Iron man, depending on your starting point takes at least 1 - 2 years of incredibly consistent training, nutrition and cost. My wife and I started with a sprint in 2013; took us 2 years to do our first 70.3 and the following year we did our first full distance, she had to take swim lessons just to do her first sprint. We had to also buy road bikes . She has now completed 12 full distance races and Last year she raced Kona at 56. It all depends on your level of commitment
