Would love to hear your review on the Shminke flourescent neon set. If you can get your hands in them. Since jt was a limited edition set. Love your videos! So calm, genuine, and informative. 😊
Hehehehe, it is XD The Komorebi set really took me by surprise! And it's really affordable, (it was 8$ US on amazon last I checked? That's so nice it's almost silly!) Do you have other neon sets/paints?
thank you for this! ironically, i was looking for something to accent my surreal botanicals with; and komorebi means light filtered through trees/leaves. it's one of my favourite words. 💚
I regularly attend a Paint + Karaoke night at a local themed art bar. We used to use our phones to provide more even lighting when we were painting. Last week they added black lights and it got me thinking to get some Black-Light reactive watercolors. I just bought the Mozart Komorebi set thanks to this review! If they work well at the bar, the bar will be ordering a dozen more sets!
@@ScribletAndBits Not in the same range, but Daniel Smith has a blue that oddly reacts to black light. (Kim Crick has a video on it here ua-cam.com/video/MnCsb7m18io/v-deo.html )
@@EveBolt I ordered it! Last night was madness in the best way possible. We had like 5 people all using the same kit. Things got mixed up and splattered everywhere, including on people… who then realized they could paint all over each other as well as their paper. The blue got mixed with yellow enough times that it actually got slightly UV reactive while still being a sorta light blue and not green.
5 people at a time*, total of like 20 people used that one kit. As people walked in I was like “would you like to participate in the paint brawl?” And basically everyone said yes.
I have the Moe's Art metallic set, and I really like it. I got it (instead of the dozen others on the market) because it had a rose gold as well as distinct copper, bronze, and silver shades, instead of five different shades of gold like so many. Super creamy, re-wet nicely, stay where I put them. I'm thinking of buying the rest.
I have had the komorebi ones for years and I recently picked up the Rubens ones. Gotta say I love them so much! Funny that the blues don't glow on the Rubens ones when a certain manganese hue does lol. I should get a UV light to see how my paintings with them glow! Shame they have to stay confined to my sketchbook and can't be scanned, ah well.
I cant with neon colors, sometimes I even got nausea from it lol.. But more tone down neon color I like it as an accent like fluorescent outfit/cyber punk stuff Thank you for the Video 👍
ThanksI I love your channel!!!!! I am ordering the Mozart and the Paul Ruben sets! I ordered the Lumi Accent Colors several years ago after you did a video on them. You do wonderful reviews and are a great influencer! I almost forgot to use your affiliate link!
Just bought a pack of the Mozart Komorebi for use under black lights at a bar and it was overall great, except the blue did not glow. At all. Otherwise great product, going to do more searching for a kit that has light up blue under LED black lights.
I'm thinking on getting the Komorebi set but I'm curious about if neon colors can mix well with not neon. I mean of course you can mix them, but somewhere I read that you can get more vibrant colors if use neon on your not neon ones, but I can't find any test here on UA-cam :c Thanks for the video,.it was so pleasant to watch
You're welcome! I reviewed another neon set in this video ua-cam.com/video/DJZd8pUilC4/v-deo.html and I use the neon paints and regular watercolors mixed for the demo. You get lovely vibrant mixes but neons are never lightfast, so they will fade if in the light, even after mixing them with other colors.
@@EveBolt My, thank you so much for the answer and the detail of neon behavior when exposed to light! As soon as I can I'll check the video. Have a nice day! 🌱
Oddly enough, it's not one of these blues. Daniel Smith's Manganese Blue Hue is the most UV reactive blue I've seen. Kim Crick has made a video about it here on UA-cam :)
All fluorescent colors are fugitive. They may not completely disappear depending on the other pigment they are mixed with but they will certainly change. The fluorescent additives will completely fade in a short amount of time, so no more glow. Daniel Smith manganese blue hue is also highly fluorescent even though they do not state it on the tube, and while it doesn't fade it loses brightness when exposed to sun.
Depents on your scanner. There are scanners which work quite decent with neon colours. I had one once, but it‘s sadly broken. Don’t know why that one was able to scann them though... The ones which glow under the black light should be the ones you don‘t see on the scan.
@@firecloud6503 Interesting information. I'll try different scanners. I have an opera pink that scans normally always. But those Sakura Neon colours all fade away on the scan.

Thank you so much! :)
That set is on my "to check out" list, it's just been difficult to work on any video. I hope I can get to these soon!
Ah! That opera set from Paul Rubens is right up your alley! I'm really tempted to get the Komorebi set!

Glad it was helpful! That's really fitting! "Komorebi" is such a pleasant word :)
Thank you for making this review/comparison! I can't find the kimorebi ones on Amazon anymore, which is a bummer. I might get the lumi set...

Can i just mention here that your intro is pure perfection? I wish every intro screen was short, cute and expressive like this one
Thank you so much! 😀
My previous intros were a bit longer and I got fed up with them. This one is short enough that even I don't really tire of it ;)

Super job explaining. Thank you

Which was the best neon blue in terms of UV brightness?
Oddly enough, it's not one of these blues. Daniel Smith's Manganese Blue Hue is the most UV reactive blue I've seen. Kim Crick has made a video about it here on UA-cam :)

Very good point if one is putting it up on a wall. But i personally think this isnt a problem. They are in my sketch book so they are well protected 🥰
how is the holbein bright violet vs the paul ruben’s opera violet?
💜
Are the komorebi ones no longer being made? I can't seem to find them anywhere
I can't find them either! :( I don't know if it's temporary or not, sorry!
What did you add to the komorebi paints and why?
What do you mean? I didn't add anything to these paints?
Yey
It makes sense to me that violet-like colours don't really pop under ultra-violet light.
Important question: Which ones don't disappear when scanned?

Hi my friend, i want to tell you be careful when looking at UV light it damages the Retina in the back of the eyes.
Noted! My little UV flashlight doesn't send the light my way when I use it, but I'll keep your warning in mind :)
