Have you heard of a gentle feast? I'd love to know what you think about what I shared in this video. And I'd also love to know what core curriculums you are using this year! 👇👇👇
I saw the world history on there sort of. I don’t really understand how that works. Did you also do world history with the American history? Or are just the plans in there and you have to buy something separate for world history?
You are welcome - thank you for watching! I will do an update video soon, but we are LOVING everything about a gentle feast except for their language arts packet. It's just not working well for where my 3 kids are currently.
I’m so excited to see your journey! We are starting the playful pioneers this year and then I was interested in the gentle feast for the following year when I will have a third and second grader as well! I am the same way, I am wanting more of a Charlotte Mason inspired homeschool but ambleside was too intimidating! So excited to tag along!
Oh how fun! We loved the playful pioneers last year and I think that's what gave me the courage to jump into a full blown charlotte mason approach. I am so excited to share more as we get into our rhythm with a gentle feast!
I love this video! I will have a Kinder & 1st grader in the fall 2022. I know what you mean about using TGATB 1x1 time with each student taking joy out of it. When they are in 1st & 2nd I would LOVE to switch to gentle feast. My boys are best pals and would love to be in class together 🥰
Thank you so much. Yes it's definitely more bookwork than I prefer. I really debated on bring back TGATB for LA this year(because they completely re-did the curriculum for certain levels), but I just can't bring myself to do it. I much prefer the charlotte mason approach. It's much less busy work and leaves way more time for other fun learning opportunities each day.
Awesome!!! So fun to know someone who is doing the same curriculum! Yes i'll make sure to update lots and give lots of peaks inside of our day-to-day once we get into a rhythm!
I prefer a gentle feast, honestly. But if you love more hands on projects then I would go for playful pioneers. We do enough hands on stuff with our farm and gardening that adding more is just too much for me. I would say those are the main differences between the two, I hope that helps you!!
Love this! I'm starting Playful Pioneers in September with my 1st grader and my Pre-K guy will tag along. I've been eyeing A Gentle Feast for the 2022 school year--I love that you study American History every year and add in the World History in the upper forms. Do you think the cycle 2 picks up where Playful Pioneers left off? I'm also curious what your thoughts are on the Language Arts packet. We've been using The Good & The Beautiful thus far, but I'm considering utilizing A Gentle Feast's Language Arts instead for next year. So I'd love to hear your thoughts after you've been using it for a bit.
Great questions. We loved the playful pioneers! Yes I would say that cycle 2 picks up where we left off pretty well - i'm sure we will cover a few things again, but that's not a big deal to me. I really love the LA packet for my two 1/2nd graders, but it's WAY too easy for my 3rd grader. So I am adapting it for her. And I will definitely give an update after we have been using it for a while!
Vintage Plans, how are you liking playful pioneers? I'm torn between the two but my oldest turns 6 at the end of sept. So he will be a young 6 and I'm worried AGF will be too much for the first year and wondering if playful pioneers would be a better fit? 🤔
@@sarahhenderson4986 We actually dropped it after the first couple weeks. 🙈 When we started the program my oldest was a few months of shy of 6 and my younger two were 4 and nearly 2. My 2 year old doesn't nap any more and so she's a part of our school day. I like the program and am considering trying it again this fall when they're a little older. I feel like the read alouds were just slightly above my kids' interest level and listening ability.
I’m quite familiar with Simply Charlotte Mason, and just barely starting to research a Gentle Feast. From your description, they sound nearly identical to me! (Other than the 4 vs. 6 year history cycle.) Any ideas what the key differences might be? Thanks for a well laid out presentation!
I love the look of this curriculum. My child will turn 6 at the end of September. Do you feel like it would be too much for a young 6 yr old? Thanks for the video.
I think it would be wonderful for a 6 year old! Or if you want one very similar with more hands on projects, check out playful pioneers! I believe I have a video on that curriculum as well!
Yes, they only have 1 language arts packet per form. So my daughter is doing the same as my boys which is super easy for her. So I am just adjusting it for her - choosing harder spelling words, expecting more perfect copy work, longer narrations and longer composition(instead of a sentence, she will fill the page or write an entire paragraph).

Do you think this would fit a kindergartner and third grader or should we wait until they're in first and fourth?
I would love to know how this has been going for you!! Thanks for sharing!

Love it!! We are going to use A Gentle Feast for 2022! We already purchased Cycle 1😅 so excited to watch your reviews/updates over the year.
For this year we are using "A Year of Tales" as our core for my current Kindergarten and toddler:)

I first heard of this from Ashley from Joyful Noise Mama, and it definitely sounds like a very interesting curriculum!
Oh neat! I'll have to check her out! We are two weeks in and LOVING it!
Did you prefer this or the playful pioneers more?? I am SO torn between the two for my up coming 1st grader!

Can you share an amazon link to the black menu covers you use for morning time?
Hey, i actually got those from the gentle feast website - sorry I don't have a link for them on amazon
We are using A Gentle Feast in Cycle 2 this year also!
Oh that's amazing!! We are two weeks in and loving it! are you in the AGF facebook group? Maybe we can connect over there!
@@raisingnobleshomeschool7533 I'm not on Facebook much even tho I am in the Gentle Feast group but I think we follow each other on Instagram!

Hey! I am actually not super familiar with simply Charlotte Mason, sorry I couldn’t be of more help!

I’m curious about the LA. Are your twins and your daughter doing the same level? Or do they offer leveled LA for each cycle?
Yes, they only have 1 language arts packet per form. So my daughter is doing the same as my boys which is super easy for her. So I am just adjusting it for her - choosing harder spelling words, expecting more perfect copy work, longer narrations and longer composition(instead of a sentence, she will fill the page or write an entire paragraph).
What math are you using...
I'll be sharing that in an upcoming video but we are using teaching textbooks and abeka this year
