@@tomrhapaelabbaselmidor1397 nope not since 1994 when we left the TTPI (Trust Territories of the Pacific Islands) now we are a republic in Free Association with the United States which means citizens from Palau are able to work and reside freely within the United States without applying for a visa and the path towards US citizenship is quicker and simple. We also are protected by the US military and have a US embassy as well. But I will add that our culture is Japanese influenced as they were here for a more lengthy period. Spain and Germany were here prior but it was the Japanese that really influenced us. Example is that as a third world hand- to- mouth people on an island when first introduced to advanced society technology in the early 20th century such as electricity, trash cans, trash itself and many other daily normal things in modern times, we simply borrowed the Japanese words and put it in own daily talk. But of course we always have appreciated America and the American culture especially us the new generation. Even though it might be kind of ridiculous it is a world we are brought up in and have not choice but to conquer it and make the most out of it with in good faith and intent in mind and soul.
      💙🤞🏽🇵🇼🇯🇵🇺🇸

Nostalgic! I remember Palau. I stayed in Palau for 2 years in 1991 and worked for Abby Rdialul at Pirate's Cove at Malakal but stayed at Koror. I remember the house of the sisters of Beritz, the church,, the crocodile island, Melekeok, fishing and riding the speed boat, Meyuns, Babeldeob, and of course the KB bridge. Now it's totally different many buildings, cars, big boats, department stores and the roads are greatly wide and cemented.

I miss Palau ") worked there as a Yachtie to one of the biggest yachts. Many said it looks like Philippines provinces but in Palau, it feels like the US. Their monetary is US dollar, there are many American grocery stores and banks, cost of living and standard of living isn't cheap there but fresh veggies are very affordable, and many whites are living there permanently. Many Chinese visitors, and I know one Japanese young lady who works as a scuba diving instructor. She's living her dream.
