    What would it look like trying to use this curriculum 4 days/week?
    If I have two students in form 2, and one in form 3, do we all read the form 2 books + add the form 3 for my older child? Or are they reading totally separate books each day? I’d really like to be all together as much as possible. Thanks for a great review!

    • @ThisDevotedLife
      @ThisDevotedLife  5 місяців тому

      I personally love doing a 4 day week, but in form 2 and form 3, the length of readings definitely take more time. You might be pressed to fit everything into 4 days a week, but you could eliminate some things if you prefer. I went to a 5 day week this year with some weeks being only 4 days if we had appointments and such. As far as combining, your form 2 students would be reading the same books together. You could have your form 3 join in some of those books. I probably wouldn't have my form 2 jump to form 3 books though. Try to combine as much as you can for ease ❤️

    The morning binder -- is there one for each year? Dos it get repetitive at all?

    • @ThisDevotedLife
      @ThisDevotedLife  7 місяців тому

      There is one for each year, but every 4 years when your child gets back to it, they are doing different books because they are in new forms. There is an option 2 you can use for alternative composer and artist studies.

    Hi there! I just had my first babe, so I'm not ready to homeschool yet but im trying to expand my knowledge so I'm prepared when it is time! My question is: it's my understanding that Simply Charlotte Mason history curriculum includes Bible history within it (ie. When the children are learning about Egypt, they are also reading through Exodus). Is Biblical history also interwoven into the Gentle Feast history curriculum?

    • @ThisDevotedLife
      @ThisDevotedLife  Рік тому

      Great question! I do not have personal experience with Simply Charlotte Mason history, but AGF in form 1 does not intentionally incorporate Bible history with the time period being studied because you don't study any ancient history until form 2. I have found it isn't necessary to be honest. Our Bible Readings organically work their way into what we are learning because God's word is living ❤️ SCM does sound neat that it intentionally incorporates it though!

    Hi there! Thanks for this video, so helpful! Are the plans that are included in the online base curriculum (for instance, foreign language), something that is free? Or is it plans for a curriculum we would need to purchase separately? And the other resources, like for drawing or handicrafts, are those links to resources that will require a separate purchase? Thanks for your help!

    • @ThisDevotedLife
      @ThisDevotedLife  7 місяців тому +1

      Hi! All great questions! Other than math, language arts and your books, most everything is included in the membership. There are foreign language plans, though I do personally use a different program for Spanish. There are things you can add on, but that are not necessary. I really love the artist/art lessons that coincide with the picture studies for the week. That is an additional cost. Handicrafts have links to different resources... Some free options, some paid. Hope that helps!!

    To clarify, did you say science doesn't start until Form 2? And that there aren't questions provided for exams? What about book discussion?

    • @ThisDevotedLife
      @ThisDevotedLife  Рік тому

      Correct... In form 1, the students are reading nature lore (which is their science). It's stories about nature which give children familiarity and a relationship with nature. They are also encouraged to be outside. There are weekly nature prompts as well for studying/observing nature.
      In form 2, they will start a more 'traditional' science and biographies of scientists.

    How can I get a booklist? I checked out the website but didn't see where I could purchase one. I have K, 5th, 6th, 9th, and 10th, and I'm worried after leaving AO that I can't teach this various age group with AGF! Thoughts?

    • @ThisDevotedLife
      @ThisDevotedLife  Рік тому +2

      Being able to teach so many different forms is actually what drew me to AGF! Because everyone is studying the same history cycle, you can combine readings and morning time lessons 🥰 The book lists are under 'All Products.' If you scroll down on this link to the heading 'By Cycle' and click each individual cycle, you will find the book lists listed under each cycle. They are only $5 🥰

    Thank you for this video. I’m considering moving more CM. How do you access high school level in terms of grades and transcripts? Any thoughts on those? Are there options for quizzes or tests?

    • @ThisDevotedLife
      @ThisDevotedLife  Рік тому +1

      You are welcome!! 🥰 Charlotte Mason is an all-encompassing curriculum, so you will get everything you need for high school. As you move into high school years, you will need to be more intentional with checking to see what is required for high school graduation and do those classes. As a homeschooler, you create the high school transcript. Provided you are teaching the subjects, you can add what you need to the transcript for your child. I do not have older children yet, but I know older homeschool moms that have walked this road successfully ❤️ I'm sure if you Google 'creating a high school transcript for homeschoolers,' you will find a plethora of help on this topic 🙌🏻

    What are your thoughts for a 9 year old boy who doesn't particularly care to do schoolwork 😜 in relation to this curriculum

    • @ThisDevotedLife
      @ThisDevotedLife  Рік тому +2

      I have a 10 year old boy... So I understand 🤣 Charlotte Mason advocated for short lessons that were varied and made a child think. Looking at the child as a 'whole person,' she never wanted to make a child feel like he was only doing 'busy work.' I really believe a CM education is perfect for those kids who 'don't like' school. Will there be subjects they gravitate to more than others? Yes. But I do love how intentional and varied CM is! If you jump into a CM education, it will take time to adjust to, but I personally believe it's worth it 🥰

    This was very helpful, thank you! But just to clarify, the base curriculum just includes weekly schedules for each form (separately) and access to the member page with its resources. But that teachers manual looks pretty thick… does that also contain additional information not included in the member resource page? I understand that it contains all the forms at a glance (which is helpful) but is all the other information to make up the bulk of the manual completely additional to what I’ll already have access to just by purchasing the cycle? Thank you!

    • @ThisDevotedLife
      @ThisDevotedLife  Рік тому +2

      Almost everything in the manual is available online, though not in the same format. Online you will have a spreadsheet for each form with the weekly reading assignments. A full year is 36 weeks with 4 pages dedicated to each week, so that's why the manual is so thick. Plus, the booklist is included in the manual and a recipe or something that corresponds with that term. Hope that helps!

    Do you know if the true history is in those books or is it still just the indoctrination history that's taught in the schools?

    • @ThisDevotedLife
      @ThisDevotedLife  Рік тому +2

      Hi! So nice to meet a new homeschooler! ❤️ I do believe that AGF has done a good job in balancing its history reads. POC are represented in many of the books, as well as not glossing over hard topics within history (though I believe these topics are kept age appropriate and are gradually incorporated as a student gets older). You can always add in more books if you want to as well. Heritage Mom Blog is a great resource for history books related to a Charlotte Mason Education.
