We Valleyed the Second Oldest Roller Coaster in the World! Scenic Railway at Luna Park Melbourne

- Our first ride on Scenic Railway did not go as expected! Join us for a back row ride on Luna Park's iconic wooden roller coaster. This ride is one of the few brakeman operated rides around the world and is almost a 5 minute ride experience!
Being the 2nd oldest roller coaster in the world, and operated with a manual brake, scenarios such as this sometimes happen, where the train does not have enough momentum to make it over a hill. When this occurs, at no point are riders in any danger. The parks operations team are properly trained for this situation and were able to help us safely disembark the coaster, and could resume normal operations later that day.
We made a movie! This is How We Roll is a feature length documentary about the history of Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC). For more information and to get yourself a copy, please visit vimeo.com/ondemand/thisishowwerollmovie

😂😂 I was dying when it stopped. Valleying on a coaster definitely counts as 10 credits! I’ve always wanted to valley on a ride
No, it’s 1.
@@Roller_Coaster07 You must be fun at parties💀
hi eltororyan
Ikr, oh the pain on a steel coaster to evac
@@masontheis4489 this comes from the person Unironically using a skull emoji. So I think the only party you can go to are birthday parties. Grow up.
Fitting you’re wearing the Eagles shirt. So close to finishing but just couldn’t quite get there (too soon? 😝❤️)
FRIENDSHIP OVER -sarah
@@CoasterStudioslet’s just say this pays for the Brady bet and we’re even now 😄
The entire video I was wondering if the slow bits would be when they valleyed.
Same 😂
IT VALLEYED! THAT IS SO LUCKY!
Oh my gosh, the view! When we saw the beach and water in the background... Breathtaking!
Thanks!
That koala needs to be the next Coaster Peppa, but with even more creds.
I FORGOT ABOUT THAT!!!
@@rivertownproductions me too!
Just to trigger people you should put this as 99.99999999999999999% of a credit on your list.
I was just watching a Tom Scott video about this coaster when you uploaded this. He also said that sometimes, the coaster valleys. This might be the perfect timing 😂
@ 0:58 Sarah's Koala 🐨 bear reminds me of back in the day when Taylor used to bring that little Peppa Pig 🐖 with him on coasters. Hell, I'll bet that stuffed Peppa Pig still has more credits than I do!
I Never Saw A Video Of A Scenic Railway Valleying. This May Be The First.
At Least The Weather Was Nice When You Valleyed :)
It’s so cool that this coaster has been operating since 1912!
THE KOALA 😂
That is so cool. I have actually valleyed on Leap the Dips near the end. They just had me step out and walk across the infield grass to the station.
I Love how you guys say Melbourne
Fun fact: In Australia, we have a TV show called The Block, a building show and a tradition for a challenge is whoever rider the Scenic Railway the most gets the reward, cash for the house or furnishings!
"This view of the water in front of us is amazing"
That must be why it's called the Scenic Railway haha
Haha I do wonder if a valley or a rollback counts as the credit still but this might win another prize for the Coastin Through Australia awards. Best random moment.
Hey guys what's up awesome video you guys are so cool and awesome 😎 take care and stay safe.
Definitely charming and cool.
2:05 This speedhill is the best moment of airtime on the ride hands down. (especially when in the back row)
I valleyed on Leap the Dips on national roller coaster day a few years ago, as per the evacuation plan!! Hahaha
Y’all are so lucky😂
There is an interview of the brakewoman by tom scott (it seems that southern hemisphere is having a lot of youtubers these times... :p ) I would love to see a longer one, there are not a lot of infos about them. Do not hesitate to interview one if you stumble on another one one of these days
We interviewed the brakewoman for an upcoming video :) It will be longer than Tom Scott's!
I almost commented that! Saves me the trouble lol
@@CoasterStudios Yay, that's great, thanks :) (Even if the tom scott's one was already cool to see :p ) Nice vids, continue the good work
The most unique credit ever.
I was honestly waiting for the coaster to valley during the POV you guys posted earlier this week lol 😂 nice to see it has some decent airtime though! from the front facing POV view it didn’t look all that impressive
at least you were close to the end
Wow, that must have been so cool! I was there a few hours later, and my brakeperson, not the one in this or the pov, the one at the start of the video, was quite fast and we got some good airtime!
You ended up out running the coaster in the end!
@2:58 When the mid course brake run becomes the final brake run :)
What did the brakewoman say to you guys at 3:30? "This is what happens sometimes when..."? Is it because you were the only ones on the train?
One to add to the evac cred list.
Looking over it, the brakewoman seems to be strict on how much she brakes but it's pretty cool how beautiful the and stunning the views are, definitely more of a relaxing ride and that's honestly pretty funny that you valleyed so close where you don't know if you should count it as a credit or not.
So weather is a big thing on that track, if it rains it can't run at all. But things like wind make a difference on that roller-coaster because of the direction it can be coming in. And there's almost always 2 trains going at once. When the 1st one is halfway through they'll release the 2nd. And in situations where it stops the staff push it back to where it gets momentum or back to the station.
Go Eagles 🦅
That’s so. Cool tbh
If a coaster does valley, does that count? Good question!
Can the Koala be brought on rides strapped into a GoPro chest mount?
Linnanmaki has Vuoristorata 😅❤️
There's an spf visa surrounding an entire park in myrtle beach
train: *stops*
GP: 😨
Taylor:... oh
That, from the first hill, looked about 25% than last time I rode it. Guess being empty really affects the speed!
I blame the koala. The break woman didnt properly calibrate the brakes for the stowaway.
Well did you get the full cred or did you not?
did you guys also head to gumbuya park while you were here?
We did not because the roller coasters would not be open during the time frame that we were down there
@Coaster Studios that's a shame but it's another reason to come back
Hey Taylor, just asking if you are going to do a couple of review videos for the coasters you rode in Australia and NZ?
There will be several review videos from Australia roller coasters!
I would say that generally as long as there is no danger similar to a rollback I would assume that this is a little bucket list check for most enthusiasts. Or getting evacuated from a Disney dark ride.
Even if it rolls back there's no danger, as there's normally only one train operating.
@@spikenorbert it would depend on what was the cause of the roll back like a mechanical failure for instance.
@@COASTER_CHASER_1 of course - but in this instance, I think there just wasn't enough weight in the train - it was just the two of them and the brakeperson.
Y'all should have pretended you were still on, kinda acting like you were invisible seats.
Ghost train!
But yeah another awesome vid, glad ya got to ride such a historic ride
Is it because this is so much older than Rutschebanen that the brake person is being more strict? All the rides in this seem much too slow especially compared to Rutschebanen.
I think it should count as a different credit. Same for a rollback, it's a different type of experience on the ride.
No other riders means the weight of the train was not great enough to sustain the required momentum to finish the ride..
I honestly am surprised at how some of these hills are relatively large
Whoops
Well atleast it was memorable 😅
I get that this is a slow ride and people still like it but operationally this thing does not seem to run good. They should just reimagine it into a regular wooden coaster and make the lift hill steeper so it goes through the rest of the layout faster
I think they sometimes run two trains
You should check out Moomba
Why do you like the back row better than the front? You can barely see anything.
Its just better because more airtime 😁
in this case, we wanted to be behind the brake woman so you could see her when we filmed facing the other direction, but since that ended up not happening.. 😅
Back row is always best on a wooden coaster.
@@riparianlife97701 true 👍
Lol. I mean you didn’t “valley”. You stalled. The anti rollbacks stopped you from valleying. Great capture on video though! Haha
on the koalas first ride the ride valleys😂
A little too much brake.
Plz take the Koala on DC Rivals
When you ride a lot of coasters, its bound to happen at some point.
She was running it way too conservatively. I have had multiple rides in the back car where the car itself gets airtime, i.e. comes off the track and then back on, like a little jump so to speak. It never was not will be a wild coaster, but it can be better than what you guys got, unfortunately. Wow she should be called "I brake for everything".
you lucky bastards
Four minutes of selfies. Yawn.
