Comparing the specs of Honda's NX650 to the early XR650L.
I also take a quick test ride on the street and in the dirt. Sorry for the bad camera angle. I was using chest strap and trying to keep neighbor's privacy.

I own a 2003 NX 650 Dominator with only 12000 miles , fitted a high level front fender and upgraded the rear shock and fork springs to make it more off-road capable and added 30 mm bar risers which has made it just right for my height when standing and also fitted Acerbis handguards.
I bought a set of Talon wheels for road use and change back to my stock wheels with knobby tyres when I want to ride dirt .
Only thing I don’t like is when travelling about town at 30mph in the UK is that in 3rd gear it over revs and in 4 it under revs so it’s either screaming or it’s lumpy if you know what I mean other than that I love the old thumper. 😁🇬🇧❤️🇺🇸🏍🦮

Something about the old gas tanks , like I had looked a lot better , I had a 1988 blue ones and put a super trap on it with Dunlap all season tires extra tall ones . A nice bike on and most dirt. Liked it more then a KLR , that sucked on dirt , even fire roads unless you are going fast. KLR WAS FUN ON MOUNTAIN ROADS PAVEMENT . PUT TWO TOP HEAVY EVEN FOR SOMEONE 6'4 AND 250 LBS AND MOTOR FEELS LIKE SEWING MACHINE AND VIBRATION IS NUTS COMPARED TO THE NX 650 . WISH I HAD ONE NOW WITH DISC BRAKES ON THE REAR . THIS BIKE WAS A FUN BIKE AND FIT ME GOOD .
Beautiful bike! Great review. I notice they didn’t have the “wings” like the 650l’s do. Is it because they figure the 650l would be traveling at slow trail speeds and needed the extra air flow?
My only complaint on my 650l is the lack of a back up kick start. But other than that they great low tech time tested machines.
I think an original NX fairing probably directed air flow more than this scrambler setup did. I’ll have to check out your XR vids!

Hi! I have a 1992 nx 650 dominator wyth 22000 km, but i can not pilot them because i loss my vision (blind since 2008). I love the Dominator, so i save it in my garage. Regards from Argentina.

I was enjoying the video, quite informative but when the test ride started I was hoping to hear how the bike sounded and the music started and couldn’t really hear it well over the music. Why?
As I recall, the wind noise was terrible so I didn’t want to annoy everyone but did want to show what it could do. It sounds just like a Honda xr650L
