Kaos, you need to stop using "target fixation" as an excuse for incompetent riding. lack of skills is not target fixation. Before anyone jumps in and says target fixation is real, yes I know it is but that's not what the problem is when someone takes a curve to fast and doesn't know how to force the bike into the curve, that's lack of skill, lack of knowing what their bike is capable of doing.
At 3:21 the rider is in the wrong lane, lost control and IF the road is wet, should be reading the conditions and riding accordingly. If the road is wet then speeding up in the wrong lane while approaching a curve is not smart, Blaming it on wet conditions is no excuse.
And I thought you were talking about 2:11.

@@abikeanditsboy3449 that is one of the examples that I'm talking about, that's not target fixation, that's not paying attention to where the hell you're going! Some of these bikers think it sounds better if they can blame it on target fixation rather then poor riders.

3:14 Paint gets dangerously slicker than asphalt when it's wet. I'm dead certain this is exactly what went down.
Most of these guys are going much too fast / not enough talent. Guy at 4:00 was going a sensible speed and saved him from car moron overtaking cyclists on a blind bend. Thank goodness, had he been doing loony speeds like the others, it would have been nasty.
At least 90% of these crashes were due to rider negligence or lack of attention.

Just got my license this summer and though I consider myself a rookie..........man, 90 % of these clips the rider has no idea how counter steering works which would have saved so many of them. If you dont understand and can control counter steering (to some extent - you dont have to be a professional by any means), then you are a DANGER to everyone else around you and you are not suitable to drive on public road alone.
I LOVE watching bad riders crash.

How insightful. We all have to get better at riding by doing what? Riding our bikes, yes. Most of your time riding is gonna be as someone who doesn't have top tier skills.

“Ride safe, wear your gear” but by all means don’t slow down because then you wouldn’t crash. Cause of that crash- parasitic air drag from long go pro stick creating instability at a certain high speed. You have to be symmetrical at high speeds, like an airplane.

You asked what caused the crash? Wet pavement? No. 90 percent of the time it’s excessive speed for the road, conditions and rider abilities. If all these variables are within reason then asking if a wet pavement was a cause makes sense.
These kind of riders are the ones that give bikers a bad name.... Not riding safely and over riding their ability....
Oh yes and rule #3: stop riding above your pay grade
I personally don't hate bikers and I make room for them to pass by every time. It's just those bicycle riders sometimes could be really PITA. Never lean to the sides, don't give a shit about what's happening behind them, blocking the lane all day. If you get too close to them or horn them, all you get is a middle finger.
People just don't care about other people.. bicycle riders think that every driver is a piece of shit Motorbike thinks that car drivers can't drive. And car drivers look at bike riders and think they shouldn't be allowed to public roads. But it really all comes down to the fact that in every group there is an asshole that gives the same group a bad name by his actions. And we tend to remember negative things more than positive ones.
Speed, block out speedometer in video! Wear hiking boots so you can get bikes out of the woods.

That was extremely entertaining. Bicycle boys are so annoying and entitled. A biker broke my mirror one day lane splitting I seen his bike at circle k a couple days later and kicked it to the ground.
4:25 is not target fixation, the dude was engine braking and didn't even cover the front brake, no wonder he wasn't able to slow down enough

Sure wish the term "target fixation" would go away. No such thing as looking in one direction causing you to magically go there. Maybe call it "wasn't paying attention", "zoned out", or even "lost concentration". But too many people actually believe looking at a different line than where you want to go will make you magically careen off the road. It's not a thing; you can't purposely duplicate it.
you absolutely will go where you're looking, you've obviously never ridden. get a bike go hit the bends hard come back and tell me how looking straight ahead rather than "through the bend goes for you

Well, if you actually ride off the road just because you looked "there", then maybe you have a skill issue. So, yea Mr. Obvious, I've been riding pretty much every day since I was 15, and that was in 1980; so in case your math is as sharp as your "obvious" deduction skills, that's 43 years.
"Target fixation", if it is actually referring to "you will ride where you are looking" is 100% BS. Some people may use it as as excuse for "not paying attention" or by just being distracted. That, at least, lends more credence than the "I went off the road because I was looking off the road."
If it IS such a thing, then how come you can't replicate it? If YOU actually are riding straight, then purposely look 90 deg left, and THAT causes you to careen off the road and go "where you're looking", then maybe you should find another hobby.
Funny, I can make a 1 lane left u-turn while (gasp) looking to the right on my 1/2 ton bike. (As many people can as well). Why is that? Hmmmm.
