It means a lot to me! :)) I was sitting on Haad Rin last night with a friend who was telling us stories about the early days of the Full Moon party. Made me think of your comment.:) Thanks for watching this video and thanks for your story.
When I went to Koh Phangan in 1992 it was a wild national park and you weren't allowed to stay overnight, though plenty of full mooners risked it. No bars, no roads at all.. Yeah, changed a lot!
This video is pure gold! Thanks for all the effort! Cocohut resort in Haad rin and the 2 hotels next to it are like heaven to me. Private beach great food and they are not too close to the the full moon party beach. Must say the people attracted by the full moon parties are more on the worn down and druggy side and just come there to get maximum wasted which can be a little bit stressful and quite ugly. But it’s just 4 days a month I think. Overall words can‘t describe how beautiful this Island really is... so thanks again.

Hi Eli, Thank you very much for such informatic clip. In fact I am one of your follower as well, however, could you please tell me something about safety tips while visiting this Island.
My husband and I are very interested in visiting Thailand. We're both senior citizen but pretty healthy. I've never been overseas before, so any hints on long flights and what we should see and do while in Thailand would be very much appreciated!
How wonderful that you are looking to go to Thailand! Do not worry; long flights are not that bad. Take a neck pillow with you or ask for seats with extra room, and avoid sitting near a bathroom (people tend to gather there to stretch their legs and will keep waking you up). If you're interested to see and learn about the most beautiful places in Thailand, have a look at my documentary. It talks about our adventure being stranded in Thailand during the pandemic. It also shows the most beautiful towns, historical places ,and over 20+ islands. The sandflies are really bad on Malibu beach! lol. And the bites hurt for weeks. The best way to protect yourself is to use lots of coconut oil all over your skin. Unfortunately, I learned about this trick much later. Thanks for watching this video! If you go back to Indy kitchen, please tell them hello for me :)))
@@TravelRoads I'll do that. Yes, the stitches hurts for weeks and I've seen the dark spots for 4 month. But I'll definitely come back. Thanks for your nice videos. 😊
Thanks for your comment :)) You can rush and see the entire island in 4 days (depending on the weather). Of course, I would highly recommend staying longer. To really enjoy Koh Phangan and have time to experience all the places (not just drive by for a picture) I would recommend staying at least a week. Looks like you guys are having a great time in Bali! Wish I could understand your adventures :)) Are you guys headed to Thailand next?

I am visiting the island and am researching my options on the youtube. yours has been the best and most informative so far. thanks. i am travelling solo cannot drive a motorbyke. i wonder if there are affordable public transoport avialable? or is it just taxis?
Hi Shiva, Thanks for your lovely comment. ❤ There are some shared tuk-tuks on the island. You can ride in a direction of your choice and other people will get on and off. There are also cabs. I do not recall seeing any other public transport. I just don't remember as we got around by motorcycle. It's a big island and people commute all the time. I am sure you are going to find cheaper transport options :)
Hi, I will be there on 23 july with my wife and 18yo daughter. We don t like to be in a too crwod place where is hard to sleep at night (party people) , we would like a beatuful beach and mostly beatiful sea , with resturants and some shops nearby.... what do you suggest me ?
Hi Dario, Do you intend to rent a car/motorcycle and get around or do you need to have food walking distance? Do you want to explore the island or just lounge on a beach? One of the most beautiful beaches is Haad Rin (full moon beach). It's typically very busy, but I don't think there are many tourists on Koh Phangan right now. Haad Yuan is really pretty too, but you will be "stuck" there with nowhere to go (you need a boat to get there). Same goes for Bottle Beach. Chaloklum Beach is a very quiet place. The beach is nice (although there are fishermen boats in the water). The village is right there with plenty of food options. I hope this helps!
Thanks for the video Eli! I wonder how crowded is it outside of a global pandemic and I hope it will go back to normal very soon. I have heard that lemongrass extract prevents bugs (mosquitos, flies,...) from biting, I haven’t tested it myself though. Very nice and thorough review. Thanks again 😊
Use coconut oil on your body. It seems to do the trick with the sandflies. :) Malibu Beach had a bunch of sandflies when I was there. I hope this season will be ok for you. Koh Phangan is a wonderful island. You are going to have a fantastic time. 😍
Not all beaches have sandflies. I do not remember seeing sandflies on Full moon beach, Mae Haad (avoid the overgrown vegetation on Koh Ma), I did not feel any sandflies on Haad Yuan. I got eaten alive at the top of Malibu beach (near the round trees). I used coconut oil to avoid getting bitten. I worked most of the time.
I have been to Thailand many times. But I have not been to Kho Phangan. Sand Flies are worst than Mosquitoes??? So how can that beach be good? I really hope to visit Phangan on my next visit.
Phangan is a beautiful island, Eduardo. You are going to love it :) To me, sand flies are worst than mosquitoes because they leave a mark on my skin for about a week. I'm having an allergic reaction to both sandflies and mosquitoes. The mosquito bite goes away after a few hours. Coconut oil seems to help prevent sand flies bites. I don't go to the beach without coconut oil rubbed all over :)
Hi! The weather should be great end of January. It typically rains in Oct-Dec. You can reach out to any of the Koh Phangan Facebook groups and ask how's the weather like this year. People are super helpful and give you feedback. Here's also an awesome local website you can read for advice about anything on Koh Phangan: phanganist.com/koh-phangan-weather-koh-phangan-article/what-best-season-come-koh-phangan
Other than hiring scooters are there taxis to get around?, as am planning to stay 2 nights in chaloklum beach and one night in haad rinn, if so do i need to book them in advance?
Hi Do you know zama resort I think about if there is many mosquito and about the beach. Your video is very nice Hopefully it's Far away from fullmoon Stay safe out there Rak Thais RAk Thailand samer
Do you know if I can find empty wild beaches on the island ? without all the bars and resort align ... I know ii won't like my tip. if it is only crowded beaches like those...
Thanks for your comment. This video is up-to-date for 2024. While the island remains largely unchanged (with one road newly renovated), the information provided is relevant and useful for choosing where to stay on Koh Phangan. Thanks again for watching!
The scooter places tend to want your passport but or you pay $500 baht deposit otherwise they can make up whatever price if you scratch the scooter. Do not recommend giving password at all.
Hi @@denachurchill2306. You should be fine without your middle name. Your ticket must show your first and last name with the exact spelling on your passport. I never add my middle name on my plane ticket and have never had a problem.
Thank you. Plane leaves tonight. Crossing fingers. I noticed when booking the bkk to Surat Thani ticket that they said they are very strict. But when I booked US to BKK I didn’t even have my passport yet.
Telling People the truth about tourism in Thailand (especially all of the islands) is a no no. You're talking about billions. Even the street cams are showing the night clubs and pubs in the 'hot spots',in reality the place is virtually deserted except for these places. If you look at live cam you'll see a LOT of people walking past shops, bars, clubs etc. because tourists don't have the money to spend that they had pre Covid.
The island's topography has not changed, and this is still the most comprehensive video you will find on Koh Phangan, Alin. Have a great time in Thailand.
Thanks for all these informations , when you say full moon beach you mean haad rin brach ? And If take hotel in Haad rin beach I can move easily to see the other beaches in the east like had than and haad yuan and Ao thong nai pan by ferry ⛴️?
Haad Rin = Full Moon Beach. There are longtail boats parked on Haad Rin that can give you a ride to Haad Yuan and Haad Tien. Thong Nai Pan is a bit further up the coast, but I am sure you can negotiate a boat to take you there as well. In general, if you are staying on Haad Rin, it would be easier for you to move around by scooter.

Looks like you guys are having a great time in Bali! Wish I could understand your adventures :))
Are you guys headed to Thailand next?
Thanks for your comment :))

Great video. Where did you get the map? Thanks.
Thanks, Nick! I got this free map on board the ferry to Koh Phangan. Travel agencies in Thailand or on Koh Phangan should also have one for you.
@ thank you.
I am visiting the island and am researching my options on the youtube. yours has been the best and most informative so far. thanks. i am travelling solo cannot drive a motorbyke. i wonder if there are affordable public transoport avialable? or is it just taxis?
Hi Shiva,
Thanks for your lovely comment. ❤
There are some shared tuk-tuks on the island.

Hi Dario,
Do you intend to rent a car/motorcycle and get around or do you need to have food walking distance?
Hi Ela, thanks for the lovely message and for the information! ❤️
I will try the lemongrass trick next time.:)))
congratulation for video😍
I will be staying in Malibu Beach in March. There is something to worry about sand flies ? I hope it won't ruin my vacation
Use coconut oil on your body. It seems to do the trick with the sandflies. :)
Malibu Beach had a bunch of sandflies when I was there. I hope this season will be ok for you. Koh Phangan is a wonderful island. You are going to have a fantastic time. 😍
Very nice video. Just wondering if there are sand flies on all beaches on Koh Phangan, or just on some beaches?
Not all beaches have sandflies. I do not remember seeing sandflies on Full moon beach, Mae Haad (avoid the overgrown vegetation on Koh Ma), I did not feel any sandflies on Haad Yuan.
I got eaten alive at the top of Malibu beach (near the round trees).
I used coconut oil to avoid getting bitten. I worked most of the time.
Hi, and you are sitting where exactly? ;) i like this beach a lot...
Hi! Are you asking about the thumbnail of this video? This is Koh Ma Beach.
I have been to Thailand many times. But I have not been to Kho Phangan. Sand Flies are worst than Mosquitoes??? So how can that beach be good? I really hope to visit Phangan on my next visit.
Phangan is a beautiful island, Eduardo. You are going to love it :)
To me, sand flies are worst than mosquitoes because they leave a mark on my skin for about a week. I'm having an allergic reaction to both sandflies and mosquitoes. The mosquito bite goes away after a few hours.
Coconut oil seems to help prevent sand flies bites. I don't go to the beach without coconut oil rubbed all over :)
The end of january is good time to visit the island? Is it rainy?
I read in the net there some resort accept naturists, can you pls help us to find one or more?
I'm sorry, I don't know of any nudist resorts in Thailand.
Other than hiring scooters are there taxis to get around?, as am planning to stay 2 nights in chaloklum beach and one night in haad rinn, if so do i need to book them in advance?
Hi Nik, you do not need to book a cab in advance. You will easily find shared songthaews to get you around once you are on Koh Phangan.
Hi
Do you know zama resort I think about if there is many mosquito and about the beach.
Your video is very nice
Hopefully it's Far away from fullmoon
Stay safe out there
Rak Thais RAk Thailand samer
Hi Mike! Sorry, I don't know zama resort...Stay safe and thanks for watching the video :)
Do you know if I can find empty wild beaches on the island ? without all the bars and resort align ... I know ii won't like my tip. if it is only crowded beaches like those...
There are beaches that are less crowded, like Bottle Beach or Haad Wai Nam. The island is big and wonderful. You will find a beach you like here.
how is this video titled 2024 but uploaded 3 years ago? its 2024 now I'm so confused... great video though
Thanks for your comment.
This video is up-to-date for 2024. While the island remains largely unchanged (with one road newly renovated), the information provided is relevant and useful for choosing where to stay on Koh Phangan. Thanks again for watching!
When is low tide and when is high tide?
Changes each day. You should have a look at this website: www.tide-forecast.com/locations/Ko-Pha-Ngan/
Pls show the Location on a Thailand map to begin with...
Agreed. Goggle maps are not reliable.
The scooter places tend to want your passport but or
you pay $500 baht deposit otherwise they can make up whatever price if you scratch the scooter. Do not recommend giving password at all.
Thanks for the tip, John!
You’re so cute!
☺
Do you know if flights to and from Thailand require middle name on ticket? Passport has it tickers don’t
@@denachurchill2306 Wow!! so exciting!!!! ☺Have a fantastic trip!!!!!!!! 🌴🥥☀

@@TravelRoads thank you so much 😊
