even today. I was barely born when this console came out but I love it.

Turok is one of those games I played the hell out of when it was released but now, if I could go back, I would tell that kid to put in another game. I actually felt it stole time from me. I have deep, deep hatred for Turok (and I never hate video games… Turok is special that way).

Super Mario 64 was Very Revoluntionary when it came to 3d Games In General and it partically created the Collectathon Genre although i respect others opinion but im gonna have to Disagree because this game is very dear to my heart on how much nostalgia i get and being blown away by it back in 1997 as a kid but overall great collection

Star digging into he Japanese only releases that you can play without reading. They had so many cool titles like Last Legion UX and BangaiO that we never got. The star wars and wrestling games were life though, golden age for both
Sin and Punishment was a great Japanese only release. I finally played it when it was on Wii Virtual Console. I enjoyed it sooooo much I jumped on the Wii Star Sucessor sequel which was also a lot of fun and highly underrated.

I love Mario 64 it's my favorite game of all time. However I actually think it's cool to see some people don't like it, because that's actually a rare thing. I think it's an amazing game but it makes me appreciate your different tastes than me. Idk y I like that. Maybe it's just the honesty idk but I actually kinda liked that for whatever reason lol.

N64 is GOATed system. Check out snowboard kids 1 and 2 as well as xtreme G 1 and 2. Epic racing games with a huge learning curve and hidden gems. Also a few mistakes in the video.. Mario kart 64 had the most rubber banding in a Mario kart and mario party 3 didn't have the joystick wear. That was the first one. After that fiasco, the 2 and 3 had no rotating joystick gimmick
I wasnt a big fan of Mario Party 3 and thankfully i never broke my joystick playing that game and Mario Party 2 is Hands Down the Best Mario Party Ever Made

"Mario 64 is whack!" Retro diss for retro games lol. I only got a 64 this year and I've gotten about 20 games, only cause I got them really cheap when I imported some games I actually wanted. There are a couple Japanese exclusives I really want: Sin and Punishment and Bangai-o (which also came out on the Dreamcast) To sum up my thoughts - the N64 isn't great, but it's aight.
N64 has quite a few good ones. Many of them hold up a lot better when emulated with a modern gamepad and overclock settings enabled tho. N64 suffered from its awkward controller and poor performance, especially in most non-racing games, but much of that can be alleviated by running these games on a fast PC. I can only recommend N64 today on PC. The actual console barely holds up. My N64 is sitting broken in my closet and needs to be thrown out.
The funny thing about the Nintendo Gamecube is that its actually What everything the Nintendo 64 shouldve been everything from the gamecubes amazing controller and The Mini Disc wouldve been perfect for an N64 Cd Disc Drive In My opinion and the gamecube controller would be perfect for the N64 3d games
Thank you I agree with you guys in the Star Wars stand point 7-9 we’re not worth a watch unless your a completionist. I’ve grown to appreciate 1-3 now and we all know 4-6 were the best. You can ignore the Han Solo movie, rogue squadron was ok… and mandelorian is great.. granted I’m a tough critic I mostly only watch older movies pre CGI I can appreciate the art design more so than computer images
The N64 games are hit or miss. There wasn’t really bad games but ok games. The controller is the same. Gamecube fixed that then the wii kinda fixed what the gamecube was missing.
Banjo was way better period! Totally agree. I know that you don't like DK64 but it's much more fun than M64. I preferred both Rush games on N64 over Rush 2049 on Dreamcast. It looked and ran better but everything else sucked.

According to the number on our cart is could be a glitch copy but it hasn't happened and I've had the game since it came out.

Beast Wars Transmetals: Crap fighting game I bought cheap at a Blockbuster Video clearance sale. Awful graphics, gameplay...everything. Only got it because I'm a huge Transformers fan.
Star Fox 64: This still holds up. The graphics are still pretty decent. The controls are still good. If only they could get rid of Skippy, it'd be perfect.
Golden Eye: I just can't even. I have so many dorm room memories with this, but going back to it, I can't aim. I can't strafe. I just can't play it.
Perfect Dark: It's a bit better with it's auto-lock-on. Still not one I can really go back to.
Donkey Kong 64: Oh dear heavens, that camera. I just can't even. It might be playable. But geeze, that camera!
Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire: Hoth level, fun. Every other level...trash!
Smash Bros: I keep wanting to play it like the newer games and it just doesn't work. I can go back to it better than other games, but seriously hasn't aged well.
Mortal Kombat Trilogy: Best Midway Mortal Kombat bar none. 2-D sprites really help this. Just goes to show that if N64 stayed away from polygons, graphics could still be good.
WCW/NWO Revenge: The game that lets me know that I will never be good at wrestling games. Love the roster, but I truly suck at wrestling games.
Killer Instinct Gold: If I could just relearn the combo system, this actually does look good. The graphics are still really good even for today, if a bit stylized. But due, trying to relearn the combo system! x_x
i never seen those boxes before for n64 they are mostly wide and stuff. I loved the wrestling games on n64, revenge and no mercy.

This was great. Started your video this morning. Stopped early because I had work. Restarted from the beginning tonight and poured myself a nice IPA and enjoyed. Haha. I will say, I have gotten to love the N64 more over time surprisingly enough. I enjoy quite a bit of titles and even the controller/Rumble pak and all the crazy accessories. To me, the biggest issue with the console is the video quality. Nintendo not having RGB built in and having all the blurry Anti Aliasing garbage really screwed how this system aged. Your best bet is S Video on a CRT which is sort of a tough connection to find these days. I had the Purple Gamecube Monster S Video cable for mine and it looked pretty nice but I just got tired of that connection and mailed my system to Lord Voultar back in May. I am waiting for his Rgb Mod and a region free tray mod. I originally thought, no big deal. It won’t be missed but absence had made the heart grow fonder with me. I am so ready to get that thing back and plug it in through Hd Retrovision component cables on the Crt and play that way. The new HD/RGB mod looks pretty sweet as well so you have options but I had already sent mine off when I discovered that. I recently found this cool steel/metal N64 controller stick and bowl setup for the stick issues. I jumped on the waiting list for that. Hopefully someday can get my original two controllers replaced with those. I put in Gamecube sticks and while they get the job done, they are too sensitive and don’t feel right like my other two controllers that I don’t use as much that still have their original sticks.

Great video guys we pretty much feel the same about the n64 these days so its nice to find new reasons to go play the nostalgic console so I'll send a few recommendations your way to repay the favor. I recommend you guys get ROADRASH 64, Robotron 64 and DOOM 64 they all hold up good in 2021 for me. Keep on having a good time guys 👍

I think Mario Party 1 is the only one that you can rotate the stick in mii games because they had to stop because they got lawsuits over it (From what I remember hearing somewhere).
I have around 100 N64 games, but there are like only around 300 US releases.

Racing games are about the only N64 games that still hold up (luckily there were a lot of them): Crius'n Trilogy, Beetle Adventure Racing, Waverace, Diddy Kong Racing, Mickeys Speedway, Mario Kart, Star Wars Ep 1 Racer, F-Zero, etc. Main reason for this was the higher framerate utilized by racing games by necessity. They still feel smooth today. Sure there are a couple non-racing games that are still fun (usually the classics: Starfox, Banjo, Mario64) but most just play very badly today. For some reason many 32 bit PS1 games look and play better than N64.
It does have some great racers for sure. I really need to get the Crusin games again at some point. Cheers!
Beetle and Wave Race are anything but smooth. Only emulation can solve that for Beetle, but sadly Wave Race is capped at a really low frame rate.
Since I've gotten into retro gaming the N64 is my favorite. It should be the SNES but really the feeling of novelty and newness is palpable even today. I was barely born when this console came out but I love it.

Turok is one of those games I played the hell out of when it was released but now, if I could go back, I would tell that kid to put in another game. I actually felt it stole time from me. I have deep, deep hatred for Turok (and I never hate video games… Turok is special that way).

Super Mario 64 was Very Revoluntionary when it came to 3d Games In General and it partically created the Collectathon Genre although i respect others opinion but im gonna have to Disagree because this game is very dear to my heart on how much nostalgia i get and being blown away by it back in 1997 as a kid but overall great collection

Star digging into he Japanese only releases that you can play without reading. They had so many cool titles like Last Legion UX and BangaiO that we never got. The star wars and wrestling games were life though, golden age for both
Sin and Punishment was a great Japanese only release. I finally played it when it was on Wii Virtual Console. I enjoyed it sooooo much I jumped on the Wii Star Sucessor sequel which was also a lot of fun and highly underrated.

The Japanese Port of Bomberman 64 is great too! They did a 2D top down version on their side of the pond.

My collection is pretty sparse. Loved the N64 when I it was new, but hard to go back to. My wife went back to play Majoras Mask and it was tough to get back into the controllers

I love Mario 64 it's my favorite game of all time. However I actually think it's cool to see some people don't like it, because that's actually a rare thing. I think it's an amazing game but it makes me appreciate your different tastes than me. Idk y I like that. Maybe it's just the honesty idk but I actually kinda liked that for whatever reason lol.

I envy the fact you guys haven't seen the new Star Wars trilogy. It's hot garbage, don't ever subject yourselves to that which shits on everything that came before it.
You guys should snag a copy of Harvest Moon 64. Such a simple, but addictive game.
N64 is GOATed system. Check out snowboard kids 1 and 2 as well as xtreme G 1 and 2. Epic racing games with a huge learning curve and hidden gems. Also a few mistakes in the video.. Mario kart 64 had the most rubber banding in a Mario kart and mario party 3 didn't have the joystick wear. That was the first one. After that fiasco, the 2 and 3 had no rotating joystick gimmick
I wasnt a big fan of Mario Party 3 and thankfully i never broke my joystick playing that game and Mario Party 2 is Hands Down the Best Mario Party Ever Made

"Mario 64 is whack!" Retro diss for retro games lol. I only got a 64 this year and I've gotten about 20 games, only cause I got them really cheap when I imported some games I actually wanted. There are a couple Japanese exclusives I really want: Sin and Punishment and Bangai-o (which also came out on the Dreamcast) To sum up my thoughts - the N64 isn't great, but it's aight.
N64 has quite a few good ones. Many of them hold up a lot better when emulated with a modern gamepad and overclock settings enabled tho. N64 suffered from its awkward controller and poor performance, especially in most non-racing games, but much of that can be alleviated by running these games on a fast PC. I can only recommend N64 today on PC. The actual console barely holds up. My N64 is sitting broken in my closet and needs to be thrown out.
I love Diddy Kong Racing. It’s better than Mario Kart 64 and didn’t get the attention it deserved.

The funny thing about the Nintendo Gamecube is that its actually What everything the Nintendo 64 shouldve been everything from the gamecubes amazing controller and The Mini Disc wouldve been perfect for an N64 Cd Disc Drive In My opinion and the gamecube controller would be perfect for the N64 3d games

Thank you I agree with you guys in the Star Wars stand point 7-9 we’re not worth a watch unless your a completionist. I’ve grown to appreciate 1-3 now and we all know 4-6 were the best. You can ignore the Han Solo movie, rogue squadron was ok… and mandelorian is great.. granted I’m a tough critic I mostly only watch older movies pre CGI I can appreciate the art design more so than computer images

The N64 games are hit or miss. There wasn’t really bad games but ok games. The controller is the same. Gamecube fixed that then the wii kinda fixed what the gamecube was missing.
Banjo was way better period! Totally agree. I know that you don't like DK64 but it's much more fun than M64. I preferred both Rush games on N64 over Rush 2049 on Dreamcast. It looked and ran better but everything else sucked.
