      Impressive bit of kit. In general a kettle is the most power hungry appliance on a 13a amp plug, A typical domestic kettle in the UK draws around 2000 to 3000 watts of power, but of course not used for very long and it's cheaper to use gas.
      I see this video as a preview, please can you do another appraisal in around 6 months and give us your thoughts

    Really great channel Joe but this is way above my head and suspect others too. Not being negative because what you guys have achieved is off the scale AMAZING!!

    Impressive piece of kit to help with your on board solar/battery system. Enjoy the new Eco as that will be the difference for you and Danni!!!

    I like this sort of content in your videos. You are great on electrical stuff Joe and I like all the practical demonstrations, such as plugging in all those power-hungry implements at the same time! I often think it is easier to think in Watts and Watt-hours with all of this technology. This is because the Voltages are often very different. If you convert to Watts by multiplying current by Voltage, you can forget about Volts and Amps and compare Watts, which are always the same. For example, 5 Amps coming in from 3 solar panels may not seem much, but it could be at 60Volts, which makes the power coming in 300 Watts.

    Very informative. Although reading some of the comments they seem a bit negative. Thanks for sharing. Take care and stay safe.

    Undoubtedly expensive, but if i was in the middle of a narrow boat fit out i would be tempted by this to simplify the electrical installation. When you add up what Danni & Joe spent on the Victron kit plus the batteries i bet the prices come very close; to say nothing of simpler wiring and space saving with less time and effort on the install. Gets my 👍

      I would seriously consider the same. I'm organising building a campervan and this idea is how I will sort out the electric system. Charging from the vehicle, solar panels or a EHU, it's far simpler than having individual elements.

    • @markxtc123
      @markxtc123 25 днів тому

      Another advantage would be if you have both a boat and a camper van you could use one of these and swap it between the two vehicles.

    At this rate you won’t need any of the typical boat battery set up at all and you will be running solely off the eco flow range. I can imagine your eco flow A/C has been a massive help with this lil heat wave we are enjoying and the eco fridge/freezer/ ice maker is working over time keeping your ales at the perfect temp 😁 Great post Joe. Missing you Danni sending hugs to you both 🤗🤗

    If you were fitting out a boat or van from scratch, would you consider using one of these as the sole leisure battery, 12v/240v system instead of separate battery, DCDC charger, solar controller, inverter. This would mean that the power unit could be easily removed to use elsewhere if required. Would it cost much more? Are there any other downsides?

    How's your eco flow aircon unit getting on ? I'm thinking of getting the same thing on my boat and wondered if would be effective during the heatwaves ?

    I have 2 Delta 2’s and I bought a 220w portable solar panel.
    1. A common problem with their system is the VMS, voltage monitoring system. It corrupts. You will not be able to charge it above a certain % charge, say 75%. The only way to restore it correctly is to run the unit to zero and then recharge.
    2. I have been unable to update the Firmware. They simply do not connect to WiFi.
    3. On mine the AC sockets and 12v hook up are on the rear, very inconvenient!
    4. The solar charge connector tends to
    Come loose very easily.
    5. App is good but one unit fails to connect regularly.
    6. Forget the portable Solar Panels! Flimsy and useless!
    I find my units pretty good and they have certainly paid for themselves. But they are not without problems.
    All the best.

    I personally think it’s a game changer… like anything that changes the ethos etc it’s worth the money! If it’s out of your price range then that’s unfortunate but don’t slate it if you haven’t experienced it. I haven’t myself, but I am damn well saving👌

    I think those battery banks are OK for weekends camping pop it in and out of the boot of a car but I can not see the pracality of them on a boat due to there size and having to be taken to a 240 mains to charge .And if you are using a generator to charge it why not just use the generator

    • @markmark8198
      @markmark8198 29 днів тому

      I have a solar powered house. A cheaper alternative was just to have a generator. No batteries etc. It would mean the genny running full time 24 hours a day or being "on demand" and starting and stopping. So it would be similar with your idea? If so, nope. Fuel costs, noise, dealing with exhaust and servicing? Nope. Plus the expense of a genny with the same output as that device.
