Thanks for your honest review. The tram was nice, and nice there are lifeguards - but $25 seems a bit steep. I still thought you got some cool footage even if the water was murky. When I went to Hawaii we were on other islands besides Oahu, but we had really great snorkeling at several places just off the shoreline for free.

Mind blowing..... Thanks for posting as I had heard some of this. I lived North Shore 65-66 and spent Summer of 73 there. I know the bay as free, no reservations and open Sunrise to Sunset. It was a nice bit of paradise. Looking at you tube travel videos' I am just Astonished. There are far, far too many tourists at any given time. I don't see any realistic solution. Everywhere on the island! Gonna check out some of your other videos...
It used to be $7 or so and no limits. When the pandemic hit, all the other beaches stayed open but only locals were going to Hanauma Bay and the concession wasn't making any money so they closed their doors as it's all about what they paid for. So, they came up with lame excuse too many tourists were causing the turbidity (false). It's based on swells (wind driven) and rain. It was calm during the months they compared it with and voila. They now make more more money. The suntan lotion problem, especially near shore, was a legitimate concern. Insisting upon rash guards is the solution. Anyway, now it sucks. They did this to many tourist attractions to get more money. I dive and have found many other places to be better. Hawaii and Oahu snorkel spots aren't very good. But, that's true in many places due to overpopulation (don't listen to the pro-natalists), development, etc. For example, many beaches on Maui you could just walk into. Now, you can't even find the shoreline unless you're booked into a $1K resort there.
Sounds expensive and then you have to pay to park as well. Okay it does look really nice but too much hassle for me, too many people and then you have to watch the time, not for me, no matter how nice it is. Cheers Alan
Yes, I am in total agreement with you, Alan!! it was a tourist trap. Also what I didn’t mention the video is that they sell tours for people to come on buses and they’re not cheap, so what happens is the capacity of the bay is reach really quickly and that’s why it’s really hard for individuals to find a slot.
@@chasingadelinewe were in Oahu last Sunday and at 7am sharp, I tried to reserve for Wednesday and had no luck. Every time I select a time slot, entered my info, it said not available after clicking done (or something like that). We didn’t get to go and my kids didn’t want to walk in at 6:45am to try to get a ticket.

It's murky and underwhelming because unfortunately it's overcrowded and because people keep wearing sunscreen into the water. I lived there in the late 70's & it was gorgeous. People destroy it so they have to restrict it.

Hey Aloha amigo- nice shirt! WOW my last time in Hanauma Bay was 1985- long time ago. Back then I used to snorkel what you all call 'the toilet bowel'! Back then at the edge of the 'blow-hole' was a 1967 MGB someone-somehow 'dropped or drove -off' some 30 ft. down. Personally, I liked it- out there for the regular beach is wayyy too touristy!!! Man I miss HI!

I went last week I decided to cancel that experience. Went to sharks cove instead in north shore. Had a great time for free

Same went to sharks cove and had an amazing time. Saw a huge parrot fish and a big turtle swam right up to my wife and I.
