Where did you get the lid for the pot?
What about the fuel can stabilizer that holds a lighter and doubles as a lid? Where/who is that from
The lid is a protype I am working on with one of my favorite gear companies. Stay tuned!
What trowel was that?
Lid/cover info would be great.
Was searching for this as well
He replied to other’s comments it’s a work in progress thing that he is working on apparently. Looks nice tho
I enjoyed the "fall on your back and wiggle your appendages like an upside-down beetle" dramatization.
Fastpacking is by definition running at least some portion of a hike but usually large sections to cover more distance faster. Those packs you've got look pretty cool and that flashlight is the A+ go to choice. I'd never bring a flextail pump, that's like a Dan Becker camp comfort item. Much rather bring a knife instead.
I hate soft flasks but, when fastpacking in the winter, I quickly found out why they’re important. I slipped and fell forward, landing on my chest. I had a hard-sided flask in my shoulder strap and thankfully only bruised a rib really bad. It was still painful.
If you’re going to be running with a pack on, make sure nothing stored in front of you is hard or has sharp ends/edges - lesson learned!
yikes that sounds painful!
Lol
Justin, I searched for the Toaks pot and lid in your video and can't find it anywhere. Is this a prototype?
It is. Stay tuned ;)
When is that cover name/BRAND being announced?
Great vid. About the jacket, any NEW jacket with new DWR is gonna be quite waterproof to short downpours even if the fabric itself sucks. Unfortunately in my experience DWR wears off quite fast.
Thanks for the information. I have a lot of the gear you showed and now I may be interested in some of the other ones. Thanks again Justin 😄
I'm a slow packer and this is good info!✌️
Cook kit so compact 😻
A+ for the falling to the ground footage 😂
I have the OV skyline 30 and I really like it. I’ve used it on two day hikes and on one of them I did run with it. It was extremely comfortable. I love the vest straps. I don’t know that I’ll ever do multi day trips using it, instead I’m more likely to do longer day hikes that involve some running and longer distance.
I use the Nashville Cutaway 30 vest-pack for fastpacking. Of course, the Durston Wapta 30 was just announced, which is exciting as well.
Love seeing a post from Justin
I like that cook system, but couldn't figure out who makes that lid that fits on the canister bottom and holds a lighter. Maybe I missed it on a previous video, but is it something you made, or something that we can buy?
I am working with someone on designing it and refining it. Stay tuned!
I would like to see you review Durston packs Wapta 30L and either one of the Kakwas 40l or 55l.
Cool video!
I did a two day gear load out a couple ounces under 6lbs. In the gossamer gear murmur. This weight has my phone and the weight of my fuel canister included. The last day was incredible having to attack a four thousand foot elevation gain with less than eight lbs. On my back made it possible for me to catch the bus from timberline Lodge at the end of my 47 mile hike.
Love your trekking pole or hiking stick what is the brand and where can I get one?
Are you planning a full review video for the OV skyline pack? Would love to hear your thoughts on it
I'm really eyeballing the Fast Kumo! Once I get back into better trail running shape, I think that'll be the way I end up going.
What is that long handled trekking pole you have?
Could you tell me what kinda. Of trousers do you use ?
Am looking for a waterproof breathable trousers for 3 seasons range prices 150€
And... Also introduce a hand warmer fluid like Zippo or something that works for cold weather please
Thanks
Justin, what brand is that soft water bottle?
skiline VS Kumo...which is more stable and comfortable?
How's that finger healing up?
The BA Zoom UL Insulated has an ASTM R value of 4.3 and the TaR Xlite 4.2. So the Zoom is warmer!
in practice teh xlite is a lot warmer. astm isnt everything sometimes
I was surprised you brought the flextail air pump for fastpacking. If it works for you though, good.
Saw a video about the flextail air pump the new one is actually a weight savings compared to pump sack that comes it
Justin -- Btw, no link in description for the cook system... Please add... The one piece of gear I wanted to check out, lol....
Love your vids but less gear, more trips!!! 😂
That Hoka shown on the wideo has a rather narrow toe box 😂
My Topos are much wider.
The lid is in the Decathlon Quechua cook set. He mentioned it in a previous video
7:47 Not a single company makes toe boxes too wide. 80% crush your toes and cause balance issues.
... and even if they did you could pre-tape spots on your feet or certain toes where you are prone to get blisters. Between that, wearing a moisture wicking toe-sock, and a lightweight outer sock I NEVER have had too much room in the toe box either.
Lol all the stuff he mentions and we all want to know about the lid/stabilizer that's not listed. Did anyone check Decathlon 😂
The lid is a prototype he’s working on. Stay tuned!
Hard to understand from my perspective why one would want to “fast pack”. Or, why a favorite electrolyte flavor would be watermelon. But, interesting.
why would you WANT to do this?
You can take the same concepts (light, minimal load) and apply it to just walking on a long summer day, sunrise to sunset, and get in over 30 miles. No running needed.
To cover more distance faster allowing you the ability to do longer hikes in the same amount of time. I fastpack the back half of all my hikes, hike in fastpack out and thats with a full kit + a buttload of camera gear to film videos. Without all the camera gear you can get your setup to be really light and small.
Would you recommend watermelon for me and my black folks?
2nd 😂
Cheaper flashlight alternatives that are just as light and functional? $35 for that tiny flashlight is silly.
First
Walk softly and carry a big wallet.
If you're just rushing through to complete it, what's the point? To brag that you did it in xx time? Wilderness influencers selling their thousands of dollars worth of sponsored gear. Disgusting.
Influencing who, I wonder…
Different strokes for different folks. For some people, this is how they enjoy the backcountry. It's all about setting a goal for yourself and then pushing yourself to complete it.
Let people enjoy what their bodies can do.
*I DISAGREE WITH THE SHOE CHOICE.*
ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS GO WITH A WATERPROOF ANKLE BOOT. YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT'S GOING TO RAIN OR BE DEWY. HOT OR NOT. IT'S CRUCIAL YOUR FEET REMAIN DRY. JUST GET A GOOD SOCK.
That pump has no light feature, less luxury, so it's lighter than the included inflation sack
The quick pump is far more useful for the weight than a knife. I'd rather bring micro scissors than anything.
