It's better to overthink things than to underthink them... I think.
I hear ya on the last point. We're finally going on our honeymoon next Spring (only 21 years late) to take a Caribbean cruise and we'll be away from the other half's alert dog for the first time in six years. It wasn't an issue when we initially planned the trip, but it got rerouted and one of the ports won't allow even service dogs that have passed through Mexico (which is on our route) - they've been known to put them down so we're NOT going to risk it. Talk about mixed emotions!

I think? 🤔 Woohoo! A Caribbean cruise sounds awesome! Leaving pups behind is never fun, but they're always so happy to see their humans ❤️ Enjoy!

We always turn the water off. Empty all tanks before we leave. Thanks for the information!

Hey, friends! This was a great video. Leaving my babies is the hardest part of leaving, too. The older my boy gets, the more separation anxiety he seems to have (or maybe it's me). He was a rescue so I always worry he thinks I'm not coming back. Can't wait to see where you're going! Much love from SC, Jane ❤️ 🙏 Have a great time!

I used to not mess with shutting off the water, on the occasion I was at a site with a water hook up, but more recently I've tried to be better about it. I replumbed my entire camper the same way I did my house back home, so I wasn't too worried about leaks or problems, plus I always use a pressure regulator, just to be safe. Well, a few months ago that regulator saved my butt when the pressure regulator on the campground's well failed and the pump didn't shut off. The pressure got so high it eventually blew out a metal elbow in the well shed, but not before sending the campground water pressure through the roof. There were only 3 or 4 of us in the campground at the time and it was pretty obvious who the 1 person was without a regulator, they were dealing with water damage and burst pipes. Ever since, I turn the water off if I'm using the city water connection. That said, I don't use the city water very often, either because I'm staying someplace with no water hook ups, or low pressure.
Here's a tip: if the campground connection doesn't have much pressure I'll just fill my tank and use my pump since it makes 50psi. Then I can just go turn the valve and refill the tank whenever I need since I'm already hooked up. As a bonus, the water in my tank never gets stagnant since I'm constantly using it.
As for the pump, I always turn that off when I'm leaving. The switch is right at the door so I just hit it on my way in and out. Same for the water heater (unless it's below freezing and I need it to stay warm so it doesn't freeze.)

I would recommend putting the pet food away in order to discourage ants or mice. We had the dog food in a plastic container that the ants somehow found a way inside so now we put it in ziplock bags inside the container.

Always turn off our water when we leave. I discovered a neighbor leaking from their underbelly because someone hadn't quite turned a tab completely off and flooded the tank

We now have our camper on a seasonal site and the campground requires us to shut off the water when we leave. However I would anyway.

Great Video. We always turn off the water when we leave the trailer. We never leave the awning out unless we are outside under the awning. We’ve seen a couple awnings torn off. I don’t understand not rolling them up🤔

Howdy, you two ... great video ...great info .... I have been trying to turn off the water every time we leave no matter the length of time. We also unplug anything that's not necessary althou on travel days we do turn off the propane, we have a 12v frig so no propane needed. Lookin forward to the goat news ... lookin forward to the next one .... enjoy

I've ended up with a similar set up and similar steps. I don't have a Waggle but I do have a EasyTouch smart thermostat which can show me the current temperature and send me alerts. My camera is part of the Simplisafe system I got (if you don't do the paid monitoring the location is irrelevant and it just connects to your app) which also has a smart smoke detector. I do need to figure out which smart RV lock I want and get one though, I keep putting it off. Like Mike said, if the weather is warm enough I turn off my propane, and if the weather is cold I can see how much propane is left in my tanks in the Mopeka app. I got the wifi bridge for Christmas last year, so now I can check the levels from anywhere and get push alerts.
One last thing I try to remember to do if empty the dehumidifier. I usually leave it on, just to keep the humidity from getting too high while I'm gone, and once or twice I've accidentally left it nearly full and come back to find it shut off.

Ooo I like the looks of those EastTouch systems 🤔 I've had a couple people tell me about the wifi bridges, I didn't realize they had them. Thanks so much for sharing!

I'd rather be safe than sorry. I turn off the water in our coach whenever we leave the site. I also turn off the water at night. I don't want something to happen while I'm in a deep sleep. I also lock by door when I leave. RV'er's are great people but you have to protect your property.

I turn off the water. I didn't used to but I came home from work one time to find a leak behind the water heater. My trailer is a 2021 2600RB so it shows that even a new or newer trailer can leak.

I only turn off my water if I’m leaving for more than a day!
I know people say turn it off whenever you leave but I’ve seen water pouring out of the bottom of RV’s when people were home so I don’t see any advantage either way!
we are full time RVers and have been for several years
