Mud Truck Madness hosted one of the largest Bounty Hole payouts in recent memory...a huge $10,000! Drivers from great distances took notice of this event and brought trucks out of retirement and upgraded their rigs to try and conquer the 525ft long pit.
No skimming the pit was allowed, so you had to bog it. Heat was the enemy of most rigs that had the traction and horsepower to pull it.
Congratulations to the guys who put on a show and pulled the pit.
Randy Palmer successfully took home the W with a time of 5 minutes flat in his Sycotic Fabrication Polaris Ranger.

My pals did a version of this once-6 new stock 4WD trucks and SUV's. After getting stuck and pulling each other out of thick, stinky mud all day, I had an idea after staring at the mud, over several more beers. Just hit the bog going 65 mph or faster. Hydroplaning did the trick, those who tried made it. Just gotta keep 'er straight.

@@jasone4460 Some time ago I saw a tractor on the beach, like 10ft high, no diffs. All chain drive. I think they used that contraption to unstuck small boats on low tide or something, I don't know. All I know is that thing could go through all that mud and back, no problem. Kinda like the front axle on this thing ( imgur.com/a/ZG7q1Sw ) but on all 4 wheels, and a chain drive system. Or you can just use a SHERP and call it a day.

What the point of having such a high lift kit when your axels and differentials are 12 inches of the ground. I've never understood why people do that to nice trucks and drive around town all day. You still have no clearance. I understand doing it to drive through 4 feet of water. But for regular off roading one rock will stop you

Same for those cars that are 0.1” off the ground it doesn’t help any performance that low it’s just for the look I suppose

The front and rear axles of the power unit should be arched, not straight,
so that the axles do not touch the mud and the car does not fall into the mud and drive forward.

Very creative idea on the Polaris, but not a good idea to shut off an extremeley hot engine, gotta let it idle to cool down.

Some of them, like the Jeep seems could have done better idling and the truck take to float.. at least running by these bog rules..... I think the next Jeep, the purple one thought soo too

    • @shackman9566
      @shackman9566 5 років тому

Low rpm torque at the wheel and light weight balanced out so you get the lowest time. A properly engineered go cart or lawn tractor with balloon paddle tires could have pretty much floated through at a much higher speed. The folks that set up this event probably knew that. But it's interesting to see just what competition would bring.

  • @paul1349

My opinion I think the tire thread should be the other way around cuz you're cutting into the third you should be paddling your weight out of the dirt

It's not funny, but it is, somehow.
You spend $50,000 on a base chassis and engine and another 100-200 grand on modifications and a golf cart wrecks you?
I'm sure that any of the carts wouldn't stand a chance in a tug-o-war, but the engineering behind them was brilliant.

Makes sense, light as fuck, and if you lift them the right way, put the right tire/wheel combo, and add a sick ass motor and Lincoln lock it youd be good to go
