  • After building a Nipkow mechanical television I plan to build more and experiment with mirror drums and so. What I missed was a generator that can produce several test cards in all frame rate’s and lines. The design took some time, but the proto model is finished. This generator will produce composite video signal pos / neg max 2v pp. from 5 frames to 30, interlaced or normal. Per frame is selectable the number of lines from 10 to 70. Special is the grey / gamma test card, for adjusting en testing the optical part of a mech televison. The circuits diagrams are not yet drown. Pls give your comets and or advise.

Hyper intéressant. Depuis quelques temps je m'intéresse à la televusion mécanique. C'est la vidéo la plus interessante.

Nice redesign of an ancient idea! I watched a lot of reiterations of this on YT but they are all the same. People copy the original idea without any improvement at all... Sometimes It's just digital instead of analogue. And, in this case, the mechanical TV is not even the star of the evening.
Back in the 20s rubber was a rare material and very unreliable. Still, if they have had this material handy, I think they would have made a continuous rubber band with holes in it, rotating in a horizontal plane over 2 bearings. Just like a movie film roll. The disc has inertia and eccentricity and cannot be controlled reliably all the time. A rubber band is much easier to control. And the holes will have the same speed in the horizontal direction, hence, the image will not be trapezoidal anymore. And the device would not be huge to accommodate the disc... Don't understand how nobody thought about this before.
    Cheers!

It seems to me, that a rubber band (or strip of film) with holes in it, cannot easily rotate with that speed. Every second it has rotate 12.5 time’s, so the speed must be enormous. You can put several frames (holes) after itch other, that will help. Still it’s a interesting idea, a band with holes. If you ever accomplish a working model, a lot of people will be interested.

Oh man I really love this device. Well done! I found the link to your video from the Mechanical TV forums.

Theo Fabulous, just enjoyed the beautifull, precise, clear, block schematic audio description. Would be great if even a final schematic plan & Arduino code was made avaiable, even a picture of the hand drawn schematic with part values on this same youtube channel or a link.
    Thanks

Thanks for the reaction, but there is no readable (for you) circuit diagram, most of it was in my head. So sorry for this...
