I'm playing a demon sorceress right now! and I want to get a character to make a pact with me so I can become a legendary demon!!! Lol
My character's named Dionysus after the Greek God of pleasure, wine, and orgies. There were many famous Cults of Dionysus in mythology, so I think it would be really fun to play as a young fucked up Dionysus just trying to start Her own fun Cult of Pleasure.

My daughter is playing a tiefling bard who was adopted and raised by kind halflings. Her best friend is her older adopted sister - a half-elf. The inner desire to find where she really came from leads her out on adventure. She sneaks out of the house at night and her mother catches her, but instead of being upset she is understanding and gives her a ring of warmth to remember her mother's embrace.

I have in my campaign a feral tiefling druid that uses his heritage as a way to scare away poachers from this small sanctuary he built in his neck of the woods. He'd use his wild shape to turn into something the poachers would be willing to hunt, lure them into a trap and scare the living shit out of them.
Even if the stats aren't optimized, I love coming up with characters that have odd upbringings, or a unique outlook on life.
Very cool idea! I really like that you chose to scare rather than kill, as well, giving the poachers a chance to change their ways, which a Tiefling may understand better than anyone.

@@maid_of_heart3261 There's a neat idea--a Tiefling, a Dragonborn, a Half-Orc, and a Yuan-Ti find out that the same bard sired all of them, and they decide to find him. Along the way, it becomes clear that this bard intends to challenge himself by trying to make the goddess of hatred fall in love with him, and his children have to stop him from disrupting the balance of the multiverse.
Now I want to play a Tiefling Druid Charlatan with no tail, cleft feet, and horns who is simply trying to convince the world he is a Satyr.
How did it go? Or how is it going?

Maybe their ancestor was a satyr but went from the feywild to the shadowfell... a dark twist that can manifest as a tiefling type character cursed by the darkness and bargains the ancestor faced.

My Teifling Bard plays violin, but that's one part irony, two parts class.

I made a Tiefling samurai. Inspired by Onis and the samurai masks that portray demon faces.. Dipping into 3 levels of hexblade for flavor and that charisma use. The rest is fighter samurai. He wants to be a hero for the people regardless of how they see him.

The built-in rp considerations are what I love about Tieflings: discovering one's mysterious heritage, facing possible persecution along the way, fighting against one's own nature or perhaps leaning into it. Most interesting 'race' in my humble opinion.
you could extend it even further if you pick draconic bloodline sorcerer because now you have two separate bloodlines to investigate
@@wolves600 If you're a draconic sorcerer tiefling you could be descended from Tiamat (through the draconic devils she creates), which could be really interesting if you're playing Rise of Tiamat
I like the idea of a tiefling who just tries to fit in and get on with their life in a mostly human society, the "I didn't ask for this" guy.
My issue with Teiflings and other races outside of Elves, Dwarves, and Gnomes is they are too d*mn short lived without being a Wizard or Druid.
I haven't played many Tieflings, but my favorite one I've done was Spore Druid that was descended from Zuggtmoy. He was a Hermit that couldn't stand being clean. So the campaign descended to the party trying desperately to keep the Tiefling clean, and the Tiefling rolling in every mud puddle he could find.
NPC: Who's that outside?
Party Face: ...That's our Druid.

@@EndertheDragon0922 He was a little emaciated moldy green skinned Tiefling. Instead of horns he had almost antler-like fungal growths that crowned his head. No tail, but his feet were like four toed roots similar to a Treant.

First ever character was. Teifling Paladin, son of a Sucubus he was raised in a church of the god of mercy and uses his infernal heritage for good

The best thing about Tieflings is Hellish resistance, fire resistance is awesome to have fron 1st level everything else is just gravy.

I love to make characters that encompass the whole redemption arc. I have a Levistus Tiefling Redemption paladin/Hexblade that used to be part of a cult that was trying to free Levistus from his ice tomb but saw the error in her ways and now uses a shard of his tomb as her spell focus to siphon his power and weaken him. She made an Oath to Ilmater to bare the pain of using the shard in an effort to ensure Levistus never escapes.
Lately I’ve been digging the idea of a Charlatan Tiefling who grew up in poverty and pretended to be interested in a Paladin Order to get a place to stay, but inadvertently finds an instructor who is willing to give them a chance to be good instead of judging them by their devilish appearance

There's several things I like about a Teifling passionate about cooking, one is accidentally making supper too spicy for the non-fire resistant party.

I once played a Wild Magic Tiefling.
Now the cool thing about him was that he looked human at first. But every time he got a Spell from his Infernal Legacy it transformed his body into a more ,,Normal" Tiefling.
Holy shit I'm doing the same thing right now, except every trigger raises the chance percent by one. And then I have set percentages where physical/mental transformations happen
Great idea for character flavor. Physical changes could also happen when good / evil acts occur - especially with a mixed Devil/ Angel parentage tiefling.
I’m playing a wild magic sorcerer who was human but due to the events of the pre story had their nature more or less changed to a changeling. While figuring out he powers she’s masquerades as a female version of her Tiefling boyfriend.
I love the idea of tieflings being treated as a devil or demon by small town and villages but when they come to big cities like Waterdeep they are not bothered by commoners👍🏼👍🏼💯
Tieflings have been my favorite race to play from the moment they were introduced as a player race. I think it's something about the horns and colorful skin tones....

Tieflings are one of my favorite races, with my favorite being Aasimar. Seems to be a theme...

There used to be a half celestial/half demonic race, but I’m not sure if it was home brew or not. I think it was called a Nephilim.
One of my favorite races was the Eneko, which is a half-giant / ogre hybrid.
My first character is a Tiefling, and I want to do Aasimar for another, eventually. Gotta try something non-charisma based for a change first, though.
A tiefling/aasimar two man party would be really interesting. Kind of a Good Omens uneasy alliance kind of vibe

My Tiefling is a Warlock whose character concept was "The one your granny warned you about during the Satanic Panic". He just wants you to live deliciously!
Could I request a video about playing lizardfolk? With that whole thing about their alien mind, and their primitive culture, playing one can be quite the experience, but maybe also a challenge to some, so a video about them could be very helpful and interesting.
From how its described I imagine it like a Vulcan or a Borg trying to adapt to social interaction.
Probably the best excuse to play a True Neutral character I think.

My tiefling is a rogue/bard multiclass who was hired to be the guy that finds stuff and knows how to talk his way into certain places. He's also of Glasya's bloodline which makes the parties current mission of challenging Mammon very interesting for him.
Love this! I have a friend playing a Tiefling barbarian in our next campaign and she didn’t know about the sub races in mordenkainen's tome of foes and boy did she light up when I told her. She’s now playing a Zariel (duh) tiefling and we both can’t wait for the campaign to start next semester!
So how was it
The backup character to my Wednesday night campaign is a tiefling paladin. If he makes it into the campaign, he will be going after the two vampires that have taken over the boom town near the silver mine. Not to free the townsfolk, just to put it under his rule instead. I'm not sure yet how well that will mesh with the other party member's goals, but we'll see.
My current character wants the undead out of commission as well, but for an entirely different reason. That one is a grave cleric/assassin.
I play a drow tiefling descended from Lolth herself. according to family legend, anyway. she's a lawful good celestial warlock / life cleric descended from a royal house of abyssal drow tieflings.
I have a male drow grave cleric who failed a mission and got de-frocked by Lolth on the spot, while he was still on the surface. Now he is a Corellon convert, and Chaotic Neutral hopefully drifting toward Good. His overriding obsession is pissing in Lolth's plans any time he has the opportunity, since he has a pretty good idea what she would have asked him to do in any given situation.
He used to be an industrial safety inspector. What that really means is that he got sent in after accidents to see if anyone could be Revivified.
Love this guide. I’m working on a tiefling wizard, who uses a special amulet to disguise himself as a human, yet has to revert back every 48 hours. Can’t wait to see how it turns out!
My tiefling wizard just wears welder's goggles to cover his eyes, a big wizard hat to cover his horns, and a cape/cloak to cover his tail. The rest of the party found out he was a tiefling when he took off the goggles as they entered a dark cave, because his dark vision doesn't work with the goggles on.
He'd taken them off briefly previously, but at that point he didn't trust them as much yet, so he used thaumaturgy to make his eyes look normal first.

My favorite recent character was a tiefling swashbuckler/archfey warlock of the tome, and a entertainer background. I played him like he’d went searching for something to help protect his destiny from the pull of the blood war and possible recruitment. So much fun
I'm currently playing a Teifling Bard and i's been a lot of fun so far, my bard really gets into Tango music and the combination of their disconcerting appearance and the foreign music always makes the social aspect of the game really cool.

@@qtscorpkid Both my previous and current groups have a tiefling and an aasimar in the same party. This even predates aasimar as an official playable race -- we just used the sample version from the DMG verbatim, and retconned once the official races became available.
Tiefling paladins are my favorite. There's something about a character that splits the difference between their own inner nature and their faith that appeals to me. Making a conscious choice to will yourself away from darkness and walk into the light is really awesome. And the struggles that come with it are just a bonus as far as RP goes.
In 5e Tiefling's are specificly of devil lineage as stated in the PHB, XGE and MTF.
unearthed arcana has an abyssal variant however, my character uses that one

We don't think it's necessary to always has to use the cosmology in the 5e books all the time... it's fun to diverge and look back to other editions of D&D for inspiration. We like to be precise with the rules, but anyone can use any lore they like and even within other 5e material tieflings of demonic origins are discussed and explored in brief.
The golden age for D&D Lore was 2nd edition. Go pick up some Planescape books. That's where tieflings originally came from, so I consider that the ûr-canon.
@@AndroidMaxine I'm aware of the unearthed arcana variant but I'm just stating what's official right now. i have nothing against flavoring it differently, I've even used the unearthed arcana it's fun. I'm just stating the CURRENTLY OFFICIAL fact, that as of the PHB, XGE, SCAG, and MTF, Tieflings are essentialy of devil lineage.
By far, my favorite tiefling I ever played was named creed. Levistus tiefling, pale blue skin, usually dressed in a large amount of animal furs because he was always cold, always kept a hood up and over his head to make sure people couldn't see his horns, and was a absolute coward. He had a good reason to be. There was an inquisition out and about that was interrogating and/or murdering anyone with any sort of infernal or non pure human heritage going around at the time.
The first few sessions of the campaign he refused to even fight. Worked it out with my DM that he spent a ton of time just as a squirrel following the group around and helping from the shadows because one of them fed him. Heal spells tossed out here and there because he's a druid. Eventually it got to the point where they were all about to die and Creed, in a panic, threw an ice knife and got a double kill.
That little blue coward ended up saving the world. Loved playing as him.
My Storm Sorcerer Tiefling is from Kalashtar, and is descended from a Rakshasa, so he looks more like Panther Lily from Fairy Tail than your typical Tiefling.
I started playing DnD a couple of months ago and my character is a druid tiefling that was raised by in a traveling circus until the age of 10 when my character was left in the care of the druid clan. I'm having a blast playing her 😁
My first character was a Teifling Warlock, Infernal pact, with a goal of dethroning the devil lords, and becoming the king of the 9 hells. I love that guy 😈
That sounds dope. I’m thinking of making a tiefling wild magic sorcerer that used to be a human before his magic mutated him.
Group is playing Dungeon of the Mad Mage. 3/4 Tieflings (were gonna be all Tieflings but someone changed to DBorn last minute). Shadow Soul Sorc as an Asmodeus line, Conquest Paladin as Zariel line, and Zealot Barbarian as Zariel line. So much fun, and the Tiefling Barb is a fun time.

After a 20 year hiatus from table tops, my first char (and still my favorite) was Miah, the tiefling Arcane Trickster. She was very selfish and mistrustful (CN). After a good chunk of the campaign, she started to finally trust her companions. And in turn, they started to trust her. My dm told me because of the way I was now playing her, her alignment had shifted to CG.
Miah and our gruff dwarven cleric initially hated each other, but are now best friends. They've both gone out of the way to save each other several times. It led to some really awesome role playing. :)
Anyways. I love rogues, and i love tieflings. and i LOVE tiefling rogues!
My new tiefling I've been working on is a Rogue with the Entertainer background who disguises themselves in plain sight as a bard. Expertise to give them bonus in performance and either persuasion or deception really sets them apart from your typical rogue, probably using it on stealth + thieves' tools. :) The silver-tongued assassin sort of trope :D Getting the +2 cha and +1 dex from Dispater Tiefling really helps this archetype. I'm excited!
Next time I need to make a bard with absolutely no points in charisma or proficiency in performance at all. They just happened to learned how to create magic from music but never cared to learn how to actually play (or just get stage fright). Just prefers to use a sword and only takes spells like feather fall and healing word which either aren't affected by charisma or the charisma mod is just a tiny bonus compared to the impact of the spell
Its neat how easy it is to make a Bard work, without investing heavily in charisma.

My Teifling Warlock is a folk hero that made their fiend pact to save their town. So Teiflings being rare in our campaign people instantly recognize my character. Makes for an interesting roll play experience
I was waiting for a Tiefling episode!! I'd really love to see some stuff that branched out from just the "Demons or Devils" for their lineage. I imagine someone with, say Oni or Rakshasa bloodlines, would be really cool spins on Tieflings and an interesting new way to roleplay a character using lesser used fiendish outsiders.
My first campaign of 5e I ever played was with my older brother DMing. He had converted an old 3.5 3rd party module based on Diablo 2, so he decided that (based on the lore about nephalem established in Diablo 3) the players could only pick Human (Variant or non), Aasimar, or Tiefling. At the time, there was only the base Tiefling, but I thought it looked like an awesome choice for my bard.
I hated that character. But I still am fond of both the Tiefling and the Bard. I think the major issue was that I was the only one into the grim-darkness of the setting and had made a character for that.
Theming is very important part of character creation, we always hear about the brooding loner who's in a light hearted fantasy adventure. The opposite can be just as jarring.
A player in my campaign (currently) set in Avernus is a Zariel Tiefling Barbarian role played as a mix of Hell Boy and John Wayne. Love it.

I created a tiefling arcane trickster charlatan who skilled heavily into deception and illusion magics. It was a lot of fun but unfortunately only a one shot. So I am thinking of repurposing them as a npc in an upcoming campaign.

I’m playing a tiefling paladin of Bahamut. She was subjected to prejudice all of her life due to her heritage and so is determined to be the absolute best person she can be. Playing with that duality is a lot of fun. Tieflings are awesome. Best race in the game, I think. So much cool story potential, as you say.

I've played a couple Tieflings, both leaning into the infernal heritage. One was a Paladin of Conquest/Fiendish Bladelock in the service of Asmodeus for an evil campaign. The other was a Lore Bard that ended up gaining ranks in the the devil hierarchy through skilled negotiations and tactical enchantment uses.
I am playing a tiefling assassin, is a purple antlered version with red eyes covered in tattoos he looks scary but is as camp as Christmas, but works for a rogue organisation who brings justice to corrupt aristocracy.
I'm currently playing a Glasya Tiefling, he's a Bard from the Collage of Blades. Horns and tail are all that marks him as something other than a normal Calishite. I'm playing him slightly against type since he is a good-natured jokester with a soft spot for the downtrodden and enslaved due to his own upbringing.
Due to events in Curse of Strahd that we're currently playing, his spells have taken a turn towards the more druidic choices on the bards list and he might take a dip into Archfey Warlock if the campaign keep on going for long enough.
I’m a forever DM, but I enjoy making important antagonists full Character sheets, and levels in real classes, I feel like it gives those important enemies a sense of weight. One of my favorites was a Tiefling of Mephistopheles with the Feral variant. He had 6 levels in Sorcerer (draconic, red), and 4 in Warlock (Fiend) with the draconic bloodline reflavored as Infernal. He was truly a monster for my players to fight, a long final encounter that spanned about a month of our lives, it was glorious.
My favorite character I have made so far is named frixx Branx, he is a pacifistic tiefling wizard that does all he can to protect and help people to show that not all tieflings are as bad as they seem

My Tiefling went a different way. I've seen a lot of brooding antiheroes and it can get old. So Minno is an Artificer with a great love of novelty, they love seeing and experiencing something new. I played into the "oh crap, a demon!" entrance to towns, but with that I raised Minno's charisma and made them the kind of person who defuses these situations through easy humour.
My tiefling uses humor also with a mix of flattery. His main purpose in the party is to be the scout and the negotiator. He deals in information and that sometimes takes him places he's not supposed to be. Being able to talk his way out is very important.
My favorite character that I ever played with a tiefling druid. So much fun XD.
It's not an optimized build, but it makes sense if you think about it. Tieflings are hated by society. So it makes sense that they would turn away from society, and turn to nature instead.
I’m about to start my first campaign and my first instinct was to play a Tiefling Druid. However when I look into it, it doesn’t seem like the best class.. are you powerful and badass as a druid?
@@vivan6985 Druids are actually crazy strong. They are immensely versatile. The druid spell list gives you the ability to be the party's damage dealer, the buff/support character, the healer, the battlefield control expert, really anything you want. Druids are immensely versatile. They're also more durable than wizards or sorcerers, and Wild Shape is useful both for combat and for noncombat uses such as exploration and infiltration. Druids have pretty much no weakness. Playing a druid well requires you to know your abilities well; it's a class that requires some thought, not like a Paladin where you do exactly one thing (run in and divine smite). But a well-played druid is an immensely powerful character.

Funnily enough,my tiefling character is a friendly wizard with little deer horns and tail. Of course, he has an edgy backstory but you wouldn't know it at first.
Playing as a Tiefling Fighter - and she's just a blast. Very bullheaded, very action oriented. When everyone is deciding to open the tomb, Guros is already making STR checks.
I played a tiefling hexblade sailor descended from Levistus in a campaign, and I really enjoyed playing him as a bit of a gregarious charmer out of combat but someone who leaned hard on fear tactics in combat where he would layer on armor of Agathys and shadow of Moil before wading into melee.
I have a Divine Soul Tiefling. It's pretty good.

@@DiscardatRandom, I agree. And since you are a wizard, you might as well go with the variant feral tiefling for the wings because being a wizard means that you already have access to the spells that the tiefling race would give you.

I've been dipping into DnD as I'm new to all this, so far I've created 3 types of Teiflings and soon there will be more... I'm fascinated with how much imagination can go into all kinds of classes and races it's overwhelming.... I can't wait for what future and classes new will pop up.

I made a tiefling sorcerer who used the home brewed origin Phoenix. A power passed down to me. Lots of fire spells, some charm spells. A tyrannical wizard pursues my character for my power. My flaw was that if my emotions were unchecked any flame around me could be snuffed or fueled uncontrollably. My backstory involves family, lineage, a childhood lover, etc. Having great fun with this one would recommend.
I'm playing a College of Creation Tiefling Bard and it's probably my favorite assimilation of class, subclass, and race that I've yet to play - a dark edgy summoner that resorts to creating her own constructs of her mind because she grew up as a nomadic gypsy used to being ostracized by passersby. Tieflings are one of the most fun races to play in the 5e perspective!

I just rolled a winged teifling hexblade warlock/bard at level 3 last night. I was amazed at how much damage I put out compared to the rest of the party. I used some Bardic tactics for the fun of it, but I beat the crap out of stuff with my hex weapon. I hit 95% of the time, and my AC kept me safe most of the time. And my intimidation and deception skills are huge. It was fun because I can still provide a support roll for my party while also impacting our total DPS. And I did it all because I watched your video on multiclassing with a 1 level dip into hex warlock.
I am currently playing as a Zariel Tiefling Fighter. She is our party's defensive bulwark and absurdly hard to kill. The smites that I get from it can be very useful and I usually use my Thaumaturgy cantrip to create essentially signal flare and magnify my voice to communicate at long distances. Honestly probably one of my favorite characters I have made.
My favorite character I’ve ever played is a punk rock inspired tiefling bard. Her parents are always trying to get her to help gather souls for the nine hells, but she really just cares about making music, and she kinda rebels against her lawful evil upbringing by being pretty chaotic good

Magadon Kest, sired by Mephistopheles himself, was the first Tiefling I remember reading in the Erevis Cale Trilogy by Paul Kemp. An awesome and tortured character who eventually overcame his heritage.
The last tiefling I tried to play was an old druid in the woods who was estranged from society because of his lineage.
His relatively normal parents died in a fire as the town turned on his family and his older brother had disowned him, so he turned to the only other thing left. Nature.
Becoming the demonic hermit of the woods who doesn't like people and keeps the company of the beasts.
Sadly the game I had him in saw me as a trouble player due to my loner character still not used to playing with a party and maybe a few other things. It was a little short lived.
But I had an amazing moment when I was lightly accepted by the towns people and was able to regain that connection with my older brother after so many years.
I love these kinds of moments I'm able to have with any character. They are amazing.
I wouldn't mind playing this sort of character again with a party I get actually play with using this type of character.

My favorite odd combination and current character is a Zariel Tiefling Barbarian Zealot, and I rp it as my characters rage is giving into his demonic heritage to draw strength, which fits Zariel I felt. My Teifling Ha'aval is a Monk/Cleric, his personality is a jovial/jester type Chaotic Neutral.
On of my favorite Tieflings Ive used (there are a lot), was Nymeria Creed, a Female Tiefling Glaive wielding Barbarian, her hatres for Yu-an-ti was unstoppable. To bad it was a Dragon in that tomb
I once made a Tiefling that was a noble but gained their tiefling traits when puberty hit. Thus their family hid the Tiefling as a secret & wouldn't allow them the follow their dream of being a Paladin. Years later after training a strange force appears to them and tells the Tiefling if they submit to their rules, they can give the tiefling the power they longed for. And thus a Tiefling Hexblade was born, trying to balance their sense of justice/ morals and the rules/power of their Patron

Playing a hexblade/conquest paladin tiefling of levistus who both worships and is in a pact with the raven queen. Also made one in pathfinder, but he was a one eyed, fighter that hated cursing and drank too much, but was the party's shield. Ended up becoming a full balor to protect his friends.
I have a Mephistopheles variant Tiefling. My DM also homebrewed in that my Tiefling also has an Abyssal heritage as well. My father was Cambion demon descended from Graz'zt & he married my mother, a tiefling descended from Mephistopheles. The homebrew was I could not access my inherent demonic powers w/out help, & being that my ancestry came from 2 powerful fiends, neither ancestry took precedence over the other. Complicated story, but a lot fun. I also played her as one who denies & hates her fiendish heritage, thus she partnered w/ a Celestial patron.
my tiefling monk is somewhat fashioned to be a performer or dancer, using flourishes of typical dance moves to attack their opponents. i made sure they still had high charisma for that performance and persuasion to get extra payment for their dances and its worked out really well in my mind! love playing tieflings and love the versatility and flavor of them as well
I have played a tiefling warlock who breaks the mould a little. He is descended from Grazzt and was originally intended to be a sacrifice in some ritual; his mother is a priest of Grazzt. Ran away and is being (not too enthusiastically!) hunted by demonic minions. And in an effort to break away from his past, went into a warlock pact with Oberon. Fey-pact tiefling warlock! Just for fun, both his patron and the demon lord talk to him inside his head quite frequently and some might think he is slightly insane. Especially as, at least once, he has been heard to exclaim "Both of you, get out of my head!" Oh, and BTW, he is NG.
I played a tiefling monk in 4th edition, and it was hilarious. I managed to take him into 5th and it's still hilarious, because the resistance to fire let's you really fight dirty sometimes. Such as grappling an opponent into a bonfire and fighting them there or just holding them

One of the rival enemy NPCs in my game is a Zariel Tiefling, named Zan-Ki Godai. A Bard of Swords/Hexblade Warlock to an Ancient Emerald Dragon, who is hunting the party under false pretenses of his patron's incessant paranoia. He has a jovial nature typical of a Bard, but finds strength and purpose in his pact and has every bit of power to back up his foolery. Often referring to himself as "the Emerald Emissary". Zan-Ki is a party favorite XD

Tiefling Hexblade Warlock, the Tiefling uses the Bloodline of Levistus and the blade is one he's trying to keep away from Levistus because it has to potential to free the archdevil from his Glacier prison.
