The team at the Center for Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia discusses ongoing surveillance of a pregnancy with lower urinary tract obstruction (LUTO) after a fetal shunt procedure, including how they work closely with referring physicians to ensure the LUTO shunt continues to work properly and remains in place. In some cases, the LUTO shunt migrates into the fetus' abdomen or the amniotic space, and requires surgical replacement.
Families will also be referred to a pediatric urologist to plan for any postnatal care their child may need.
