I love how each zebra has its own unique personality! From the mischievous little ones to calm and sweet one, it’s clear that every zebra gets the care and attention they need to grow strong and happy
Thank you very much for rescuing these beautiful Zebras and giving the lives they are meant to lead. You are all true Angels and each Zebra knows how loved they are. ❤
Cute. Our eldest daughters nickname since grade school is "ZE BRA". From her best friend. In 3rd grade. The "girls" are now in their 60s. Moms, grandmoms, married. The friends called Pecan . We still call them Ze Bra n Pecan generally. 😅😅😅 (Pecans actual 1st name is Peggy, lol.)😅
How are they just "released"? Zebras are herd animals, they *need* to belong to a herd for protection. Are they released near an existing wild herd, and will the herd accept them? If they can't immediately join a herd they are just fast food for lions and won't last long at all.
Generally yes, herds mix in the parks all the time and even loaners find herds during the lead up to the rains when they tend to breed. more often the issue is they prefer the 'humans' because of either upbringing or affection/gifts/food but the herd 'instinct' is always there in some level for both parties
shouldnt they be released into a herd as they are herd animals in the wild and wld, surely just fall prey to a predator when alone instead of accepted into a wild herd...
WHAT is more successful, wild animals rescued that actually return to the wild or heroin addicts who are put on methadone who then get off and stay clean?
Ill offer sort of an answer. On humans. Im a #NavyVeteranKorea, American Legion member 60 yrs. My post works with homeless Veterans. Many who sadly experience Addiction. Flowed from PTSD n injuries suffered from their military service. YES THEY VAN Recover. If society genuinely cares n gets involved. Not condescendingly ,ignorantly judge them. I know 100s n 100s plus who recover. Now are Again respected good Citizens in our communities.
I imagine being set free from the sanctuary is like being kicked out of heaven.
🙏🏼THANK YOU🙏🏼for your team at your sanctuary helping these animals🦓

ZEEEEEEEEEEEBRA!
I'm in NY -- where is your sanctuary located?

Are the ones released readily accepted by nearby herds?

@ thank you for your response!

Are they Grants, or Grevy zebras?
Likely grants. Grevys are mostly handled by specialized sanctuaries due to their endangered status
Why set the back into the wild? They are safer in the refuge 😢
shouldnt they be released into a herd as they are herd animals in the wild and wld, surely just fall prey to a predator when alone instead of accepted into a wild herd...
Shame on you
