    I feel like I tried EVERY troubleshooting step from Chamberlain, including the full factory reset, and yet my app STILL wouldn't ever connect to it! This tutorial made it quick and easy. Thanks so much for covering this!

    If your garage opener can't find any wifi connections , try erasing your wifi settings first.

    Worked for me after about hundred attempts following their instructions. You should go to Chamberlain and teach them how to program their equipment because they’re obviously clueless.

    Wow!
    Been tearing my hair out ever since the new router. 1 of 3 openers connected via the app...Chamberlain was just teasing me...the other 2 never linked up. Did your procedure, then redid it with the app and the openers linked right up!

    Thanks for the Help, I wasted about 4 hours following the directions on the app and website and nothing worked, what you described in the video was no where to be found on either! 4 hours following chamberlains instructions wasted when it took less than 5 minutes with your instructions.     Thank Derrick! I needed to change the name of my wireless router as well. I followed your instructions but that did not work. I ended up deleting the wireless settings and then reconnecting by unplugging the unit, pressing the yellow button 3 times, I heard the beep and then I it found my new wireless router name. BUT it was your video that lead me to this solution. Thanks again for your videos!

    If helps anyone, I just have Wi-Fi at the opener, not the panel/button. To change the Wi-Fi there, remove the light cover, press the (yellow/might be different than yours) button three times to hear a beep. Then follow these instructions. Couldn't get the change Wi-Fi to work so I chose erase first, then selected the Wi-Fi and added the password. If all else fails, unplug the opener -- wait a bit -- then plug it back and and start over. Thanks for this guide!!!

    Derek, you got it correct. Chamberlains instructions DO NOT WORK. I spent an unproductive hour trying numerous times to change my wifi settings. Nothing worked. Some on the net and found myqdevice.com and finally I got reconnected to my home network. I sent a note to Chamberlain to change their instructions. I would like my hour back...Anyway you did a great video!

    Holy mackerel! What a life saver! I bought a new router and messed with the factory wifi reset process for about an hour before giving up. By chance I happend across this video. Totally solved the problem and there is absolutely NOTHING from Chamberlain on this process.
    Thank you to the Hindsight team for this great video. I'll be coming here first when I get into trouble.

    Thank you, Derrick. I changed my wifi service and the MyQ app had me running around in circles until I clicked on your youtube channel. It worked perfectly the first time. I even got the elusive "3 beeps!" It's disgraceful that Chamberlain/Liftmaster won't publish proper directions for a normal homeowner to follow. This isn't rocket science, but bad directions sends the homeowner on a wild goose chase and the frustration that ensues. Again....Thank You!

      your garage door is probably not broadcasting a signal. try turning on the garage wifi again. also remember you have a time limit before the wifi on the opener shuts off

      Press and hold the black adjustment button on the garage door opener until 3 beeps are heard. There is an initial beep, continue to hold the button approximately 6 seconds, during this time the up arrow will be flashing.
      Wait a few seconds for the LED light to turn off. Wi-Fi settings are clear.

    Fantastic. Not sure if my garage door opener is failing or the circuit board but recently my MyQ was disconnecting from my WI-Ffi and then hours later would reconnect. I went on the device and reset things and tried doing it thru the mobile app on my iPhone. WOuld keep beeping but never connect. Eventually gave up and assumed I would have to call to get it fixed. Did the setup like in the video thru manual connecting to the MyQ WI-Fi and going to the setup website which I knew nothing about. Worked like a charm. Now to see if it sticks.

    Thanks! I have 3 MyQ openers, only the newest of the 3 always gives me fits!
    It didn't do the beeps either, the led went green and life is good again

    thank you for the assistance . Here what worked for me after i got to the change wifi settings. I erased my wifi setting and started over. it made life so much easier and i was able to connect my my-Q app. Thanks again, i spent about 1 1/2 hours trying to set it up through the chamberlain website, it got me nowhere. 5 min into your video gave me a way better understanding.

    Thank you. Your video was the most helpful on this topic. I have a Chamberlain . To change the wifi settings, I had to erase the existing wifi connection. Only then it allowed me to add the new wifi network.

    I got to tell you that you the man. I had gotton an email telling me they hacked my wifi and even told me my password. Wow. I changed the password and then the fun started. Direct tv, Rouku, Firestick, my car and then the garage door opener. I spent hours on the thing. Could not get it to work. Took your advise and bingo fixed. Thanks so Much.

    Wow. I struggled with this for quite some time, then just gave up. After finding this video, I was able to reconnect to my wifi in about 5 minutes. I also don't have the digital screen wall remote, just one of the standard 3 button ones (open/close, learn, and light control. This wall unit doesn't beep 3 times, though, just once. Thanks so much for the awesome help! :-)

    Thank you so much. Like so many, I wasted a lot of time following what Chamberlain had on its website and it did not work. I tried your way, it worked. In my case, I had to Erase my wifi setting first, or it would not detect my wifi network. Also, your tips about “no beep” is great. Without it, I would have probably kept clicking No Beep and would not get anywhere. Many thanks.

      I have the same thing. Press and release the Learn button (wait for 3 beeps)> go to Wifi settings on your phone>then follow his instructions. It's just a series of steps but SO VERY confusing if you don't know what to do.

    Finally was able to connect with your instructions. Yay! Only problem is when I open the Q app, it doesn't show the garage door opener there, but when I checked my router, it is connected. Just need to get it to the app.

      if your phone or tablet is connect to your home network when you open the app it should find the garage door opener

      @@Hindsight101 It doesn't find it. It wants to take me through device set up again in the app. I've uninstalled the app and reinstalled and nothing. When I did try and enter the serial number through the web site, I got error cod 310 (registered to another user). Chamberlains help menu tells you to clear that you must hit the learn button 3 times. Well, I tried that many times and didn't work and I get stuck in the same loop.

      You may want to try erasing you current WiFi setting on the opener and try setting up the app as if it was a new install

      @@Hindsight101 Erased all of the WIFI settings a couple of times and I couldn't get it to work. I did a factory reset that would let me establish the serial number under my own account. Then I was able to follow your instructions to set it up and was able to add the serial number to my account with no problem. Also, a suggestion for Apple users, if your phone keeps disconnecting from the opener, disable Wi-FI Assist (Settings/Cellular/Scroll to the bottom and turn it off) when setting everything up. Thanks again for all of your help.

    I was having a hard time connecting my Chamberlain garage door opener to my cell phone and I tried a lot of things. I called my routers tech support, they had me input the ports on my router, but that didn't work. Then I read some place on the internet to turn on your "Mac " filter. Once I did this everything worked.

      @@Hindsight101 Thanks for the quick reply Derrick. I watch the video and it makes sense what you showed. The issue is that the MyQ app changed from what I see. The app does not allow me to add a device just based on the serial number. The MyQ app only allows you to add a device and walks you thru the wifi setup process from the beginning. I have a strong wifi signal but at the end of the device discovery, it fails. I just moved and the old house had Liftmaster MyQ devices that I used without a problem. The new house has a chamberlain garage door opener.

    So if I want to leave the wifi signal off and ensure there's no wireless output, I just don't turn the wifi on, correct? Our garage door opener is under our kid's bedroom, and I don't want it to put out a signal.

    There is a rather obscure problem with Google Wifi hardware not to mention their cell phones. You see all my wifi devices like BBQ thermometer, Thermostat for house heating and cooling, front and back yard sprinkler units you get the idea works off of 2 GHz frequency. When attempting to find the devices mentioned they don't show up. Well, it is starting to look like a lot of the newer devices are still coming out with a 2GHz wifi connection, only. Many have said turn off 5GHz and then your 2GHz will show up but no ones thinks I need 5GHz band(cause I do)? So confusing and to add to this dilemma most of the garage door openers I have checked out don't call out which Wifi frequency they operate at. Thoughts.

      You are safe to assume they are all 2.4. There is little reason to have 5g for an opener

    This is the 2nd time I’ve had to do this due to network changes, but this time it doesn’t seem to work 😢
    I did…
    1-factory reset gate opener
    2-connect to MyQ network successfully (although the entry says “no internet connection”)
    3- can’t reach the setup.myqdevice page
    Any ideas?

      Press and release the Learn button (wait for 3 beeps)> go to Wifi settings on your phone>then follow his instructions. It's just a series of steps but SO VERY confusing if you don't know what to do.

    Looking for help in shutting off the wi-fi signal in the Liftmaster 8550W garage door opener. For medical reasons we need to limit all wi-fi signals entering the house. Unfortunately the garage is located adjacent to our son's bedroom and the family room. I am reluctant to start cutting wires. Thank you for any assistance.

      The wifi only stays on for about 5 mins. You can check it with a cell phone or tablet and look for the lift master wifi. If you want to disconnect it from your home wifi just follow the steps in the video but select erase wifi

      @@Hindsight101 Thank you for the quick reply! The garage door opener appears as a wifi device on my iPhone which led me to believe that it was always producing wifi signals. Good news if it stops after a certain point. I will try the erase wifi feature as you suggest. Hopefully that will eliminate any wifi signal. Thank you very much!

    I too have to Learn button instead. After pressing the learn button, I hear no beep. I proceeded to unplug the power plug and plug it back on, and did all sorts of other instructions (pressing yellow button 3 times; pressing the black button, etc...) I could find online or the myQ app, still to no avail.... very confusing. All I wanted was to reset my wifi setting. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I have already spent a lot of time on this thing....Can't believe Chamberlain is so misleading or disappointing about this process.

    Do you know if this switch needs to be connected to a 2.4ghz network? So ar every switch I'm finding only works with that.

      @@Hindsight101 Yes, the WiFi and Bluetooth stopped all of a sudden when I had a power outage. I tried several times and followed all steps essential but it won’t connect. I don’t know how to operate the settings manually. Wondering if when the power was backup, it did something to irrigation system that WiFi was affected.

      It might still be on. Try getting a cell phone or tablet and see if you see a Wi-Fi signal
