Good God Peebs, watching you trying to figure out the Diddy Kong one was watching an actual monkey try to figure it out. Even WITHOUT watching the commercial, WHERE THEY SHOW HOW TO USE IT, I think that it would have been pretty obvious that you were pushing on the part that you place Diddy on!
@Jod-Why!? That sounds like a Mario version of what Logan Austin Thirtyacre could end up doing 'cause of his Jeffy puppet bringing the downfall and corruption.
Peebs could've played the "Spin OUT!" sound effect when it stopped spinning but no I guess. Who edited this video? I want to launch a complaint and a compliment. I loved the Diddy Kong edit!
Paid 100 dollars for a Diddy Kong toy made for 3-year-olds. Can't even figure out how to use it. This is the quality entertainment I come here for. (For reference, I'm pretty sure Diddy sits on the spot you were pressing. The little bumps are to hold him in place. The big pad on the back is what you press to launch him.)

Shake 'em Up Fries were SOOOOO good, lol. They have cheese seasoning and chicken seasoning that you added to your fries. I remember them so fondly because they were amazing for such a ridiculous and simple concept 🤣 . I also remember these toys, but Peebs! Get the original FULL set of BK Pokémon toys they came out with for the first movie! Me and my brothers were SO excited when they came out with those 🥰. We ended up with a good bit of the set back in the day.
Aww man... I remember really wanting them when they came out, but we'd almost never go to Burger King. The one time I had a chance to get them, I asked my dad, but he had hearing issues and I was shy about it, so I missed out. :'(
That wario toy is probably what inspired wario himself to make warioware. He was so disappointed with how bad something with his face on; was, so he made a series of much better minigames to save his public image.
But did you rev it more than once? Because I also had top toys like that (although not Kirby specifically), and they worked just fine. You just had to rev them several times before setting them down. Of course, that didn't do one's desk any favors.
Peebs: "Who plays a casino with like your face like right into it?" Has he never been to a casino before? Even I haven't but I feel like if I went to one that description would be an accurate representation of every single person in the building
Been to a couple and I can confirm that folks do exactly that in front of the machines. You're barely able to tear some people away from one spot sometimes.
I had the kirby one as a kid! You gotta really tilt it sideways and push the rubber part on the table so it won't scratch and your mom won't yell at you... Not speaking from experience or anything... But It'll spin super fast that way too, the maze still isn't great but at least he works as a top. My friend and I would see who could get it to spin for the longest.
I remember these toys! Not fondly, but I remember them! As you showed in this video, most of them were either boring or didn't work (or both). I didn't have all of them, and I never found the mythical "golden toy". EDIT: I should also mention that I was in the target demographic when these came out, and I _still_ found them boring.
I actually had the Kirby top as a kid! I never knew you were supposed to rev it up. I just assumed you spun it like a regular top, and was confused about why it never worked. The track is way to small for him to actually stay in it, though
You know the reason they painted FLUDD all silver was because he had some yellow on him. If they had to use reflective/metallic yellow paint, I feel like they would have gotten an endless storm of calls from parents asking if their kid won the sweepstakes lol
weird story, but I remember these coming out in 2002 when I was at the height of my Nintendo Fan phase and I legitimately cried when I saw that Burger King had Nintendo toys. Finding toys based off Nintendo characters today is easy, but in the early 2000s I never saw them at the store. Also the stickers that came with the Kirby toy are still on my Nintendo 64 that I still play today.
I knew I had some vague memory of these toys when I was a kid after seeing that commercial, but seeing that Yoshi definitely made me remember I actually owned it! I might even still have it somewhere in my house, the egg standee things are probably long gone, though XD (Thinking about it I think I may have also had the Peach and Bowser clock, but that also might be long gone.)
I remember owning ALL of these in my childhood back when they released. A few notes, pretty sure you overfilled the water on the Wario one which causes it to not work as well (I noticed the cap pop up like it had too much pressure inside), you definitely over-twisted the bananas on the DK one making it too easy (DK's also not supposed to move as fast when you push the boulder so I think you got one with a manufacturing error), the Mario one seemed like it might of got bent a little while in the package because I don't remember him blocking the slots nearly as much (that one does kinda suck though so it really doesn't matter in the end), you're supposed to hold the platform from the bottom for the Kirby top which keeps him more stable for longer (I do remember struggling with that one back in the day as well though), and finally most of these are meant to be two-player games where each player picks a character (like Peach and Bowser or Luigi and Boo) so that's where the "fun" was supposed to come from (I would mention the Diddy toy, but A LOT of people already did so I won't waste my time. Are these worth $100..........absolutely not in a million years.....sorry Peebs.

Funny to think that these “games” that aren’t even fun the first time and, in most cases, can’t even be played with as an individual action figure, will all likely take centuries to fully decompose. We’re a weird species 😂

Ah yes, this reminds me of the halcyon days of almost always being thoroughly disappointed by kid's meal toy from, like, 3-12 or something. I think the only ones that ever didn't suck were when McDonald's would get Hot Wheels. They were at least slightly cheaper versions of something you could buy at an actual store (though they didn't come with definitely-totally-for-realsies nutritional food). I dunno how the "girls" felt about the My Little Pony stuff since I was too big a manly man McManhboy for those. The one friend I had back than that was a girl always wanted the Hot Wheels so even back then the sample size of "am MLP toy is good?" was basically zero. In hindsight, those MLP ones might be worth something now, what with the Bronies and whatnot. I'm unsure if pre-Friendship Is Magic stuff is still under the Bronie/Whatever-Not-Guy-MLPFIS-Fans-Are-Called umbrella or not.
