It is a pity that this soundtrack did not reach America and the rest of the countries where the 4Kids version was distributed. I never understood their eagerness to change these epic songs.
Money. Always money. They can reap all the benefits of original music (royalties, placements, creative control, copyright ownership).
They're epic ik but atleast we still got a grest soundtrack, especially the main theme
The dub did have good music though. And the way the dub _utilised_ its soundtrack was far superior overall - several times watching the sub where music came on and I found it mistimed or ill-suited. Maybe it's some kind of cultural difference...
Not including Passionate Duelist was a crime, though. But at least we get Dan and Eric in exchange lol
The music for the legendary dragon cards awakening was awesome
It's called licensing rights, you don't get a bundle deal on those sorts of things during negotiations unless you are one hell of a deal maker, also Eric Stuart more than likely wanted to flex his musical talent in the English release.
4Kids don't own Konami, they work with them to help distribute the show but change the series up due to archaic parental guidelines.
It would cost Konami money too distribute that music worldwide because they'd have to pay for a global license instead of just a national one.
I mean I doubt everything I said was 100% accurate but it was a more in depth take with a decent amount of guess work on why Passionate Duelist was only for Japan.
