    ☆About Ocean Tokyu Ferry☆
    🌸 Ocean Tokyu Ferry doesn’t have Wi-Fi.
    🌸 The ferry shakes almost all the time.
    🌸 The private room on Ocean Tokyu Ferry is comfortable.
    🌸 Ocean Tokyu Ferry doesn’t provide any towels but you can buy one.
    🌸 A wide variety of vending machines is fun but probably not good for health
    🌸 You can take a taxi at Moji station to head to the terminal.
    🌸This room was on the side of the ferry, so you feel the shaking a lot and hear the noise from the engine.
    Thank you for watching and subscribing to my channel☺

      Why di you think so ? I don't know about raising prices after Corona yet but Japan is actually a rather "cheap" country for hollidays if you really want to ... at least from Europe flight tickets before Corona were ~300-600€ (in some rare occasions you can even get discount tickets below 300€) and if you stay in a cheap hostel you can get a room for ~10€ a day (cheaper if you are in a group of at least 2 people) so flight and hostel can be less then 500€ for 2 weeks if you get super lucky (usually I'd calculate ~800-1000 for 2 weeks) and staying longer makes it actually less expensive (in %) food and drinks are also very affordable especially if you go to small restaurants and buy stuff in a Supermarket instead of Konbini.
      When I stayed in Japan for Working holiday my monthly expenses including rent for my flat was ~1000-1200€ for a whole month.

    I really remember this type of experience, of the sound of the engine, the vibration of the engines felt in your body, the feeling of being on this massive, metal machine, on the wide open decks, looking down on the land from behind the railings.
    It's an interesting experience that is fun to remember. Not the most intense or anything, but just a feeling that I remember now that I am watching you filming your experience of it. Fun times to experience.

    I worked on ferries like these in Sweden every Summer when I was a student 🙂 On a 3-5 hour crossing, you have a full restaurant, a cafeteria and a supermarket - no vending machines. There is also a cinema. All cabins have their own shower and toilet. On overnight crossings across the Baltic Sea, you have multiple restaurants, nightclubs, pubs and bars with live entertainment as well as duty free shops. A return cruise ticket (24 hours) to Finland or Estonia can be as cheap as 6 USD, 30-50 USD if you want to spend the day in Helsinki or Tallinn.😊

    I am kind of surprised that the ferry didn't leave an hour or a hour and a half later to arrive in Tokyo at a more reasonable hour, but when it seems your focus is on transporting trucks, being reasonable for passengers is not a concern. The seas looked pretty calm, so I am glad you had a pretty smooth ride. Even though the price seemed pretty reasonable, it seemed like it was really stripped down compared to other Ferry's. I think I would want access to a restaurant, a shop, and Wi-Fi if I am going to be on a ferry for that long. Meeting the captain was a nice little touch that I have not seen on other ferry videos, but I do have to admit Sunflower ferry is in a special class for making a person feel valued. Otherwise it just gave me the feeling like it was built for Truck drivers who are considered employees at that point with the passengers just being a side business.

    • @travelloveranna
      @travelloveranna  Рік тому +2

      Yes, in Tokushima, it seems that they need some time to get in and get out. Also, when we board on this ferry, you have to check in, get your room key etc. Also if some passengers get off, the staff probably check the rooms just in case.

      Apparently this is the second largest natural harbour in the world, and during the British Empire the British could theoretically fit their entire navy inside it.
      Plus, it's a warm water port, with lots of British forts that used to be defending it back during the British times. The forts are now basically tourist attractions and places to hold events like bikes races from Fort to Fort.

    As someone who is terrified of the open sea... I actually like that you're never more than 50 or 100 miles from shore. I could be on a boat if it were that close to land. Other than that... you couldn't PAY ME to take a cross Atlantic or pacific oceanic cruise :D
    I love your video!!! I actually felt that this was extremely informative, and especially for women who travel alone in Tokyo just as your channel suggests. ^.^ I actually love how small the meal portions are... but you know Americans are buying like 3 or 4 packages for dinner alone. ;p

    For some reason I have ALWAYS found vending machines as super cool.
    From the days of when the Pennsylvania Turnpike had Howard Johnson Rest stops with a vending machine room that sold everything from playing cards to toothbrushes and medications...all the way to the 1980's when visiting Germany and a underground mall that had vending machines that sold some grocery items like pints of milk and bread and eggs so commuters of the subway could buy incidentals while not having to leave the subway.

    Thank you for posting this video on a dark and sombre day for Japan. I have mixed feelings about the ferry - no wi-fi isn't good for a start and then you have to make your own bed!! It's also a shame there's no proper restaurant onboard. But on saying that there's good facilities on the ship and plenty of food and drink in the vending machines. I'm not sure how many foreigners take this route given that in the area where you heat your food in the microwaves everything was in Japanese. Maybe the staff might be able to help them out? Would I take this ferry given the chance? Yeah I probably would, just for the experience. Have a great weekend and take care of yourself.

    • @travelloveranna
      @travelloveranna  Рік тому +5

      Yes...no wi-fi is not perfect but probably you can spend more time to focus on yourself for example. And I was able to enjoy the food from the vending machines, but a couple of days were enough.haha they taste good though. But no salad or no really healthy food as you can imagine. And I think this is a very interesting experience to everyone even to Japanese.haha
      Thank you for the comment as always and have a great great weekend!

      Actually heating of food is very simple. No language required. Each vending machine has a large letter on it. The letter on the vending machine corresponds to the microwave to be used. Just put your food in the correct microwave and press start.

      We used to have these cafe sorta places called Automats in the US where you could buy fresh food from basically a proto-vending machine. They had little windows where you could see items and you opened it by putting coins into a slot. There was usually a sort of kitchen in the back where someone kept the windows filled. My mom always talked like they were the shiz. They were also pretty cheap, apparently.

    Ah, this reminds me of my days as a boy getting ferries from Ireland to the UK on family holidays, and one time, a ferry from Ireland to France on a school trip, to help me learn French. Great times.
    Being outside on the decks, with that ship engine sounds and the open sea air. Love it.
    Kinda scary, because you don't want to wind to blow you overboard, but that's probably never going to happen unless you're doing something really dumb, especially on a ship, as opposed to on a boat, as the bigger the vessel, the higher and stronger the waves have to be to do anything...having said that, I while I was asleep on the ferry to France or back again to Ireland, there was some rough weather and a classmate of mine did apparently say the next day that a wave managed to reach our windows or the outside decks or something like that. But again, that is really no problem for for ship that big. Maybe dangerous for a person caught in that wave though. But if they are outside in that weather then presumably they know they dangers that they have chosen to out themselves in.
